I'm actualilly trying tu use this nice widget : http://quasipartikel.at/multiselect_next/
I have two of this Widget in the same page, and what i'm trying to do is refreshing the second one when i select or deselect item in the first one.
For exemple, at the beggining, i only have this :
<select id="crc" class="multiselect" multiple="multiple">
</select>
Then, on select and deselect event, I'm creating some more nodes and add them to this (and it works, it create something like this :
<select id="crc" class="multiselect" multiple="multiple">
<option>test1</option>
<option>test2</option>
</select>
The problem is that I'm not able to refresh the second widget after adding the new options.
I fount an usefull post with similar problem and tried this :
$("#crc").multiselect("destroy").multiselect();
But it didn't work, does anyone have an idea?
I had exactly the same problem. Here's what worked for me:
To fix problem with destructor of ui.multiselect make the following change inside of the destroy function:
destroy: function() {
this.element.show();
this.container.remove();
if ($.Widget === undefined)
$.widget.prototype.destroy.apply(this, arguments);
else {
$.Widget.prototype.destroy.apply(this, arguments);
return this;
}
}
The old version was:
destroy: function() {
this.element.show();
this.container.remove();
$.widget.prototype.destroy.apply(this, arguments);
}
The reason of such changes is a new $.Widget introduced in jQuery 1.8. I also made the following changes/additions so that it would be compatible with IE9 and also provides a function to get selectedTexts as well.
// get all selected values in an array
selectedValues: function() {
return $.map( this.element.find('option[selected]=selected'), function(item,i) { return $(item).val(); });
},
selectedTexts: function () {
return $.map(this.element.find('option[selected]=selected'), function (item, i) { return $(item).html(); });
}

I have a bootstrap modal dialog on which I have a textbox that I want to leverage the functionality of jQuery UI Autocomplete widget. However the autocomplete widget isn't being fired at all. I know this as I placed a breakpoint on the action on my controller that should return the Json to be rendered by the autocomplete textbox. The action is never hit
Out of curiosity that I was doing something wrong, I copy pasted the textbox onto a View and to my dismay, the breakpoint on my action in the controller is hit. I have narrowed this down to the fact that may be the textbox is never wired to use the autocomplete feature once the DOM has loaded.
Here is the textbox on my modal
<input type="text" name="someName" id="autocomplete" data-autocomplete-url="#Url.Action("Autocomplete", "warehouses")" />
Here is the action method that returns the Json
public ActionResult Autocomplete(string term)
{
string[] names = { "Auma", "Dennis", "Derrick", "Dylan", "Mary", "Martha", "Marie", "Milly", "Abel", "Maria", "Bergkamp", "Arsene", "Alex", "Mwaura", "Achieng" };
var filtered = names.Where(a => a.IndexOf(term, StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase) >= 0);
return Json(filtered, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
}
And here is how I wire up the textbox to use the autocomplete widget
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#autocomplete').autocomplete({
source: $(this).data('autocomplete-url'),
data: {term: $(this).val() }
});
});
I have seen similar questions asked but none of them was due to the action not being hit.
As per the documentation for Bootstrap 3, they expose a set of events that you can hook into with most of their JS features.
In this case the events are:
show, shown, hide, hidden and loaded
The following code will initialize your autocomplete input field after the modal has been shown. (replace myModal with the id of the modal you are going to show)
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#myModal').on('shown.bs.modal', function (e) {
$("#autocomplete').autocomplete('destroy'); //remove autocompete to reattach
$('#autocomplete').autocomplete({
source: $(this).data('autocomplete-url'),
data: {term: $(this).val() }
});
});
});
If you are fetching a partial that contains the input field and appending it to the modal during the toggle, it will be better to do this initialization in the callback from that ajax request.
