Just wondering, I have created an application and ran it on an iPhone 3GS using Xcode 3.2.6. No problems there. Now, I'm trying to run the same application but on a 3G iPhone. I need to lower the base sdk to at least 4.1 however my only options are 4.3. I can manually enter a number within the info.plist however then I just get base sdk missing.
I have already tried changing the base sdk under the architecture pannel, as well as the ios deployment target.
how can i get base sdk to become 4.1 in xcode 3.2.6??
Thanks,
Anthony
Please set the "Base SDK" to "Latest iOS", i.e. iOS 4.3 at this time.
Please set the "iOS Deployment Target" to the minimum iOS version you like, such as iOS 3.1.
Please get more details in the Xcode readme PDF file.

My iPad2 device is running iOS 6.1. Since I upgraded XCode from 4.5->4.6 I get an error that my device is not running a new enough version of iOS!
I use no advanced features and in XCode my project iOS Deployment Target is 5.0.
Here are my settings:
Here are my provisioning stuff, it looks fine to me:
I am using Xcode 4.6 and see I have all deployable targets available. See screenshots. Though note the base SDK is set to iOS 6.1.
Apple always suggests building against the latest SDK and then setting the deployment target to whatever you want it to be. Also make sure any IB item has the correct deployment version set as well.
Just a helper for newer developers (like me):
I had problems testing my iPhone app on a new iPad and it was due to not running Organizer to initialising the new device (iPhone or iPad).
(You also have to select that the device is used for debugging)
It will update your new device with the necessary libraries and then deploying is simple.
You can run Organizer from the Xcode->Windows menu.
I recently upgraded to Xcode 4.5.1 to compile an app under development for the new iPad. That worked fine, but when I went back to run it on my old iPad under iOS 5.1 it wouldn't compile. I traced this back to the "Base SDK" setting in my project. Unfortunately, for some reason it's stuck on iOS 6.0, and iOS 5.0 SDK is not in the list:
The puzzling thing is that a the iOS 5.0 and 5.1 SDKs are available if I start a whole new project, but are just not an option in the list for this particular project. The other puzzling thing is that it also still runs on the iOS 5.0 simulator.
How to fix this without rebuilding the project from scratch?
Actually, under Xcode 4.5.x, the only allowed Base SDK is 6.0. You need to set your project's (and target's) Deployment Target to iOS 4.3 or later depending on what you wish to support in your app.
The Bask SDK defines what APIs you can use. The Deployment Target defines how far back you wish to support.
I want to change my iOS SDK. I have ios 5 and xcode 4.2 but I have to decrease it to iOS 4.2 SDK because of my application. In developer.apple.com the xcode 4.1 with iOS 5 so it is not available. How can I find xcode 4.1 with ios sdk 4.2 or how can I setup the ios sdk 4.2 without download xcode again. If it is not possible can you give me a linq for download xcode 4.1 with ios sdk 4.2
The base SDK should be the currently available one - it's the version of the SDK that you have installed to compile against.
However, further down the settings list you'll see that you can set the "Deployment Target" to be for lower versions iOS. That's the one that specifies the lower version of the OS that you app will run on.
Latest SDK included all required features from previous SDK versions. You shouldn't worry about it. If you want to support previous versions of iOS just set iOS Deployment Target to iOS 4.2 (or another would you like) in project settings at Build Settings tab.
As of today I can't compile my iOS Xcode project anymore. Immediately a message box pops up saying:
The run destination iPhone 4.3 Simulator is not valid for Running the scheme 'MyApp'.
The scheme 'MyApp' contains no buildables that can be built for the SDKs supported by the run destination iPhone 4.3 Simulator. Make sure your targets all specify SDKs that are supported by this version of Xcode.
I've already played around with various settings in Xcode but nothing helps.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
Thanks!
Just a wild guess, but did you have a look in your project settings under Base SDK? Does it say e.g. Latest iOS (iOS 4.3) ?
I just set up a new macbook pro, installed xcode and the latest iphone SDK; However, I have an iPhone app that needs to target the 2.0 SDK.
I have 2.2.1, 3.0, and 3.1 available in xcode, but for the life of me cannot figure out where to get 2.0. I have scoured the iPhone Dev Center without any luck.
The latest SDK allows you to target older versions.
You specify the SDK Xcode uses to build your application in your project’s Base SDK build setting, which you can set in:
Project > Edit Project Settings > Base SDK for all Configurations

Read this Apple page for more info.
I think it comes with the current X-Code but its only optional on installation. I could be wrong, I just installed X-Code last week and I think there were older SDKs available.
