I already add the twitter4j-core-2.2.0.jar in my project build path but it still showing the error.
My code
Twitter twitter = new Twitter(twitter_userid,twitter_password);
Have you looked at the documentation for twitter4j? Twitter is an interface, so it cannot be instantiated. Also, instead of the twitter password, you need to use OAuth. A lot of the API can be used anonymously, too, though.
Look at the examples I linked to, but in the end it should look something like
Twitter twitter = new TwitterFactory().getInstance();
with the OAuth credentials in twitter4j.properties:
oauth.consumerKey=something
oauth.consumerSecret=something
oauth.accessToken=something
oauth.accessTokenSecret=something

I am trying to call following Twitter's API to get a list of followers for a user.
http://api.twitter.com/1.1/followers/ids.json?cursor=-1&screen_name=username
And I am getting this error message in response.
{
code = 215;
message = "Bad Authentication data";
}
I can't seem to find the documentation related to this error code. Anyone has any idea about this error?
Your request lacks authentication data. I got that error when I simply clicked on http://api.twitter.com/1.1/followers/ids.json?cursor=-1&screen_name=username. This is not the way to access twitter API.
Create a Twitter app from https://apps.twitter.com/. Then, try using a Twitter API Library to access REST API. If you are comfortable with using ruby apps on command line interface check out https://github.com/sferik/t. Set it up and then try t followers [USER] for listing all followers of USER.
You will have to use OAuth. More info can be found on Twitter website. Here: https://dev.twitter.com/oauth
This error is coming because your Twitter developers account is not approved. Now-a-days you can't make app without getting your developers account approved from Twitter.
To make an app, you need to contact Twitter and apply for developers account. If you are lucky engough, you will get approval although this process may take months.
If you just need the data, go for third party services like followersanalysis[dot]com, birdsonganalytics[dot]com
I am using instagram to recieve the list of people i follow and although api returns the status code 200 I recieve absolutely no data.I tried using postman client instead of my code and even from there no data is being returned I am hitting the following service.
https://api.instagram.com/v1/users/self/follows?access_token=token
one thing to be noted is my application is in sandbox mode and this same access token is working and fetching other information about the user including media shared by the user and its basic information etc and user follows and is followed by several users.
Please suggest the solution thanks in advance.
I may have answer to this question since I was facing the same issue on my WinRT project yesterday.
You may need the relationship scope instead of 'follower_list' scope.
I am assuming that you have provided the scope as 'follower_list' in the authorization URL and logged in as yourself or through your own Instagram account(the same account with which you have created your Instagram app). And now if you are hitting the above service it will return nothing in data since you are requesting if the user is following you or not(so obviously you are not following yourself)!! So if you try logging in with someone else's Instagram account and hit the above service with follower_list scope it will return your Instagram account in data if the logged in person is following you.
EDIT
The above service will return all the users that are following you AND present in your sandbox users list. (Or at least that is my conclusion on this)
For further clarification try https://apigee.com/console/instagram for hitting this service there they are using the relationship scope.
I am developing an iOS app and want to implement native sign in via Twitter. I am using an example I found here that includes 2 steps, request token and access token. For the second step I use my twitter ACAccount (account.framework) and my app consumer_key and consumer_secret, and finally obtain an oath_token and oath_token_secret.
The problem is that when I try to fetch data with that token in my app API I get invalid token.
I think a step might be missing here or something. I look at every post related to sign in via Twitter and couldn't solve this...
Thanks everyone
This is the example I based my code

I did almost everything the same, I am using ARC
I'm trying to get a iOS client to make use of Yammer's Oauth2 to validate a user. I first tried the GTM-OAuth2 code, but I cannot get it to understand the response from Yammer. It appears that the GTM code is expecting the access_code as a query parameter, where as Yammer is returning it as a uri fragment. I hack he GTM code to see the fragment, but now it appears to be thinking that there is an error because the code and message fields are not in the response from Yammer.
I've also tried to use OAuth2Client api but the problem there is that Yammer does not seem to want to use the redirect_uri I pass to it, so Safari never gets the custom url and therefore never calls back to the app.
Does anyone have a working example of using Yammer's OAuth2?
I would also be interested if anyone has got GTM-OAuth2 to work with Facebook?
Yeah Yammer has a shitty implementation of oAuth. Looks like each service has taken its own implementation of oauth. anyway yammer requires the user to copy a 4-digit code from its website, go back to your service paste that code in your website. Only then you can request for access code.
check this - http://www.tutorialjinni.com/2011/04/yammer-api-example.html (its in php but hope you can get the gist).
Nothing you can do about it but a fun read - Yammer API sucks
I am using Omni auth gem to load twitter feeds into my application.
But when i try to load direct messages, its not letting the application to direct messages.
I researched and found that when adding a twitter account, usually the system takes us to
https://api.twitter.com/oauth/authenticate
but i found my applicatin could access direct message when the request made to twitter during twitter account add process will be like below
https://api.twitter.com/oauth/authorize
where do i configure this in Omniauth gem?
Please give me a hand on this.
thanks.
This can be done by adding client_options: {authorize_path: '/oauth/authorize'}
under config/initializers/omniauth.rb under provider :twitter.