I'm loading in a report and displaying it with jquery-ui in tab format. The report is returned by an ajax call in json, and a function is formatting it into HTML. Example code below:
<div id="reportdiv">
</div>
<script>
function displayreport(objectid)
{
$( "#reportdiv" ).hide();
$( "#reportdiv" ).html("");
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
headers: { 'authtoken': getToken() },
url:'/reportservice/v1/report/'+objectid.id,
success: function(data){
if(data == null)
{
alert("That report does not exist.");
}
else
{
var retHTML = dataToTabHTML(data.config);
$("#reportdiv").html(retHTML).fadeIn(500);
$(function() {
tabs = $( "#reportdiv" ).tabs();
tabs.find( ".ui-tabs-nav" ).sortable({
axis: "x",
stop: function() {
tabs.tabs( "refresh" );
}
});
});
}
}
});
}
</script>
This works fine the first time displayreport is called. However, if the user enters another value and runs displayreport again, the "tabs" format is completely lost (the tabs are displayed as links above my sections, and clicking on a link takes you to that section further down the page).
I figured completely re-setting the reportdiv html at the beginning of the function would bring me back to original state and allow it to work normally every time. Any suggestions?
After more testing, found that destroy was the way to go. If I've set up tabs already, run the destroy, otherwise, skip the destroy (http://jsfiddle.net/scmxyras/1/) :
if(tabs!=undefined)$( "#reportdiv" ).tabs("destroy");
I've been able to replicate the problem here: http://jsfiddle.net/NE6dm/
I have the following HTML which I'm using in an app:
<div data-bind="foreach: items, jqAccordion: { active: false, collapsible: true }">
<h3>
</h3>
<div>
hello
</div>
</div>
<button title="Click to return to the complaints list." data-bind="click: addItem">Add Item</button>
The idea is to display an accordion for a bunch of items that will dynamically be added/removed via a Knockout observable array.
Here's some JavaScript code which I use:
// Tab.
var tab = function (questionSet) {
this.id = questionSet.code;
this.title = questionSet.description;
this.questionSet = questionSet;
};
Custom Knockout binding handler:
ko.bindingHandlers.jqAccordion = {
init: function (element, valueAccessor) {
var options = valueAccessor();
$(element).accordion(options);
$(element).bind("valueChanged", function () {
ko.bindingHandlers.jqAccordion.update(element, valueAccessor);
});
},
update: function (element, valueAccessor) {
var options = valueAccessor();
$(element).accordion('destroy').accordion(options);
}
};
var NonSequentialViewModel = function () {
var items = ko.observableArray();
items.push(new tab({ id: 23, description : 'Added Inline' }));
var addItem = function() {
items.push(new tab({ id: 5, description: 'Added by a click' }));
};
return {
addItem: addItem,
items: items
}
}
var nonsequentialViewModel = new NonSequentialViewModel();
ko.applyBindings(nonsequentialViewModel);
Now the problem is this - when I view the HTML page, the item 'Added Inline' appears fine, in that I can collapse and expand it. However, when I click the button 'Add Item', a new item is added to he accordion, but it has not styling at all. For example:
In the above image, the first item is styled correctly, however the remaining items have none of the jQuery UI styling applied. Basically, any item which is added dynamically does not have any accordion styling applied.
I have seen this question
knockout.js and jQueryUI to create an accordion menu
and I've tried using the jsFiddle included in the question, but I cannot see why my code doesn't have the same result.
I'm hoping someone else has experienced this before and can help.
EDIT:
I've looked into this further and see that the problem is this - when I add a new item to the oservable array, the custom handler's update method is not executed. Thus the redrawing of the accordion never happens.
I can't see why the update should not be called. This is realyl doing my head in! :)
EDIT:
I've been able to replicate the problem here: http://jsfiddle.net/NE6dm/
Your NonSequentialViewModel constructor doesn't return items array. Update return statement to this:
return {
items: items,
addItem: addItem
}
Here is working fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/vyshniakov/MfegM/323/
Old question, but I believe I was having the same problem.
I may need to submit a bug to knockout.js. I just spend several hours trying to figure out similar problems.
In short... if I load your jsfiddle and change the version of knockout to 2.1.0, it appears to work fine.
this:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://cloud.github.com/downloads/SteveSanderson/knockout/knockout-2.2.0.debug.js"></script>
to this:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://cloud.github.com/downloads/SteveSanderson/knockout/knockout-2.1.0.debug.js"></script>
(The only difference being the version 2.2.0 --> 2.1.0)
Further... I ended up settling on several versions:
jquery: 1.9.1
jquery-ui (combined): 1.9.2
knockoutjs: 2.1.0
I hope someone can help as I'm at my wits end with this. What I'm trying to do is this.
