[Error]: Please update your Heroku client to the most recent version - ruby-on-rails

I am trying to run this command:
$heroku logs
I am receiving following error:
[Error]: Please update your Heroku client to the most recent version
Can someone please help me solve the issue?
Thanks!

You simply have an old version of the heroku gem. Just install the latest from your command line:
gem install heroku --version 2.3.3

If you just want to update the heroku command-line client, you can type
heroku update
at the heroku command line.

Please uninstall your old Heroku version and install latest.
gem install heroku --version 3.30.3

Install specific version of Bonsai Elasticsearch in Heroku

Is it possible to install a specific version of Bonsai Elasticsearch in Heroku ?
I'm trying to follow the documentation with this command line => heroku addons:create bonsai:[plan] [-a APP_NAME] [--version=X.Y] with this link https://docs.bonsai.io/article/194-heroku
I want to install 6.5.4 version. The command always install me latest version of ES which is 7.2.0
Anyone has same issue ? How can I fix this ?
Thx by advance !
You are going on right path.
You can do
heroku addons:create bonsai --version=6.5.4
for installing 6.5.4 version as per this documentation. Reference: https://docs.bonsai.io/article/194-heroku
What error you are facing after running this command?
I have done it. But when I launch the command with --version=6.5.4 is not taking into account. 7.2.0 version is always install..
No error is report

ruby on rails heroku gem runtime error installing

This is the error:
I am getting an error while installing Heroku gem please help me.
What Should I Do?
Please follow the official installation guide here.
You are installing ruby gem but what you need is heroku-cli which will help you run commands like, heroku create, heroku push, etc.
Actually It Worked , I Installed Heroku And Gone In Master Folder And It Worked Perfectly

Heroku CLI throws an error whenever I try to do anything: "Please specify a version along with Heroku's API MIME type"

As of this morning, without having change anything in my Heroku CLI setup, I received the following error when I tried to run:
heroku logs -t -app <app_name>
! Please specify a version along with Heroku's API MIME type. For example, Accept: application/vnd.heroku+json; version=3.
I have since tried updating both heroku and heroku-toolbelt via brew upgrade heroku and brew upgrade heroku-toolbelt, but this did not solve the issue.
I get this error essentially whenever I try to do anything with heroku CLI, including heroku logs, heroku apps, heroku login, and heroku auth:login.
I am running MacOS, and the error posted is the only information that I am getting back from Heroku.
This discussion here: How can I specify heroku's MIME type? pertains to upgrading Heroku in Ubuntu and does not solve my issue.
I had the same problem -- but installing the new Toolbelt did not work at first. There was one other step I needed to do.
from: https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/heroku-cli
It has instructions for each platform on installing the new cli -- and says you need to run: which heroku in order to verify the proper version is running. In my case I also needed to do a gem uninstall heroku in order to get everything working, as it was running the gem binary instead of the newly installed heroku-cli binary.
If you were using heroko Plugin for intellij
I tried alot to make it work !
From here official response
#emzeidan thanks for the report. This plugin is deprecated, and uses an old version of the Heroku API that has been shut down. Please recommend to your users that they use one of the alternative deployment mechanisms described in our DevCenter article on WAR deployment. If you can remove from the plugin from any Bamboo marketplace (or similar thing) that would be helpful too. Thanks.
This was on Sept-2017
I run the 'heroku --version' command and the toolbelt automatically updates the client. After that the login was ok.
I had the same problem on macOS Sierra 10.12.3 when I installed heroku via brew.
To get round it I ran brew uninstall heroku-toolbelt then installed via the Mac installer at https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/heroku-cli#macos and it works fine now.
Have you specified the heroku gem in your Gemfile? If yes, then remove it.
And then, install Heroku CLI for https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/getting-started-with-ruby#set-up and run your command.

Issues updating Heroku to a newer version on Cloud9 IDE

I've been having trouble trying to update to the latest version of Heroku on Cloud9 as you can see here:
~/workspace/hello_app (master): $ heroku version
heroku-toolbelt/3.31.3 (x86_64-linux) ruby/2.1.5
You have no installed plugins.
WARNING: Toolbelt v3.37.6 update available.
But when I try to update it, this is what I got:
~/workspace/hello_app (master):$ heroku update
! To update this version of the Heroku client please use
! `apt-get install heroku-toolbelt`
Then I tried typing in 'apt-get install heroku-toolbelt' into my terminal and this was the result:
~/workspace/hello_app (master): $ apt-get install heroku-toolbelt
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13: Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?
I have also tried to install Heroku Toolbelt using https://toolbelt.heroku.com/ , but I still seem to get the same warning that you see with the first code above telling me that I need to update it to v 3.37.6 . I'm sorry for this newbie mistake, but is there anyone out there that can help me resolve this little issue, please? Thanks.
You should use
sudo apt-get install heroku-toolbelt
In the new version of Cloud9 we don't have support for deployment from the UI yet unfortunately.
You can manually install various command-line tools into your workspace and deploy using the command line. It should go without saying that this is for developers that aren't afraid of the command line.
https://docs.c9.io/v1.0/docs/deploying-via-cli
I got the same problem and it got resolved by this..

Ruby error after installing heroku toolbelt

I am working with Heroku on a win 7 - 32 bit system where I don't have admin privileges.
I have downloaded and installed the heroku toolbelt following http://community.webfaction.com/questions/11803/heroku-toolbelt with
cd ~
curl http://assets.heroku.com/heroku-client/heroku-client.tgz | tar zx
export PATH=$HOME/heroku-client/bin/:$PATH
following Leo's advice ,I've added ruby to the windows path to fix this
Now when I run:
$ heroku run bash --app MYAPP
I get:
f:/heroku-client/lib/heroku/updater.rb:164:in `spawn': Exec format error - "m:/heroku-client/bin/heroku" update (Errno::ENOEXEC)
from f:/heroku-client/lib/heroku/updater.rb:164:in `background_update!'
from f:/heroku-client/lib/heroku/updater.rb:144:in `inject_libpath'
from f:/heroku-client/bin/heroku:19:in `<main>'
I have added to the windows env variable path:
F:/heroku-client/bin/;f:/heroku-client/lib/heroku/
How can I fix this?
I had the same issues initially with ROR on Windows. (Everyone suggested me to move to LINUX/UNIX)
Still I managed to install it on Windows. Rather than installing the Heroku Toolbet (which breaks ruby and rails which is already installed) install the heroku gem along with foreman gem.
gem install heroku
gem install foreman
Then u can use it easily.
Install the Windows Heroku Toolbelt. It's self-contained and should work out of the box for you.
