I have a metro style app created from a Visual Studio 11 template. I created strings\en\Resources.resx and string\cs\Resources.resx. I have an English Windows 8 installation set to czech (cs) locale. When I run the application, English resources from strings\en\Resources.resx are always picked up. Date formatting is also in English locale (DateTime.ToString() showing English month names). When I delete strings\en\Resources.resx the string\cs\Resources.resx gets picked up and everything works just fine.
Can anyone help? I also tried to set the Neutral language in the assembly settings to Czech and edited DefaultLang in .csproj but nothing seems to work.
I found this on MSDN:
Test the app for the other languages.
Open the Control Panel, and select Clock, Language, and Region >
Change display language.
Note that the language that was displayed when you ran the app is
the topmost language listed that is English, German, or French.
If your topmost language is not one of these three, the app falls
back to the next one on the list the app supports.
If you do not have all three of these languages on your machine, add
the missing ones by clicking Add a language and adding
them to the list.
To test the app with another language, select the language in the
list and click Move up until it is at the top. Then run the app.

I am working on this localization project for an app.
All of our English strings are in LocalizationResources.resx. Now we are trying to support for Japanese. We now include the Japanese version of resx i:e LocalizationResources.ja-JP.resx to the same location/solution project where english resx resides.
According to Microsoft there is no code change needed because .NET is smart enough to pick the correct resx file based on the current system locale.
When we run the app from Visual studio in Japanese locale, the app launches in Japanese. Thats good...
When we run the app by running an exe (generated by building the solution) in Japanese locale, the app launches in Japanese. Thats good as well...
BUT when we build solution to generate an MSI, then install it in Japanese locale, then launch the App it shows up in English!!! Clearly the visual studio and the exe know to read from Japanese resx but why doesnt the app(installed by MSI) run in Japanese???
I tried several combinations of settings for the resx file, such as "Build Action" = "Embedded resources", and "Copy to output directory" = Copy always/copy if new/do not copy.
I know for the fact that our packing tools do not differentiate or exclude any file from being part of MSI. So how to resolve this?

I already know that there are localization tools like TsiLang, TLanguages, DKLang and so (I already rely on them) but I wanted to try this built in feature.
All you need to do is to compile and build the whole group not just the project, you can find this under:
Project > Compile All Projects
Project > Build All Projects
Then run your project again, it should run the language you have been set as Active
Today, I wanted to create a Setup file for Project in VS Community 2017. When I import file .sln in Advanced Installer 11.1. I receive notification from Advanced Installer.
Latest Version: Not my exertise, but off the top of my head: 1)The first thing you might want to do is to download the latest version of Advanced Installer (15.0.1 at the time of writing), to see if this solves the whole problem.
Language Issue?: If that doesn't solve things (which it just might do), then 2) I suppose this may have to do with the language. It looks like you have a Vietnamese VS project? That Advanced Installer project you show is set to "English" (look at title bar - it says "English US"). Maybe check the view "Translations". It does not look like Vietnamese is one of the supported, built-in languages for Advanced Installer (as of now). Towards the top right, select "All" in the "Show" box and select Vietnamese.
Path Issue?: 3) Perhaps also try to copy the VS project to a path which does not have Vietnamese character in the file and path name? Then try to run the import again.
VS Project Issue?: 4) Perhaps there are weird characters inside the VS Project that cause the problems? I guess there certainly are characters in there that are not normal, Western characters in your case.
Advanced Installer Community: That was just a couple of thoughts off the top of my head - essentially all about language and encoding, there could obviously be further issues. Also reminding you of the Advanced Installer Community Forums. Please try your luck there if you don't get any good answers here.

Jenkins help entries are displayed in mixed languages.
I am using Jenkins with Google Chrome 43 under Win 7 Professional. Chrome is configured to be displayed in US English. The OS user interface is in German.
Jenkins user interface is displayed properly, i.e. in English. However some help items are displayed in German, some are in English, although they belong to the same section.. In Advanced Project Options the help text for Block build when upstream project is building is displayed in German, whereas for Block build when downstream project is building is displayed n English.

This isn't a standard feature in Jira. You'll need to go through the language pack and translate the transitions.