"Draggable" Item is Dropped into a "Droppable" area (this works)
This posts the id of the item to my controller which returns the type of item it is (this works)
I pass the returned item name to a function which opens a modal and renders a partial view in the modal depending on the particular item.
The last bit is where the issue is. All the steps above work fine, the modal is popped and the partial view is rendered to the modal. But the button to close the dialog throws the error ".dialog is not a function" and after closing the modal using the 'x' in the corner subsequent attempts to open the modal will not work throwing a similar error.
Here's the example I'm working with to try get this working.
$(function () {
$('.draggable').draggable({ containment: '#imageboundry', revert: 'valid' });
$('#droppable').droppable({
drop: function (event, ui) {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: '/Home/AddToCart/' + $(ui.draggable).attr("id"),
success: function (data) {
getItemType(data);
}
});
}
});
});
function getItemType(itemName) {
$('#dialogs').dialog({
open: function () {
$(this).load("AdditionalContent", { itemName: itemName }, function () {
alert("This happened");
});
},
modal: true,
resizable: false,
title: itemName,
width: 400,
autoOpen: false,
buttons: {
"Confirm": function () {
$(this).dialog('close');
}
}
});
}
This is my controller which returns the partial view to the modal
public PartialViewResult AdditionalContent(string itemName)
{
return PartialView("_" + itemName + "Attributes");
}
The close button works once I take out the open: function () { ... } bit and I can reopen the modal again and again but once I put this back in the error gets thrown. This is obviously the cause but cannot for the life of me figure out why.
Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for the very long post.
UPDATE:
I've attempted initializing the modal in document.ready and call it from my "drop" function in the first main function. From doing this I've narrowed it down to this line of code which loads the partial view from my controller. Without this line the functionality works. Any ideas on what is wrong with this.
$(this).load("AdditionalContent", { itemName: itemName }
I figured it out. Included in the partial views was a second call to the jQuery library which was added automatically when the view was created. Plus it was version 1.4.4 while I was using 1.5.1 straight from Google in the _Layout page. The second jQuery library was obviously breaking the functionality as there was a conflict between the two versions. It wasn't until I watched the FireBug console that I noticed the second loading of the 1.4.4 library.
Thanks to all for your help, feel like a bit of an idiot but lesson learned..... for now
could try this but i am not sure
$('#dialogs').dialog({
var self = this;
open: function () {
$(self).load("AdditionalContent", { itemName: itemName }, function () {
alert("This happened");
});
},
I am trying to get the ckeditor working. Obviously it doesn't make use of the textarea so on submit the form doesn't submit the text in the editor. Beceause I make use of polymorphic associations etc. I can't make a onsubmit function to get the value of the textarea (when the form is submitted) .
So I found this question: Using jQuery to grab the content from CKEditor's iframe
with some very good answers. The answers posted there keep the textarea up to date. That is very nice and just what I need! Unfortunately I can't get it to work.
Does somebody know why (for example) this doesn't work?
I have a textarea (rails but it just translates to a normal textarea):
<%= f.text_area :body, :id => 'ckeditor', :rows => 3 %>
And the following js:
if(CKEDITOR.instances.ckeditor ) {
CKEDITOR.remove(CKEDITOR.instances.ckeditor);
}
CKEDITOR.replace( 'ckeditor',
{
skin : 'kama',
toolbar :[['Styles', 'Format', '-', 'Bold', 'Italic', '-', 'NumberedList', 'BulletedList', 'Link']]});
CKEDITOR.instances["ckeditor"].on("instanceReady", function()
{
//set keyup event
this.document.on("keyup", CK_jQ);
//and paste event
this.document.on("paste", CK_jQ);
}
function CK_jQ()
{
CKEDITOR.instances.ckeditor.updateElement();
}
I get the following "error" in my firebug.
missing ) after argument list
[Break on this error] function CK_jQ()\n
Before submit do:
for(var instanceName in CKEDITOR.instances)
CKEDITOR.instances[instanceName].updateElement();
have you figured it out?
