We have a reporting solution based on SSRS, but now, we have a requirement to support these reports in iPads as well...Is this possible with ReportViewer Contol? If not is there any other controls out there like Report Viewer Control that could meet the requirement...
What are the other options for me?
Any help is highly appreciated.
It has been announced to be fixed in Q2 -12

Another option is to use a third party iTunes app, such as ReportPlus, which allows to display SSRS reports on the iPad, and use them for dashboard authoring.

First Question:
Is it possible to show the Users preview Pictures for every Feature?
If they go with the mouse on the Feature I want to have a description
and a preview Picture from the elements to install!
For example: for a Game different Modifications!
I can't find this function in the Installer and I think I have searched a lot!
And second question:
Is it possible to disable the "advanced Installer" inscription on every Installer side?
1) The standard MSI controls do not support this kind of user interaction. However, Advanced Installer does have an UI theme for the dialogs where you can use HTML and JS to render a custom UI for the end users. You could try use that.
2) Yes, but only if you have a license for the Enterprise or Architect edition. You can customize your dialogs in any way you desire, from Dialogs page.
The same license is also required to try to the solution from the first question.
With the trial version of Advanced Installer you can use any of these feature for 30 days, for free.
I'm planning to use list & label as a reporting tool for my MVC Web Application, I downloaded the trial version and the sample code was really helpful.
I'm almost settled on using this as my app's reporting tool but I'm thinking twice on their web app report designer tool, because I needed to install the chrome extension before I can use it.
I'm using version LL v.20
So my questions are:
Is the chrome extension really needed for the designer to work? I'm thinking that if my app goes live, will I require my clients to install this plugin first?
Will the designer have issues on other browser? So far I haven't seen extensions/plugins for IE (only Fireforx, Safari, Opera, Chrome).
PS. If all else fail, can you suggest an alternative for this? The reporting tool that I need is web-based and allows end-users to edit the reports. Thanks!
1) Yes, you need to install the plugin on the client side.
2) For IE, there's a Designer ActiveX. Simply open your existing app in IE, you should be offered to install the OCX right away.
As to your general concerns:
We plan to replace the plugins with a client-side application that can be one-time installed with a couple of clicks in LL21. The reasoning is the step-by-step deprecation of plugins by most browser vendors. Changing between the plugins and the new designer app will be quite easy. The new designer will also support previewing at design time. Depending on when you plan to ship your application it may well be worth the wait till October.
I have tried List and Label Web Designer and found that installing additional application for all users is not a good idea. Will look for another solutions, may be FastReport.Net. That online designer is realy online and can work not only on Windows.
I need to automate opening and closing of an application, be able to manipulate and verify component functionality within the app, and be able to modify configuration data in the iOS Settings. I think I already know the answer to this one, but is there any testing tool that can handle these requirements? Is Squish and its ilk capable of doing this on an Android OS?
Squish is now capable of automating opening and closing of applications on iOS as well as Android. I don't know if that was the case back in 2013 when you asked this, but I am going through all unanswered Squish questions now.
I have created sample bb10 webworks app which shows charts(pie, line, bar, etc.). I have used highcharts library for the same. Sample charts get displayed on bb10 device but some time graphs not rendered properly. Sometimes graphs are empty.
In highcharts documentation, they did not mentioned compatibility for Blackberry 10. So I need to know that "does it fully supports on BB10?".
Any help would be appreciated.
Full compatibility is available here: http://www.highcharts.com/documentation/compatibility
Is there a "BlackBerry UI" CSS/JS framework available for Blackberry - Similar to IUI for the iPhone?
Hosted over on Google Code http://code.google.com/p/iui/ there is a great open source library for providing a "standard" iPhone UI for web applications.
i.e. a JavaScript and CSS library to provide:
BlackBerry look and feel
Data Binding
Curved corners etc.
DOM utilities
Handle idiosyncrasies between browser versions
Considering the fact UI changes across blackberry hardware, I guess it's difficult to create the equivalent of what is found on iOS.
I'm referring you to this forum thread you already saw for sure: Is there a "BlackBerry UI" CSS/JS framework for BB's - Similar to IUI for the iPhone
In term of compatibility and usability, I guess slightly altering a jQuery Mobile's theme would be your best option if you want to find one that is open source (unlike Sencha for example).
BB OS 6 contains a modern Webkit browser so it's easier to use standard toolkits such as Sencha.
Besides using Jquery Mobile or Sencha, you could give a try to this (official it seems) library https://github.com/blackberry/bbUI.js
I would recommend against using jQuery Mobile on a BlackBerry app.
It's slow (especially on older/less powerful devices), bloated (lots of stuff you probably won't ever need), the UI doesn't align with BlackBerry guidelines whatsoever and it doesn't play well with focus-based navigation (which is important as some current devices still don't have a touch screen and some users prefer to navigate with the trackpad).
bbUI.js (https://github.com/tneil/bbUI.js) as mentioned by Max is an official library originally developed by someone at RIM and, while it's not without its flaws and limitations, after months of working on a large WebWorks project it is still the best choice I've found to get up and running quickly.
Alas, the OS 6 browser crashes at the mere hint of javascript load (most usually the case), slightly less from having too many tabs open (by "too many", the amouny ranges between two on the lower spec models like 9300 to 4 or 5 on the 9780). This is from my experiences. Perhaps my settings are wrong - I tend to like smaller text, Arial and set the encoding to UTF-8.
However, I have never had Opera crash on the same phones - despite having at least 5 to 10 tabs open and in the background.
