For my application I need to retrieve the number of followers of a list of Twitter accounts. It works fine so far; however I guess I'm limited to 150 calls per hour since I'm calling anonymously.
Here is, in pseudo code, the request I send:

Now, my question... :) Is there a way to send that kind of request for several users at once, for example [...]/show.xml?screen_name=user1,user2,user3,etc. (which doesn't work btw). I couldn't find a solution yet... maybe it is simply not allowed by the API...

Just realized you're doing this unauthenticated. You're going to need authentication for this call. I'd recommend an OAuth library but I'm not sure which language you're using.

You're getting two things confused.
There is GET blocks/list which allows you to receive a list of a blocked users.
On the other hand POST blocks/create allows you to block users from your twitter account. I believe that's the one you're wanting.
Either way they're both rate limited and you'll need to send multiple requests to the twitter API in order to reach whatever number you're looking into adding. As of now, until twitter decides to change it, it's only 1 user at a time.
I think I am mostly struggling with this problem because I do not know what to search for.

You should read up on NSURLConnection, you're going to have to execute a post request to login. Then you're going to have to determine whether or not you logged in successfully probably by parsing the returned page. NSURLConnection will handle storing the login cookie the site returns. After you've logged in you're probably going to need to execute another post request to query their system. Once again you will have to probably parse the result out of the HTML page that is returned.

This all of course assumes that this website doesn't have an API you can use.
Looks like you need to programatically POST in https to the server, then you will get back some DOM document, or JSON, or some weird thing, which you then parse.
POSTing with iOS is pretty easy, look at something like LRResty https://github.com/lukeredpath/LRResty or similar.
When you get the data back, first thing to do is look at it with NSLog. Then if the data is HTML, you will need to wade into the HTML to get the result.
The problem with that approach is that the company hosting the page may change their API at any time. You should ask them to either not ever change anything (if they want to change, then make a new page and leave the old one working, or better, support a simple REST API - which would also help them build nice AJAX/html5 web sites in the future.).
I'm working on a Google Calendar Gadget and need to load data for the user from a remote server. It's simple stuff, like favorite color, but I need the user's ID. Using makeRequest works in general, but I need to send the account name, or a hash of it, or any sort of identifier to my server so it gets the right data. What's the easiest way to get that info? Currently it asks the user via HTML form, every single time it loads, which is pretty lame.
I've been looking at OAuth stuff, trying examples, and nothing works... I got an OAuth client key but don't know how/where to use it (or if I do use it with a Gadget). I found the Calendar feed/scope URI but I'm not really sure if that's correct to just get a user identifier, maybe I should use accounts. Half the examples are for OAuth 1.0...it's really frustrating.
Does anyone know a way to do this, or a good example/tutorial that explains how, for a Gadget? I think Gadgets are different since they run on Google's servers...but don't really know how this makes them different in this context.

I have a couple outstanding questions mainly reguarding twitter and facebook
In the FacebookGraph class there are properties such as Id,name,etc. I am wondering how do I add to this list? Like what happens if I want a users hometown? I tried to add a property called hometown but it always is null.
What should I store their id(1418) or the whole url(http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1418) for lookup later in my db to grab their data and to see if they have an account with my site?
Is it actually good to use this id as it seems like it is common knowledge. Can't someone just find the profile id or whatever and do a fake request on my site?
how do you setup dotnetopenauth to deal with the case when a user goes to facebook and deletes access to my website. I know you can send a deauthorization code to your site and then delete their account but I don't know how to do that through dotnetopenauth

I'm no pro at Facebook. But the FacebookGraph class is in the ApplicationBlock, which ships as source and is fully intended for you to customize or extend within your own application. Hopefully people more familiar with Facebook in particular, or the Facebook docs, can help you with those questions.
Since Facebook is not OpenID, what you store whether ID # or the whole URL, is less critical. People should not be able to just craft requests to log in as others because your site should be verifying signatures, etc. If you're using DotNetOpenAuth appropriately this is probably being done automatically for you. But without seeing your code it can't be said for sure.
Assume the id is common knowledge. It certainly isn't a long random number so anyone can guess it. The ID must be accompanied by a signature that verifies that Facebook sent the ID, just now, for you.
I suspect the deauthorization code isn't going to be relevant to DotNetOpenAuth -- that's probably just some URL that you respond to. But again, I haven't read the FB docs on this.
Here's the real answer I can give you. Yes, OpenID works with AJAX reasonably well. You can see some samples of this at nerddinner.com or a sample of a blog post comment system. The most complete AJAX demonstration for standard login may be in the web forms or MVC project templates available on the Visual Studio Gallery.
I'm able to create an event via the Facebook Graph API but I have yet to see a way in which to invite users to that event.
My fallback is to simply use the old REST API but sooner or later that will be phased out so I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions.

While using the REST API (or possibly even the Graph API) I have not found a way to invite guests who are not on Facebook. Is there a way to do this?

The bad news is that I think you're stuck with the REST API, at least I couldn't find another way (see http://bugs.developers.facebook.net/show_bug.cgi?id=10070 if you haven't already). The good news is that there's still so much functionality missing from the graph API that I'm pretty sure Facebook isn't going to be phasing it out any time soon. Very frustrating though...
