Accessing the Row of a UISwitch in a UITableView - ipad

I Used Code Similar to This to add switches to the rows of my TableView.
Once the switch is changed it calls switchChanged. But How do I access what row (which switch) was actually changed?
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
switch( [indexPath row] ) {
case MY_SWITCH_CELL: {
UITableViewCell* aCell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:#"SwitchCell"];
if( aCell == nil ) {
aCell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier:#"SwitchCell"] autorelease];
aCell.textLabel.text = #"I Have A Switch";
aCell.selectionStyle = UITableViewCellSelectionStyleNone;
UISwitch *switchView = [[UISwitch alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero];
aCell.accessoryView = switchView;
[switchView setOn:NO animated:NO];
[switchView addTarget:self action:#selector(switchChanged:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventValueChanged];
[switchView release];
}
return aCell;
}
break;
}
return nil;
}
- (void) switchChanged:(id)sender {
UISwitch* switchControl = sender;
NSLog( #"The switch is %#" switchControl.on ? #"ON" : #"OFF );
}

The UITableViewCell object that you are adding the switch to will be switchControl.superview so
UITableViewCell * cell = (UITableViewCell *)switchControl.superview;
NSIndexPath * indexPath = [self.tableView indexPathForCell:cell];

checkBox action event in uitableviewcell

I am having custom-cell in which i put the UIButton as the CheckBox.
I want the array of selected checkBox indexPath in ViewController.
I am trying to set the UIButton Action event into the ViewController but it is not accessible. Here is my Code,
-(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView1 cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
CustomTableViewCellSaveSearchTableViewCell *cell = [tableView1 dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:#"SaveSearchCell"];
if(!cell)
{
cell = [[[NSBundle mainBundle]loadNibNamed:#"CustomTableViewCellSaveSearchTableViewCell" owner:self options:nil]objectAtIndex:0];
}
[self setText:cell];
[cell.btnDelete addTarget:self action:#selector(btnClick:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
cell.btnDelete.tag = indexPath.row;
return cell;
}
-(void)btnClick : (UIButton *)btn
{
// I Can't accaes this method.
}
How can i get this.
UITableViewCells have a state of their own to reflect if they are selected or not. You don't need a button in the cells (it is discouraged for UX reasons anyway). Check here for a tutorial.
Do according to these three floowing method.
- (void)viewDidLoad {
[super viewDidLoad];
chekMarkArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc]init];
int totalData = 10;
chekMarkArray=[[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:totalData];
for (int i=0; i<totalData; i++) {
[chekMarkArray addObject:#(0)];
}
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"cell";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
UIButton *testButton;
if (cell == nil ||1) {
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
testButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect];
testButton.frame = CGRectMake(100, 5,25, 25);
testButton.tag = indexPath.row;
BOOL selectindex = [[chekMarkArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] boolValue];
if (!selectindex) {
testButton.backgroundColor = [UIColor greenColor];
}else{
testButton.backgroundColor = [UIColor redColor];
}
[testButton addTarget:self action:#selector(DropDownPressed:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchDown];
[cell addSubview:testButton];
}
return cell;
}
checked button action
-(void)btnClick : (UIButton *)btn
{
UIButton *button = (UIButton*)sender;
BOOL currentStatus = [[chekMarkArray objectAtIndex:button.tag] boolValue];
//deselect all selection
for (int i=0;i<chekMarkArray.count;i++) {
[chekMarkArray replaceObjectAtIndex:i withObject:#(0)];//comment this line for multiple selected button
}
//select current button
[chekMarkArray replaceObjectAtIndex:button.tag withObject:#(!currentStatus)];
[self.tableView reloadData];
}
You may use this code instead of button
first Alloc NsmutableArray in ViewDidLoad
and put an Button outside Tableview to complete your action.
then add
-(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
if(cell.accessoryType == UITableViewCellAccessoryNone) {
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
[selectedRowsArray addObject:[arrShareTickets objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]];
}
else {
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
[selectedRowsArray removeObject:indexPath];
}
[tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES];
}

Fetching the checkmarked cell's label

I am working with the table view. I added the checkmark Accessory on the first tap of the screen and removed this checkmark on the second tap. I added few ckeckmarks on the cells of table view. Now i want that the labels of the cells having the checkmarks should be displayed on the NSlog.
please help me out regarding this issue. Any help will be much appriciable.

