how to set an image as background in blackberry - blackberry

I was able to add the background only to the fields that were added in the screen with the below code:
VerticalFieldManager manager = new VerticalFieldManager();
Bitmap image = Bitmap.getBitmapResource("Penguins.jpg");
Background bg = BackgroundFactory.createBitmapBackground(image);
manager.setBackground(bg);
manager.add(new LabelField("HEll"));
add(manager);</code>
the output screen is like below:
How will get the image filled with whole screen, with the fields visible on top of it. Thank you

Bitmap background = Bitmap.getBitmapResource("background.png");
VerticalFieldManager vfm = new VerticalFieldManager(USE_ALL_HEIGHT | USE_ALL_WIDTH) {
public void paint(Graphics g) {
g.drawBitmap(0, 0, "Device Width", "Device Height",
background, 0, 0);
super.paint(g);
}
};
vfm.add(new LabelField("HEll"));
add(vfm);

You can also use this code to set the background image in Blackberry, But this works only 5.0 or above.
Background bg = BackgroundFactory.createBitmapBackground(Bitmap bitmap);
// OR
Background bg = BackgroundFactory.createBitmapBackground(Bitmap bitmap, int positionX, int positionY, int repeat);
this.getMainManager().setBackground(bg);

how to set layout background image in blackberry

I am trying to set VerticalFieldManager background image. here is my code hope it would help you to find problem.
my problem is
1) background image is appear but not get full height of the image.
VerticalFieldManager verFM = new VerticalFieldManager(USE_ALL_WIDTH );
Bitmap bt = Bitmap.getBitmapResource("top_bar#2x.png");
BitmapField btm = new BitmapField(bt);
btm.getPreferredHeight();
verFM.add(btm);
VerticalFieldManager VFM = new VerticalFieldManager( USE_ALL_HEIGHT);
VFM.setMargin(5, 5, 10, 40);
VFM.setPadding(5, 5, 60, 10);
System.out.println();
Bitmap bitmap = Bitmap.getBitmapResource("registration_form_bg#2x.png");
Background bgg = BackgroundFactory.createBitmapBackground(bitmap,Background.POSITION_X_LEFT, Background.POSITION_Y_TOP,Background.REPEAT_SCALE_TO_FIT);
VFM.setBackground(bgg);
verFM.add(VFM);
add(verFM);

How to change Background of HorizontalFieldManager

I want to set the Background of HorizontalFieldManager.
The sample code I've been searching is setting the background using Gradient for the main screen background.
//create gradient linear for background
this.getMainManager().setBackground(BackgroundFactory.createLinearGradientBackground(0x0099CCFF,
0x0099CCFF,0x00336699,0x00336699)
);
Then I try to use the same pattern to set background to HorizontalFieldManager, since it have this method. But it won't work. Here's the code
HorizontalFieldManager hManager = new HorizontalFieldManager();
Bitmap bitmapImage = null;
bitmapImage = Bitmap.getBitmapResource("img/home.png");
tabHome = new BitmapField(bitmapImage, BitmapField.FOCUSABLE
| BitmapField.HIGHLIGHT_FOCUS);
bitmapImage = Bitmap.getBitmapResource("img/in.png");
tabCheckInOut = new BitmapField(bitmapImage, BitmapField.FOCUSABLE
| BitmapField.HIGHLIGHT_FOCUS);
bitmapImage = Bitmap.getBitmapResource("img/barcode.png");
tabBarcode = new BitmapField(bitmapImage, BitmapField.FOCUSABLE
| BitmapField.HIGHLIGHT_FOCUS);
bitmapImage = Bitmap.getBitmapResource("img/options.png");
tabOptions = new BitmapField(bitmapImage, BitmapField.FOCUSABLE
| BitmapField.HIGHLIGHT_FOCUS);
tabHome.setFocusListener(this);
tabCheckInOut.setFocusListener(this);
tabBarcode.setFocusListener(this);
tabOptions.setFocusListener(this);
Background topBack = BackgroundFactory.createSolidBackground(0x00606A85);
hManager.setBackground(topBack);
hManager.add(tabHome);
hManager.add(tabCheckInOut);
hManager.add(tabBarcode);
hManager.add(tabOptions);
add(hManager);
I'm using HorizontalFieldManager and add 4 BitmapField, then I using BackgroundFactory to create solidBackground, and set it to the manager
but when I run it, the background color does not apply. The gradient example work well. Is there anything that I'm missing? Please help me.
Thanks
After doing some deep web search. Here's the answer guys
HorizontalFieldManager manager = new HorizontalFieldManager()
{
public void paint(Graphics graphics)
{
graphics.setBackgroundColor(0x000000FF);//blue
graphics.clear();
super.paint(graphics);
}
};
UPDATE:
You must only use Web Color
such as 0x006699FF should work
but 0x00606A85 would not work.
if you want a specific color, i recommend you using bitmap.
UPDATE:
Another solution
HorizontalFieldManager manager = new HorizontalFieldManager(Field.USE_ALL_WIDTH);
manager.setBackground(BackgroundFactory.BackgroundFactory
.createSolidBackground(0x00cccccc));

Drawing Bitmap as MainScreen Background. How to Stretch Image?

I want the background image to stretch all screen. I simply created a VerticalFieldManager and modified paint method.
verticalFieldManager = new VerticalFieldManager(VerticalFieldManager.USE_ALL_WIDTH
| VerticalFieldManager.NO_HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR) {
public void paint(Graphics graphics) {
graphics.drawBitmap(0, 0, this.getWidth(), this.getHeight(),
backgroundBitmap, 0, 0);
super.paint(graphics);
}
};
And when i add a ListField to the verticalFieldManager and scroll, background image is not repaint. How can i repaint background when scroll?
Create EncodedImage from your Bitmap, or even directly extract EncodedImage from resources - EncodedImage.getEncodedImageResource("res/bg.png").
Then use this to scale it:
public static EncodedImage resize(EncodedImage eImage, int toWidth,
int toHeight, boolean keepAspectRatio) {
int scaleX = Fixed32.div(
Fixed32.toFP(eImage.getWidth()),
Fixed32.toFP(toWidth)
);
int scaleY = Fixed32.div(
Fixed32.toFP(eImage.getHeight()),
Fixed32.toFP(toHeight)
);
if (keepAspectRatio) {
int scale = (scaleX > scaleY) ? scaleX : scaleY;
return eImage.scaleImage32(scale, scale);
} else {
return eImage.scaleImage32(scaleX, scaleY);
}
}
Then you may draw the EncodedImage on the Graphics object:
graphics.drawImage(
0, 0,
encodedImage.getScaledWidth(), ncodedImage.getScaledHeight(),
encodedImage, 0, 0, 0
);

What is the easiest way to set background image of the application on Blackberry

I know, this question was asked before. However I can't beleive that this operation is so difficult. I think i miss some important points on developing Blackberry applications.
Try to use the following code:
Bitmap backgroundBitmap = Bitmap.getBitmapResource("background.png");
HorizontalFieldManager horizontalFieldManager = new
HorizontalFieldManager(HorizontalFieldManager.USE_ALL_WIDTH |
HorizontalFieldManager.USE_ALL_HEIGHT){
//Override the paint method to draw the background image.
public void paint(Graphics graphics)
{
//Draw the background image and then call super.paint
//to paint the rest of the screen.
graphics.drawBitmap(0, 0, Display.getWidth(), Display.getHeight(),
backgroundBitmap, 0, 0);
super.paint(graphics);
}
};
