Is there any way to add a simulator manually in my eclipse? In android SDK,we have options for selecting various emulators.Likewise,is there any way so that I can choose any one from the various simulators available?
Yeah, it can do it. Download simulators from RIM's Software Download for Device Simulators page and you can see how to add them from the support forum thread: how to add another simulator to eclipse
As Ajmal said when you install a simulator it will be added to your simulator list in Eclipse. Select a simulator from "Device" dropdown menu within run configurations as shown in screenshot. The sim package number will correspond to a simulator you installed.

How to choose iPhone model to debug a Flutter application using VSCode? Currently every time I debug an app, iPhoneX always starts, but I would like to choose another model, for example iPhone 8, how do I do this?
What I did was change the selected iOS device in the simulator, closing the simulator, then restarted my debugging session. The flutter app was then loaded on to the newly selected device.
I am using a Macbook Pro. So if you [right-click or two-button-click] the Simulator app -> select 'Device' -> select the iOS you want -> then select the desired device
The Dart VS Code extention documentation here mentions a few ways to change the device that's used.
Clicking on the currently selected device in the status bar
Executing the Flutter: Select Device command
Pressing your custom key binding for the Flutter: Select Device command
// 2022
Easy way to do this is start the simulator and from MacOS dock, right click on the simlator - > Device -> ios -> choose new simlator
Unfortunately it's not currently possible to change which iOS device is launched in the simulator from VS Code (or the flutter emulator command, which uses the same code).
It seems like a neat idea though - I'd encourage raising an issue in the flutter/flutter repo (VS Code delegates listing and launching emulators to the Flutter tool - this allows more code to be shared across editors). Please include some info on your use cases (for example why you usually want iPhone 8 instead of X) to ensure they're considered (for example one way to avoid having a huge list of devices would be to include one iPhone, one iPad, etc. - but this might not cover your requirements).
Also - FWIW, for me the similator always loads the device that was last used.. I selected iPhone 8 and quit, then next time I launched it (from VS Code) it was still iPhone 8. Do you not see this behaviour?
Extension to Danny's Answer:
Just start an iOS Simulator from XCode and then you'll be able to see that specific simulator's name in the list of options (when you'll try to choose the target device).
What worked for me was running flutter doctor in the terminal. it gave me the following output:
[!] Xcode - develop for iOS and macOS
✗ Xcode installation is incomplete; a full installation is necessary for iOS development.
Download at: https://developer.apple.com/xcode/download/
Or install Xcode via the App Store.
Once installed, run:
sudo xcode-select --switch /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer
sudo xcodebuild -runFirstLaunch
Xcode was installed previously, but after running the two commands, I was finally able to use the iOS Simulator in visual studio code.
I know that I repeat this topic but I didn't find the solution. I don't have developer account, I just want to run the iOS simulator with my project. All the uptdates are instaled including iOS simulatores, Compiler for C/C++/Obj-C is set as Default compiler(Apple LLVM 6.1). Also I can't choose any device on the left side of "set the active scheme", there's only iOS Device. I have tried to change the versions of XCode and iOS to earlier and nothing happened. I found
I will be very gratefull for help!
In the Xcode options select Window>Devices and see if the simulators are created. If not, you would need to create simulators depending on which one you need.
I updated my Xcode to 6.0.1 from the App Store update notification
in the morning in the os X 10.9.5, and then restarted my mac.
Then i found the Xcode has been updated to the 6.0.1 ,But when i tried
to run my app on it i am getting only iOS device as the device, not
simulators.
in my simulator menu manage devices there is no simulators only my
mac is present ,then i tried to add simulators but it has given me
error of path is not found,i tried every solutions found in the web
search like locations tab command line tools, everything is fine,
But still i am not getting the simulators? Can anybody help me on this?
Might be that resolve by tap Xcode6--> Window--> Device like following image:
When you select Device Option you get following window open:
There is appear all simulator or connected devices. If you found No simulator you can add by click on + Button then you get following window create simulator.
click an option there is simulator list and you get simulator. Hope that solve you issue.
Choose Preview > iOS Simulator Version > iOS 6.0 or 6.1.*
Choose Preview > Preview in iOS Simulator.
If you don't see iOS 6.0 or iOS 6.1, see Downloading and Installing Xcode Components in the iOS Developer Library.
What is the output of 'xcrun simctl list'?
Is there anything interesting in ~/Library/Logs/CoreSimulator/CoreSimulator.log to indicate a problem?
Are you able to add and delete simulator devices from the device manager?
Can you add and delete devices from the command line 'xcrun simctl create ...'?
The one thing I can suggest is checking xcode-select from a Terminal. Type xcode-select -p and look at the output. This should be the Contents/Developer directory within your Xcode application. On my machine - because I don't leave Xcode in the Application folder, it reads /Applications/Developer/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/. Make sure it's actually pointing at where Xcode is installed. For example you may be putting Xcode in a directory other than the usual /Applications, while xcode-select is looking for the Xcode internals in a different place than where Xcode is. I've been caught out by this before now.
Follow these steps to add a (new) simulator
Click on Simulator icon and open simulator list.
At the end of list, there is an option to add new simulator "Add Additional Simulator". That will open 'Device & Simulator' window.
Switch to 'Simulator' tab.
There are three field in simulator tab.
Click on '+' icon, on left bottom corner of window.
Simulator Name: Enter simulator name here
Device Type: Select iPad from this dropdown list
OS Version: Select OS version from this dropdown list
Click on 'Create'
A new simulator will be added in your Simulator option list.
Look at this snapshot to understand flow of above steps:
And if there is no simulator/OS version in simulator list, you're looking for,
Click on Simulator icon and open simulator list.
At the end of list, there is an option to add new simulator "Download Simulator". That will open 'Component' window (from Xcode >> Preferences).
Select/click simulator from list, which you need to download.