Don't use the UITableView to store your data. Cells are reused, so that's not a reliable way to detect which items you have selected.
You could store whether an item is selected in an array, for instance. Then in your cellForRowAtIndexPath determine if the checkmark should be displayed. In didSelectRowAtIndexPath you update the model (your array) and request a reload for the specific cell.
This will result in a better MVC separation.
EDIT: added example for the UITableView stuff
// for this example we'll be storing NSIndexPath objects in our Model
// you might want to use a #property for this
NSMutableSet *model = [NSMutableSet set];
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
...
if([model containsObject:indexPath]) {
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
}
else {
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
}
...
}
-(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
...
// update the model
if([model containsObject:indexPath]) {
[model removeObject:indexPath];
}
else {
[model addObject:indexPath];
}
// request reload of selected cell
[tableView reloadRowsAtIndexPaths:#[indexPath] withRowAnimation: UITableViewRowAnimationFade];
...
}
Now it should be fairly easy to log all selected items, without having to use the UITableView: it's all in your model now!
Make a for loop:
NSMutableArray *mutArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init];
for(i = 0;i <= self.rowCount-1;i++)
{
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:[NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:i inSection:0]];
if (cell.accessoryType == UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark)
{
[mutArray addObject:[NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:i inSection:0]];
}
}
NSLog(#"Array: %#", mutArray);

Try this :)
You can get all selected indexPaths from below method.
NSArray *selectedIndexPaths = [self.Yourtableview indexPathsForSelectedRows];
after getting this selected index array. You can get title of cell using indexPath.row property.
You also can store selected objects (objects from where you show data in table) in additional array.
Just add/remove data-object to array in didSelectRow method and you will have table state data in any time later.
I don't recommend you to use the checkmark approach to find out the selected cells
Try this:
Create a NSMutableArray named 'selectedCells' (or something else). It can either be a property or an instance variable.
Instantiate it in -viewDidLoad method.
In bottom your -tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath method add this code.
if([selectedCells containsObject:#(indexPath.row)]){
cell.accessoryType=UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
}else{
cell.accessoryType=UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
}
In your -tableView:didSelectRowForIndexPath: method call:
if([selectedCells containsObject:#(indexPath.row)]){
[selectedCells removeObject:#(indexPath.row)];
}else{
[selectedCells addObject:#(indexPath.row)];
}
Using this way you always have the info for the selected cell (or cells having checkmarks) in 'selectedCells'

Uncheck row automatically when table scrolled

thanks in advance.
when ever you scroll the table
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
method executes and you have not mentioned any condition by which it can be judged that this row was previously selected or not. you have to insert a condition along with indexPath.row and check whether it is prviously selected or not
try like this ,when you scroll the tableview every time isSelectAllBtnClicked value is 0 that's why every time button changed.
when you scroll the table every time new cell created try to avoid that one
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
NSString *CellIdentifier = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%d",indexPath.row];
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {

How to add images to UITableView cell?

