On app release update - are the images kept or renewed? - ios

When submitting a binary update, if I've replaced some images will they automatically be rolled out? Or does the app on release keep the old images? Assuming of course, that I've cleaned the app, and refreshed the build prior to compile. I'm guessing it probably does reset the files... But wanted to hear from someone else??

The old images are removed and replaced by the new ones. Don't forget to update the version of the app in the project setting's:

When Apps are updated the download the entire app all over again. So any changes you make to your submission to the App store will propagate to all users who update.
The Only thing you have to make sure of is to remove the image from the Project or at least the build target.

AppStore - Build not found

I archived a new version of application on XCode and uploaded it on app store using XCode , however when I open all builds from app store connect , I am not able to find the build. Thus I am not able to choose the build on the version. to submit for review.
I'm having the same issue as well, it has been 20 hours since I upload my build when I'm writing this and it's still nowhere to be seen.
I also tried to upload a second build and it's also not showing.
So I believe it's an Apple issue and not isolated, looks like we can only wait for now.
Edit: It works now. I assume it works for everyone now.
I also had this issue this morning. I have just now uploaded a new build of my app and the new build now appears, the missing one still doesn't appear. You will need to change the version number and re-archive your app, as otherwise it will be rejected as a redundant upload.
Update after 10 minutes the new build also disappears. Awesome..
After archieved file uploaded successfully it will go into processing stage. Where they are checking the internal settings using the automated tools.
Things will be checked like if any permission issues coming etc.
Lets say of example if you are using camera into your application but you have not given permission into.plist file than it will get failed into processing & removed build from the App Store.
Also if you have set up the permission properly but not given instructions that how & why this gets used than also build will get failed into processing stage. So there can be various reasons.
Ofcourse they will send you an email to your Admin email Id about the build failed while processing with the reason so by that you can resolve the issue.
Hope this will helps to everyone.

Delphi-XE4 iOS uploading new releases somehow ignored

I have a very mysterious problem.
I am somehow not uploading my new app versions correctly even if everything it seemingly correct. I determine this by download the "new" versions and seeing nothing has changed.
1)
Before release I test my changes are included and working on device-debug + device-adhoc.
2)
I then build and deploy for app store. Before uploading my .ipa file into "Application Loader" I make sure the .ipa file has just been generated. I then select it and the upload/verification process goes find without errros and some days later I get a message new app has been released...
3)
I then uninstall my existing app (just to make sure) and download and install the new app version from appstore - it is still the same. This is driving me nuts. I think I have tried to eliminate potential places where I could have errored, but somehow somewhere something is going terrible wrong for me. This is a fairly recent new problem - never had it in the past.
I am hoping if somehow can think of ways I can diagnose at what steps this is going wrong... I know it must be me that have an error somewhere. I recognize when something looks like a "Doh!" thing, but I believe I have tried a varity of methods to pinpoint it.
I have also tried clear out out scratch/temp directory before building + deploying. However, I am still wondering. Could it be some cache/path setting somewhere that makes Delphi compile incorrect app executable only when doing release builds? (I have of course also long time ago deleted all old directory paths that could contain earlier builds, but still...)
I did not see that you have already tried it on a new buddy phone & it worked. So editing my answer.
Can you try to remove your device ID from the profile settings in developer page & give a try downloading it.
There may be problem in building & compiling with Delphi.
Here is a post that differentiates between the same.
Please do see the accepted answer for that question here.
Hope that helps. (I know you are really pissed off waiting for the whole long app approval process & annoyed seeing the same old version.)
I had a buddy try download the latest app version, and he successfully and ran the new version... So I now must assume it is somehow my iPhone that is strange. I remove all app instances (debug, old appstore download) - then download the new version from app store. After that, my iPhone shows the "new" text on the launch icon, but still launches an old version... somehow

Thoroughly Cleaning Out App Data for Clean Build?

I have never had a problem like this but its clear a thorough clean out of all app data related to my project needs to be done as I am getting a crash related to UICollectionView which I have no removed any reference to in its entirety. I have tested the build on the simulator after resting its contents and it runs without the crash.
For building to my iPhone, I have deleted the app, restarted my iPhone, cleaned the project in Xcode, quit Xcode, restarted my computer and re-built and run. However my iPhone seems to be remembering something from that old build, resulting in this error to still be prevelent.
So how can I truly once and for all (without restoring my bleeding iPhone) clean out any old data related to my Xcode build?
Thanks.
Deleting the app on your phone should be sufficient. Your phone will not "remember" the app, as you suggest it might be. The only thing an app can physically leave behind after being deleted is anything that it put into the Keychain, such as a username/password that was saved there. Other than that, nothing can be left behind after an app deletion (at least not for practical purposes, I'm not trying to claim that iOS zeroes out the bits).
That said, obviously do a clean in Xcode and then delete your derived data. For full instructions on doing a complete clean, see the answer to the following question: How to Empty Caches and Clean All Targets Xcode 4
Have you tried deleting the Derived Data in Organizer? Press Command-Shift-2 and go to the Projects tab. Under your projects you should see a long path to Derived Data. Delete that, restart your computer, and let Xcode reindex your project. Link to a screenshot

ios - xCode changes do not appear after creating an Archive

I just created an Archive and now I am trying to add more changes, but for some reason, when I run the emulator, the changes I make do not show up, and the old version of the app runs.
Also, my repository shows the changed files, but for some reason xCode compiles the previous versions of them.
Would anyone know why the predicament I am in might occur?
Thanks!
Did you change the bundle ID in anyway to make the archive? If you do this xcode will build the app and it will feel like its installing the new one but you're really only seeing a previous version.
You should delete all versions on your phone, do a clean and then run it again to try to fix this unless there is something else going on.

Xcode Build and Archive for Enterprise Distribution builds old archive

I'm working on creating an app for in house distribution enterprise level. I've created the app and tested hosting it on my own server and even getting the click to install working. Now though I have some updates to the app, I make the edits and I even see them in the simulator. When I build and archive the app things seem fine, then I go to the archived project in the organizer window, click the share button and distribute for enterprise, I enter details such as the ipa final url and the app title and then ok & save. Then I upload the app to my server and update any links to point to this new app. The click to install still works properly, but it installs the old version of the app. I've even tried this on a new device. Is there some step I'm mission that tells Xcode some version to build? If so, I don't get is how the simulator shows the update fine, but the archive that is built is not showing the latest code. The app I can find in the simulator dirs is 9.4MB in file size, but the one that is saved after build and archive is only 1.4MB (the update involves a lot of added images), so is the build for archive is not even getting the new files?
if a clean won't work, try completely removing the derived data folder.
the default location is in /Users/you/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData . if you haven't played with the DerivedData location in preferences, this is likely where you'll find the sub-folder containing the cache.
when i encounter a situation similar to the original question (retaining items i've deleted, or similarly missing items i've added or holding onto project icons i've changed), i perform a clean on my project, close it, hit Deleteā€¦ in the organizer, possibly even remove it from the organizer, possibly even remove from disk and then re-checkout from git if you have it under version control in this way, then re-open the project from scratch.
I figured it out and thought I should post it in case it helped someone else.
I cleaned the project.
Build > Clean - not 100% on what "Clean" is supposed to mean/do, but it allowed the project to build from the current files rather than the old files somehow.
