Google's Shopping Search API (see https://developers.google.com/shopping-search/) is one of many services that has a simple barcode-to-product-metadata interface and will give you back product data in XML/JSON or other. It's pretty straightforward to use, but if you're unsure of how to make it work, I believe you can look at how the barcode scanning app Zxing uses it (the code for which is available).

I'm doing my final project for a coding school that will be a deep song search app that returns every detail about a song (composer, personnel on the track, lyrics, studio, media uses, images, etc). I'm using React frontend/Rails backend API. I'm new to API's and have tried Discogs and Musicbrainz but find the Mediawiki to be the easiest to traverse. Messing with their sandbox using Query, I feel like I'm getting closer but wondering if anyone with more experience out there could help me get precisely what I need.
I would like a music search to return a list of matches (could be same title but different songs or same title but different recordings). A user can click on the results to see the details. I would like the API to return links and hopefully images (album cover, etc). Does anyone know the best way to go about this?
I've also tried using the Ruby Gem wrapper Mediawikitory https://github.com/molybdenum-99/mediawiktory. I like the clean interface but can't quite find the right parameters.
The closest I've come to what I'm looking for in the Mediawiki sandbox is an example like this for the All Star (Smash Mouth):

This gives a list of songs (I'll have to concatenate '(song)' in every search unless there's a specific category parameter I don't know about).
So with further research I was able to drill down to specific song searches (and this will work for any thing this specific). You have to use srsearch and then search option in lists. So an example for a list of songs based on a given title:

Make sure you choose version 2 as it gives you a better formatted Object to map over.
The Mediawiki API is very robust. You just have to spend a little time with it. The sandbox is great.
I am working with iTunes store's customer reviews API and I have some questions, the general URL is like this:

I have two questions, the first is I don't want to specify the country, so I remove the country code like this:

...but still, the reviews and rates belong to the US store, Is there any possible way to get a summary of rates and reviews worldwide?
Secondly, can I change the result sort defined by sortBy=mostRecent?
My third question is if I develop an app which monitors reviews and rates with Apple's official API, does Apple reject my app for reasons like scraping their website or something like that?

There is no publicly documented way of changing the sort order.
I'd be surprised if you ran into any problems - after all, you're not scraping their website, but using an API they've exposed for that very purpose. Others have been doing it for a long time, e.g. https://reviewbot.io/ or https://appbot.co/. But there's only one way to find out for sure.
You can't get all countries, only the ones you specify, us is default.
There is a limit, of as far as I know, 50 reviews you can get trough
pagination links provided in the las result item.
You can load .../xml or .../json
You can only sort by mostRecent
The first result item is not a review but an app description.
Your last question can only be answered by Apple.
The problem is currently .xml doesn't work and for your question to monitor in bulk, if you know R there's a package in R itunesr that can help solve extract bulk data.
I want to use the IB Api, but cannot figure our how the request a complete symbol list and information.
In the Documentation i found: reqScannerParameters() - but it is not clear how to get a list for example of nasdaq stocks ?
Is there a better way ?
As far as I am aware IB does not offer a symbol list. But the good news is it is easy and free to get elsewhere. Eoddata.com is a good source of it and you can download them, or automate it rather easily.

It is fairly easy to implement a piece of code scraping all stocks symbol from IB's website.
NYSE stocks are available from IB website
Just replace 'nyse' with another exchange's name like nasdaq or amex.
If you go to their products listing you can drill down to find lists of the entire universe of products (in case the link expires, I just googled "IB Product Listings")

Create mobile application, which gives the user ability to look for certain places (payment terminals) nearby and to add new ones. Of course user will have ability to edit places, change some of their meta-info fields, add photos, etc.
I can understand, how to implement such things at the mobile device side(i mean interface and model), but can't imagine, what i have to do at the "google-side" to store locations and get them to device.
I'm looking through developers.google.com for appropriate service, but google have so much different "Maps" services and their variety makes me disappointed, which one can give me necessary instruments.
I'm sorry, if my question is too stupid but i can't realize how to implement such functionality.
If anybody ever made such applications, please help me to find, at least, the service, which can help me to implement such functionality. Sample code at github will be the great!
You're looking to build a "back-end" or a database to store the locations that you are interested in. This means that you will save them on a server, that you will access through requests over the internet from your iPhone.
For a really simple back-end to set up, check out Parse that is very simple to implement.
I'm trying to build an iOS application that has to store lots of text (immutable) data (about 500 pages of a book) and should have the following functionalities:
Organize text into chapters and display
Search for words and autocomplete. Search results should be based on most number of occurrences of a word. The search functionality is key for the application.
Based on this i wanted to know a couple of things
Whats the best way to store and retrieve this data and to perform a search (everything is local , no data on a server)?
Are there any third party frameworks that help you to do this in a faster way?

And this post suggests the use of CoreData and MagicRecord. Is this enough for me to integrate the search functionality as well?
More information on the same and other resources/tools/third party frameworks would be helpful!
