I am new in blackberry. I want the name of the application on focus. That is, for a particular application, if it is focused in downloads folder then name of that application should be displayed. Is it possible in Blackberry?
Please share it.
Thank you.
In your project you will find a file called BlackBerry_App_Descriptor.xml
If you open that file in eclipse you will see it allows you to set 2 icons and tick one as rollover (in focus).
You could simply design the rollover icon so that it incorporates your applications name. Or maybe logo/initials as it's not very big.
I'm guessing you mean when your application icon is in focus, if you mean other peoples applications then the answer is no (or more specifically what Richard said).
This would only be possable if the application in question either provided an API for other applications to get this data, through a listener interface for example; or if it issued a global event.

I am just starting out learning iOS development as a hobby in my spare time - so please be patient if this question seems dumb.
But how do I edit the UI without using the xcode graphical user interface? Is there some like underlying XML definition like Android has in android studio?
The reason I ask is if I ever need to change 1 dimension, it means I would have to manually go to every single storyboard element, and change it by hand as opposed to editing them efficiently from some main config file like dimens.xml
If you select your storyboard in Xcode, right click, and choose Open As -> Source Code, you will see the XML.
It's not simple to work with in that form (in my opinion), but it's available.
I have a Delphi project called VR that produces an executable named VR.exe. To my dismay I discovered Windows (I am running Window 7 64 bit Ultimate) has added links to the start menu and under games: Search & Rescue: Vietnam MED+EVAC. The icons for the links are the default delphi app icon.
Did a bit of research and I found this post:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/a5919fc1-db3d-4f13-b241-d059df2bf11f/renaming-a-file-into-vrexe
How can I prevent windows from doing this?
Update: I have another project MM, which produces mm.exe. This one created a link to the Steam Dark Messiah Might and Magic Single Player.
Another update: We submitted a support request to Microsoft. They acknowledged it is a bug, however, they failed to provide a timeline for a fix.
Update: This is the answer from Microsoft:
I am writing to inform you that this issue is reproducible at our end and we have been reported regarding this in past as well. Since this is already identified as “By design” with our code and to this point we do not have a resolution on this, there’s not much I would be able to help with.
However, if you have any points that you would like to bring to our knowledge like how it is impacting business or any other concerns , do let me know.
I accepted Remy's answer.
According to MSDN, game apps are supposed to integrate themselves into Game Explorer, Windows should not be integrating anything automatically. But I can confirm on a Win7 Home system that renaming any app to vr.exe and then running it causes Search & Rescue: Vietnam MED+EVAC to appear in Games Explorer (there was also a very noticeable delay when the app is run for the first time, which I imagine is due to the recognition/integraton taking place).
After running the app, I found the following Registry key associated with that game:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameUX\S-1-5-21-991038988-4040401710-2535580036-1000\{2A051900-E642-4D69-8D4E-1B3A2FD42CCF}
It contains a reference to this file
C:\Windows\system32\GameUXLegacyGDFs.dll
I looked at the file contents with a resource viewer, and see it is full of RC_DATA resources containing GDF game definitions.
I deleted the Registry key, and now the game no longer appears in Games Explorer, no matter how many times I run the renamed vr.exe file.
I am confused within the new Omniture Interface for a small thing. I am trying to Generate SiteCatalyst JavaScript Code for my site.
Here is what I did.
Created Report Suites from Report Suite Manager.
and got confused how to generate code for my site.
See the old interface made it very clear to create code for my site by selecting a Report Suite as explained here.
But how to generate code by selecting a Report Suite in the new interface?
Thanks.
I don't know where the code generation is or if it even exists any longer. Have you considered using the tag manager?
It's in the Admin home under "Tag Management". You can download the site snippet from there. You will see all the code in your container at that point. You have to set variables a little differently when you use the tag manager at that point but there is plenty of documentation around it.
Code Manager
Code manager lets you download data collection code for web and mobile platforms.
Admin tools > Code Manager.
After you download the library, you must configure the code to send data to the correct tracking server and report suite.
Tag Manager
TagManager is the standard method for deployment of Adobe Marketing Cloud tags.Tag Manager 2.0 is the latest one available.
TagManager lets you:
Deploy Marketing Cloud products and Genesis integrations though a single hosted JavaScript file.
Manage tags and configuration in a secure administrative interface.
Test changes and quickly roll back to previous versions.
Use existing SiteCatalyst tags to implement TagManager without a complex deployment process.
Deploy third-party tags.
Dynamic Tag Manager
Adobe acquire Satellite and it is now DTM.It is the future of implementation.
Visit the link DTM
The old Code Manager is still there, just a bit hidden. If you go into the interface for Code Manager, just under that table is this text. It brings you to the old Code Manager:
To view the legacy code manager or download AppMeasurement libraries for BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7, or Symbian click here.
In future the world is expected to go with Tag Management and when you have time it is recommended that you implement that.
Thanks C.
I am using BlackBerry SDK 5.0.0.36 on eclipse
whenever i am doing any changes i need to restart the simulator
i want to run simulator only once and dont wanna restart it again n again for little changes
i refer to this thread in stackoverflow.com -> "View changes without restarting Blackberry simulator?"
i follow the given procedure in above thread but still my simulator not making it
i also tried it in BlackBerry SDK 6.0 and 7.1 . . .but i am still fighting with same problem
As Mister Smith says, this functionality is not highly reliable. Sometimes it works, and sometimes not.
However, one fixable problem that I encounter somewhat often is that permissions on the JDE plugin folders get restricted so that the BlackBerry simulator cannot write out the proper files to perform hot swapping.
I can often fix this in Windows explorer by going to the root folder for Eclipse (you could probably just go to the JDE plugin folder, if you're concerned about opening up permissions too much). In Windows Explorer, right-click and select Properties. I then uncheck the Read-only checkbox. Then, use the Security tab and make sure that your user account has Full control for that directory, and all of its subdirectories.
I will usually also just transfer ownership of the entire Eclipse directory tree to my user account (e.g. HOSTNAME\username). Do that with the Advanced button on the Security tab.
Also, have a look at this question/answer and this BlackBerry support forum thread on the topic of hot swap file permissions
Every application seems to start with me taking a similar app, thowing out the "meat" of it and using the skeleton for my new project.
I don't always get all that I want from a previous project, nor do I need everything from it, but certain things keep cropping up again and again:
about box (with contact email being generated from the app name & version number direct from the project options)
splash screen (source & duration)
only allow single copy to run
prevent task switching
acccept dropped files?
minimaize to tray
hide from task manager
recent files list
that sort of thing.
I used too have such a skeleton for C++ Builder, years ago. It just read an .INI file and customized the app's behaviour accordingly.
Before I take the trouble to port it to Delphi, does anyone know of anything similar which is freely available?
You can simply create your skeleton project and add it to the repository (IDE menu Project\Add to Repository).
If you want to be able to dynamically create different projects based on some parameters (user input) you can also write a wizard using the OpenTools API.
