I'm trying to get access to information for the main feed in Pinterest so that I can extract the link URLs and use them as part of a study on social engagement on the web that I am doing.
I know that it is possible to access an rss of a particular user with pinterest.com/user/pin-board/rss however I have not been able to find a way to gain access to the main page with the stream of new pins and this is even restricted so that you must specify individual boards that the user has.
I am currently working to get the information I am looking for via registration of an app to get me the access token I need but it would be much better if I could find a way that didn't require such a long winded approach.
Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

I'm currently writing a shop-related site that has it's own community in different social networks. While posting to VKontakte and Facebook is less of an issue (I can understand the concept of "group", and VK actually has an option to write posts using the group's name), Twitter is more troublesome.
Two questions:
Is there even such a thing as "groups" in Twitter? The closest I have seen is lists and timelines, but neither appears to solve my issue.
I cannot give the operator access to the twitter account. VK has a specific option when posting in a group to use that group's name as poster name. How does this work in Twitter?
I need something akin to what lamoda has set up. (It appears to be a user, and every post is labeled as written by that user, however I doubt they give their ops access to the actual twitter account).
P.S.: I'm already done with getting past OAuth and using REST to actually post, thus no code provided. I'm just having trouble with the statuses/update.json call, if that's what I should actually be using.

It appears I have been overcomplicating. There are no groups in twitter, or even comments at that. You can only post to your own feed or re-post from somebody else's.
Posting to someone's feed (a shop account's, say) is simple enough using that account's pre-generated access token which can be stored in the configs.
I have a list of tweets that are using a hashtag I made. I'm getting these tweets using the search api. All I want is to get the number of retweets. I DO NOT need to post on their behalf. It seams ridiculous that I would need to have every single user login to my site, login to twitter and approve my application via OAUTH for EVERY TWEET IN MY LIST. There's gotta be a way to get that number without the need for oauth.
I tried getting it directly from the search api, but that's not consistently there. I've tried https://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/show/275729088709283840.json but that doesn't work, for some reason. Is there anyway to do this extremely simple task without going down the asinine road of user-interaction?

How do I know if a specific twitter user is currently online by writing programs? Is there any API or data field in the web page showing this information? Both browsing Twitter webpage and using Twitter app are considered "online".
Although this information is not readily available, you can do a work around. Make use of Twitter's Streaming API: https://dev.twitter.com/docs/streaming-apis/streams/public (have a read through this document).
You'll most likely be using the POST Statuses/filter functionality (read the doc here: https://dev.twitter.com/docs/api/1/post/statuses/filter ), which will give you a JSON object with tweets based on your filters.
Make use of the parameters you'll need to specify in the URL to filter the stream (have a look through this document to learn more about it: https://dev.twitter.com/docs/streaming-apis/parameters ), in your case it'll be the follow parameter. You basically specify the twitter ID of the user you want to follow. Here's a sample JSON result of the streaming API in action https://stream.twitter.com/1/statuses/filter.json?follow=25365536 - this one in particular is following Kim Kardashian. Keep in mind that this will give you:
Tweets created by the user.
Tweets which are retweeted by the user.
Replies to any Tweet created by the user.
Retweets of any Tweet created by the user.
So in order to just stream the tweets of your desired user, you'll have to use a programming language of your choice to parse through the JSON object to find the user that actually sent the tweet (this is a little tricky, you'll have to look through the properties of the JSON object to figure it out). Once you narrow the streaming tweets to just the ones from the user though, you can then have an alert on when new tweets by this user stream and that will tell you if the user is online/using twitter at the moment.
It's not clear what you mean by "online" (browsing twitter.com? Using a Twitter app?), but in any case Twitter doesn't provide such information, thankfully.

I'm working on a Google Calendar Gadget and need to load data for the user from a remote server. It's simple stuff, like favorite color, but I need the user's ID. Using makeRequest works in general, but I need to send the account name, or a hash of it, or any sort of identifier to my server so it gets the right data. What's the easiest way to get that info? Currently it asks the user via HTML form, every single time it loads, which is pretty lame.
I've been looking at OAuth stuff, trying examples, and nothing works... I got an OAuth client key but don't know how/where to use it (or if I do use it with a Gadget). I found the Calendar feed/scope URI but I'm not really sure if that's correct to just get a user identifier, maybe I should use accounts. Half the examples are for OAuth 1.0...it's really frustrating.
Does anyone know a way to do this, or a good example/tutorial that explains how, for a Gadget? I think Gadgets are different since they run on Google's servers...but don't really know how this makes them different in this context.

I'm trying to make use of various APIs including twitter, youtube, etc because we want to embed recent entries (tweets, videos) on our website.
However, since I'm just retrieving my own data, I'm wondering how I can do this simpler than the multi-step process required by OAuth.
Twitter provides me with my own access token I can use directly, so that kinda works, but I can't find any such token in the YouTube documentation.
So how am I supposed to make use of the api if I just want to get a simple list of stuff? how exaclty am I supposed to authenticate my own website to use my own account?
I think i might have things all wrong and if so please point me in the right direction. I tried using rss feeds but they don't give me as much control over what I retrieve as using the API directly...
any insight or suggestions are appreciated!