I temporarly added some values to the UITableViewCell programmatically. But I need to add images to each cell. How can I do that?
Here is my code. .h file
#interface BidalertsViewController : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate,UITableViewDataSource> {
NSArray *listData;
}
#property(nonatomic, retain) NSArray *listData;
#end
.m file
#synthesize listData;
- (void)viewDidLoad {
UIView *newView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(5,0,310,28)];
newView.backgroundColor=[UIColor whiteColor];
UITextView *mytext = [[UITextView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 100.0, 25.0)];
mytext.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
mytext.textColor = [UIColor blackColor];
mytext.editable = NO;
mytext.font = [UIFont systemFontOfSize:15];
mytext.text = #"Asset Name";
[mytext release];
[newView addSubview:mytext];
[self.view addSubview:newView];
[newView release];
NSArray *array = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:#"iPhone", #"iPod", #"iPad",nil];
self.listData = array;
[array release];
[super viewDidLoad];
}
- (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning {
[super didReceiveMemoryWarning];
}
- (void)dealloc {
[listData dealloc];
[super dealloc];
}
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section
{
return [self.listData count];
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
static NSString *SimpleTableIdentifier = #"SimpleTableIdentifier";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier: SimpleTableIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc]
initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:SimpleTableIdentifier] autorelease];
}
NSUInteger row = [indexPath row];
cell.textLabel.text = [listData objectAtIndex:row];
return cell;
UIImageView *imv = [[UIImageView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(3,2, 20, 25)];
imv.image=[UIImage imageNamed:#"user.jpg"];
[cell.contentView addSubview:imv];
[imv release];
}
#end
The code didn't add images to the cell. What's the problem? How can I do to add custom image to cell?
Move return cell; at the end of the method:
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
static NSString *SimpleTableIdentifier = #"SimpleTableIdentifier";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier: SimpleTableIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc]
initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:SimpleTableIdentifier] autorelease];
}
NSUInteger row = [indexPath row];
cell.textLabel.text = [listData objectAtIndex:row];
UIImageView *imv = [[UIImageView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(3,2, 20, 25)];
imv.image=[UIImage imageNamed:#"user.jpg"];
[cell.contentView addSubview:imv];
[imv release];
return cell;
}
You can add images using the imageView property of a cell:
cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"user.jpg"];
in your - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath method.
Here's an example cell loading a facebook image in a table cell.
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil)
{
cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle
reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease];
cell.selectionStyle = UITableViewCellSelectionStyleNone;
}
// Leave cells empty if there's no data yet
if (nodeCount > 0)
{
// Set up the cell...
AppRecord *appRecord = [self.friendsList objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
cell.textLabel.text = friend.name;
// Only load cached images; defer new downloads until scrolling ends
if (!appRecord.icon)
{
// set the url
appRecord.imageURLString = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"http://graph.facebook.com/%#/picture", friend.recordID];
// request the download
if (self.tableView.dragging == NO && self.tableView.decelerating == NO)
{
[self startIconDownload:appRecord forIndexPath:indexPath];
}
// if a download is deferred or in progress, return a placeholder image
cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"Placeholder.png"];
}
else
{
cell.imageView.image = appRecord.icon;
}
}
return cell;
you adding it right, but you fogot one thing:
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
static NSString *SimpleTableIdentifier = #"SimpleTableIdentifier";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier: SimpleTableIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc]
initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:SimpleTableIdentifier] autorelease];
}
NSUInteger row = [indexPath row]; cell.textLabel.text = [listData objectAtIndex:row];
UIImageView *imv = [[UIImageView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(3,2, 20, 25)];
imv.image=[UIImage imageNamed:#"user.jpg"];
[cell.contentView addSubview:imv];
[imv release];
//you fogot this:
return cell;
}
// create a rectangle box for image view
UIImageView *iconImage = [[UIImageView alloc] init];
iconImage.frame = CGRectMake(12,4,53.5,53.5);
// Create a label for cells
UILabel *cellName = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(75,18,200,20)];
cellName.font = [self fontForBodyTextStyle];
NSString *cellNameStr = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%#",self.tableCellNames[indexPath.row]];
// Select path row tab actions
switch (indexPath.row) {
case 0:
cellName.text = cellNameStr;
iconImage.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"condition.png"];
[cell.contentView addSubview:iconImage];
[cell.contentView addSubview:cellName];
break;
case 1:
cellName.text = cellNameStr;
iconImage.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"videos.png"];
[cell.contentView addSubview:iconImage];
[cell.contentView addSubview:cellName];
break;
case 2:
cellName.text = cellNameStr;
iconImage.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"provider.png"];
[cell.contentView addSubview:iconImage];
[cell.contentView addSubview:cellName];
break;
case 3:
cellName.text = cellNameStr;
iconImage.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"info.png"];
[cell.contentView addSubview:iconImage];
[cell.contentView addSubview:cellName];
break;
default:
NSAssert(NO, #"Unhandled value in cellForRowAtIndexPath");
break;
}
