I'm trying to center my date time on the screen using DateField in Blackberry. My code appears not to function as I expect it to. Can a kind soul divine what the problem might be:
setPositionChild(df,
(Display.getWidth()/2-(df.getContentWidth()/2)),
(Display.getHeight()-df.getContentHeight())/2);
If everything fails you can put this date field in a manager and allign it to center of the manager by both vertical and horizontal. After that you can add this field (manager) to the screen.

I was wondering if there is a way to set prompt text location in TextArea.
Basically I am trying to create the similar effect as ListView Placeholder does. It is just to keep consistency in UI, so that everything mostly would look similar.
Any suggestions with this.
I think you can only do this by a dirty hack:
Set alignment to center.
Depending on your desired behavior either add a focus listener which sets the alignment to left again when focused and back to center when focus left.
text.focusedProperty().addListener((p,o,n)->{
if(n){
text.setAlignment(Pos.CENTER_LEFT);
}else {
text.setAlignment(Pos.CENTER);
}
});
Or add a keylistener to get the left aligned text while typing(and a focus-left listener to reset it if needed, eg. empty)
setOnKeyPressed(e->text.setAlignment(Pos.CENTER_LEFT));
I want to display PDF within iOS application, so far the only way I find is open it in TwebBrowser.
A.It is displaying in "fit to page width" zoom as default
B.There is no "zoom" function
WebBrowser1.Navigate(file://mypdf.pdf')
How to
I want to change the zoom after open the file (My solution encounter q#2)
Make the zoom work (My solution encounter q#3)
Make the gesture as work just like web page
For #1:
I chagne WebBrowser1.height/width in run-time, it will auto scale(zoom?) as "Fit to width".
Yes it works, and vertical scroll bar works with a flaw - it will not bounce back on edge -> you can scroll all the way down..
Neither the horizontal scroll, not reacting at all....
*This is because the pdf is A4, not sure what will happen for a landscape style
For #2:
Beside using button clicks to zoom, I add a gestureManager.
Then add Form1.ongesture just like the "iOS Interactive Gestures - Image Zoom" example.
Yes it works, but same thing - no vertical bounce, no horizontal scroll.
*ScrollBox does not work, it will not work with any thing has a build-in vert/hori scroll bars
For #3
:
I go even further, write control for up/down/left/right
Change WebBrowser1.Position.X/Y and WebBrowser1.height/width to make it looks like "scrolling"
Yes it works... but two custom gesture controls are making it really hard to control
(EventInfo.Distance and EventInfo.X/Y, those 2 controls are kinda overlaping to eachother if you run in iPhone)
The wosrt part is, the WebBrowser1 will be on top of ANY compenment, regardless parent/child structure .
The second worst part is the limitation of margin is hard to code, somehow it can always scroll over the limit.....
I "feel" if changing the zoom on/after open, and make it open with both vert/hori scrool bars visible.
Then the horizontal bar should work -> i only need to deal with zoom -> pretty close to prefect.
Of course the best way is to make it work like a web page, like
WebBrowser1.Navigate('http://www.embarcadero.com/') -> both scrollbars works, zoom work.
but...maybe need service pack N for this?
I appreciate for any ideas or code answers.
This damned monkey is on fire and its always hard to find an answer from it.
An article was posted today on The Hacker's Corner called Getting TWebBrowser on iOS to zoom. It suggests a one-line fix to the FMX.WebBrowser.iOS.pas unit. Does this help?
It was a bug, and fixed in the XE4 update.
i have a listfield where i am adding the contents in a horizontal field manager first and then adding the manager to a vertical manager. Visually:
----Image ---Text ----Image
---Text ----Image
---Image
How can i achieve this using a horizontal field manager
You might want to clear up the question a bit, but I'll try to answer what I think you're asking. ListFields don't support (natively) drawing a Manager as its row -- or a Field for that matter. What you'll need to do is in your ListFieldCallback's drawListRow() method, emulate this by doing the painting the way you want it to look. It would end up being measurements with bitmap.getWidth() and font.getAdvance(text) to figure out where to draw the images and text, but it should be a simple enough process.