Xcode 5 is behaving just fine, and I'm able to build and run apps on my iOS 7 device and in the iOS 7 simulator.
However, I do want to support iOS 6.1, but I don't see any way to build and run the apps for an iOS 6 simulator.
Things wot I've done:
Set Deployment Target to 6.1 for both Project and Target
Downloaded iOS 6 Simulator
Copied the iOS 6 SDK into Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/
Reset Content and Settings for the simulator
Originally, I was trying to see the app in the iOS 6 simulator by switching from iOS 7 to iOS 6 in the Hardware > Device menu in the iOS Simulator application, but there aren't any apps in the iOS 6 simulator.
I'm gathering from answers like this one that there should be something I can select before I click Build/Run.
I'd love to be able to see my apps in both iOS 6 and 7 simulators. Any ideas what I'm missing? Here's a LINK to what I see when I click on the simulator dropdown.
Turns out the solution was changing the deployment target for the project from iOS 6.1 to iOS 6.0, upon which the simulator scheme selection immediately showed the option to choose iOS 6 or 7 simulators. Basically the deployment target should match a simulator version that you have installed.
Thanks to random commenters in questions like this one who mentioned that that worked for them.
All you have to do is go to Xcode -> Preferences -> Choose the "Downloads" tab and install the iOS 6.0 Simulator.
Once you're done downloading it, it should show up as an option in your schemes.
Just a little caveat....I tried what you said but it didn't work for me...
Changed Deployment Target on "Project" from 7.1 to 6.0
Then I realised that Deployment Target was still set to 7.1 on the "Target" - once I changed that it worked!
Click to target or project > Build Settings > Achitecture > Supported Plateforms : change to iOS
What I did to get mine working was click on the scheme to the left of where the Simulators usually appear in the dropdown, then choose edit scheme.
A new window will display, make sure that Run is highlighted on the left and then click on the Info tab. Choose the .app file for Executable.
If you are still looking for a solution here's what worked for me:
From the xcode beta's pull down menus, Xcode > Open Developer Tool >
iOS Simulator (if you get a pop up error just dismiss it)
Once in the Simulator go to Hardware > Device > Manage Devices.
Delete everything listed under simulator.
Reboot your machine.
After that navigate back to Manage Devices in the simulator and click the plus to add back
your simulators. Then the iOS 8 simulators will show up.
This might help u out better..you have to copy paste iPhoneOS6.1sdk folder. This is for SDK, similarly instead of iPhoneOS.platform select iPhoneSimulator.platform and then the same path.
Please check whether your "Deployment Target" is higher than the ones available on your simulators.
Xcode5 neither has 6.0 SDK or 6.0 simulator. But what you can do is u can copy both 6.0SDK and 6.0 simulator from your previous Xcodes (xcode4.5 for 6.0 and XCode4.6 for ios6.1) You can find the simulator at /applications/xcode.app/contents/developer/platforms/iphonesimulator.platform/developer/applications/iphone simulator.app
And SDK at /applications/xcode.app/contents/developer/platforms/iphoneos.platform/devicesupport/6.0
Copy the entire folders for simulator and SDK in the exact same path of XCode5.
Note: to go the the Contents of Xcode.app just do a right click on the .app file and you will get an option"Show Contents".
Once u are done copy pasting, restart ur XCode5 and u can see 6.0/6.1 simulator as an option :)
Click on your project root.
Then Go to the Build settings.
Then set iOS deployment target 5.0
Then select iphone6 on top left of your project.

Solved restoring an older version of the xcodeproj file.
I am using XCode 3.2.5, and I want to run my apps on iPad(Retina) simulator, how can I do this.
You need to install 4.3.1. It's in the Mac App Store. From the simulator, use the hardware menu and select what you want.
UPDATE: 4.3.1 with iOS SDK 5.1 it appears
I guess this functionality would only available in xcode 4.3.1 ..
There is a way to install the iOS 5.1 SDK to xcode 4.2, which works with Snow Leopard, and you can also include iOS 5.1 for the simulator.
Here are the steps on how to do it:
http://www.iphonedevsdk.com/forum/iphone-sdk-development/100229-snow-leopard-sdk-5-1-a.html
It is working on my application currently in development but I haven't subitted it to the app store yet.