I'm using CKEditor version 3.6.1 with jQuery form submit handler. On submit the textarea is empty, which to me is not correct. However there is an easy workaround which you can use, presuming all your CKEditor textareas have the css class ckeditor.
$('textarea.ckeditor').each(function () {
var $textarea = $(this);
$textarea.val(CKEDITOR.instances[$textarea.attr('name')].getData());
});
Execute the above before you do your submit handling ie. form validation.
Thanks #JohnDel for the info, and i use onchange to make it update every change.
CKEDITOR.on('instanceReady', function(){
$.each( CKEDITOR.instances, function(instance) {
CKEDITOR.instances[instance].on("change", function(e) {
for ( instance in CKEDITOR.instances )
CKEDITOR.instances[instance].updateElement();
});
});
});
Combination of all of the above answers into one.
Create a new custom.js file and add this:
CKEDITOR.on('instanceReady', function(){
$.each( CKEDITOR.instances, function(instance) {
CKEDITOR.instances[instance].on("instanceReady", function() {
this.document.on("keyup", CK_jQ);
this.document.on("paste", CK_jQ);
this.document.on("keypress", CK_jQ);
this.document.on("blur", CK_jQ);
this.document.on("change", CK_jQ);
});
});
});
function CK_jQ() {
for ( var instance in CKEDITOR.instances ) { CKEDITOR.instances[instance].updateElement(); }
}
You don't have to worry about the name of the textarea, just add a class ckeditor in the textarea, the above and you are done.
ADD Function JavaScript for Update
function CKupdate() {
for (instance in CKEDITOR.instances)
CKEDITOR.instances[instance].updateElement();
}
It's work. Cool
Just Add
CKEDITOR.instances.textAreaClientId.on('blur', function(){CKEDITOR.instances. textAreaClientId.updateElement();});
where textAreaClientId is your instance name
Regards
CKEDITOR.instances["ckeditor"].on("instanceReady", function()
{
//set keyup event
this.document.on("keyup", CK_jQ);
//and paste event
this.document.on("paste", CK_jQ);
})
I just increase that to the response of T.J. and worked for me:
$("form").on("submit", function(e){
$('textarea.ckeditor').each(function () {
var $textarea = $(this);
$textarea.val(CKEDITOR.instances[$textarea.attr('name')].getData());
});
});
On load:
$(function () {
setTimeout(function () {
function CK_jQ(instance) {
return function () {
CKEDITOR.instances[instance].updateElement();
};
}
$.each(CKEDITOR.instances, function (instance) {
CKEDITOR.instances[instance].on("keyup", CK_jQ(instance));
CKEDITOR.instances[instance].on("paste", CK_jQ(instance));
CKEDITOR.instances[instance].on("keypress", CK_jQ(instance));
CKEDITOR.instances[instance].on("blur", CK_jQ(instance));
CKEDITOR.instances[instance].on("change", CK_jQ(instance));
});
}, 0 /* 0 => To run after all */);
});
There have been some API changes with the latest versions of CKEditor, so here's an answer for CKEditor 5:
let ckeditor;
// Create a CKEditor, and store its handle someplace that you may
// access later. In this example, we'll use the `ckeditor` variable:
ClassicEditor
.create(document.querySelector("textarea"), {})
.then(editor => { ckeditor = editor; });
// When your form submits, use the `updateSourceElement` method
// on the editor's handle:
document.querySelector("form").addEventListener("submit", function() {
ckeditor.updateSourceElement();
});
To my knowledge, CKEditor does this automatically when you submit a form, so this particular example shouldn't actually do anything. But it is useful when you need the content of the textarea to udpate without submitting the form that contains it.
All above answer are focusing on how to fix this error but I want to take the answer on what cause me this error
I had a
<textarea class="ckeditor" rows="6" name="Cms[description]"></textarea>
changed to
<textarea class="ckedit" rows="6" name="Cms[description]"></textarea>
I changed class attribute value to anything other than ckeditor and boom error gone.
Hope that help