I'm looking for a way to insert emoticons/smileys/any bitmap in a text field (LabelField, EditField, whatever). From what I've researched so far, there is no direct way to do this, so I'm stuck with trying to simulate this behavior.
I was thinking of using a normal text field and instead of smileys to insert blank spaces and then place some BitmapFields over the text field where the smileys should be. The problem is that I have no reliable/quick way of finding a character's position on screen (x,y).
Can you give me some ideas?
Can you think of other approaches to this problem?
I'm sure a lot of people encountered this kind of problem at one time or another. I hope there is someone who managed to find a solution. I'm desperate enough to accept any solution, no matter how crazy/complex/difficult.
Also, I would like to use this in SDK 5.0 and up, but I will settle for only 6.0.
What you might be able to do is create a custom Manager that is a container for EditFields and BitmapFields. When the user clicks in the initial EditField that is inside of your Manager and begins typing, you let them type until they want an emoticon. When they select it you create a BitmapField right after the EditField and then place a new EditField to the right of the BitmapField. You'll have to keep track of things like when the user hits backspace and empties an EditField, it should be removed, and then they are selecting the BitmapField, and a subsequent backspace would delete the BitmapField and put focus on the previous EditField.
You will have to also create your own EditField that you can control the size of, and BitmapField that allows for backspace to delete it.
As far as I can think ahead, you shouldn't have any problem using this for 5.0
Edit for comments:
You'll have to be implementing your own sublayout() of your Manager in any approach you take, so you know positions because you're the one who put them there. If you want to want to do multi-line (my approach was for single-line), you can do one of three things:
1.) Just have new EditFields for each line and do the linking the same way I talked about where backspace drops you to the previous Field, in this case the last line. You have to keep measurements of how big the field is based off of the text, and see if that will move it to the next line. If it does just adjust where the EditFields are positioned.
2.) You can do your image placement in the multi-line field by implementing your own EditField that expands height, in which case you'll know where the text is and what lines you are on. Drawing the Bitmap would be a matter of calculating (what line number you are) * (font height) and getAdvance(text_up_to_bitmap).
3.) Implement your own EditField where you have a focusable Manager that you manually do all of the drawing. You can parse a String that you save from capturing key strokes and maybe have a flag where an emoticon should be. Draw the text before it, draw the emoticon, then continue drawing the text. The difficulty with this is you will have to do things like determining where the cursor should be, bringing up the virtual keyboard, and handling some of the other tasks that the EditField does for you.
I'm using a TVirtualStringTree as a grid which is working pretty well.
I'm using the treeviews hint functionality to show a hint when the user positions the mouse over a cell. I've had to change HintMode to hmHint as I want my hints to appear regardless of the cell text length.
What I'm trying to do now is to display a different hint depending on whereabouts the mouse is within the cell.
I can do this no problem before the hint is displayed by using the OnGetHint event. My problem is this event is only raised a next time when the user moves the mouse to another cell.
I can't see to find a way to update the hint while its displayed and the mouse is moved within the same cell
I've looked at suggestions for other controls, using the Application's OnShowHint event but they just seem to make the hint disappear and not show again.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Update
After some investigation here is what I have found in case it helps someone come up with a solution:
The CMHintShow method sets the CursoRect field of the HintInfo record to the bounds of the cell. This seems to stop the VCl from triggering the hint code again until the mouse moves out of this rect (TApplication.HintMouseMessage).
If i set the CursorRect to something smaller than the cell bounds the hint will update. I use VTs in a few places for different purposes, so I can't make these changes directly. Would be good to get a solution that doesn't require this change.
In TBaseVirtualTree.CMHintShow right near the top, the code reads:
if PtInRect(FLastHintRect, HintInfo.CursorPos) then
Exit;
If you comment this out then the behaviour is closer to what you are looking for. The hint window won't show again if you move the mouse within the same cell, but if you click then it will.
I can't seem to find any way to make the hint window show in the same cell without that mouse click though!
