Change logged in user - tfs

When I setup TFS for the first time, I usually use the TFSSetup account, and with this account going to login for the first time.
How to login as a different user?
How to check who the current user is?

Checkout a file in Source Control Explorer and user column it will show your username with which you are connected to TFS.
If you want to connect TFS using other credentials, then add the address of your TFS server and the credentials in Credentials Manager(Control Panel->User Accounts->Credential Manager). The next time you try to access TFS, these credentials will be used.

Clear the user's credentials in the Credential Manager. This will then bring back the Authentication Window when trying to connect to TFS.

Another approach you can take that worked for me, was to log into the web interface for TFS, then use that to log in as another user. So, navigate to:
http://yourtfshost:8080/collection/web/ (or whatever your web address is)..
Then, click on your name in the corner and select "sign in as a different user."
Essentially, this does the same thing as the above suggestions. It simply replaces your credentials in credential manager with the correct ones.

Error when attempting to upgrade access level of VSTS user

I have a team set up in VSTS and I am trying to upgrade certain team members who need access to the test suite functionality. I have procured several paid enterprise level accounts that show as available. However, when I attempt to change someone's access level from basic to enterprise I get the following error:
vs1720077: Subscription could not be validated.
I have the top level account so I am not sure why I am not able to upgrade these users.
Just as Daniel commented, you must link your work ID. For troubleshooting:
Make sure in the https://msdn.microsoft.com portal you have actually linked your work ID. You still need to explicably do this
even if your MSA and Work ID use the same email address e.g.
user#domain.com. Using the same email address for both IDs can get
confusing, so I would recommend considering you setup your MSA email
addresses to not clash with your work ID.
When you login to VSO MAKE SURE YOU USE THE WORK ID LOGIN LINK (LHS OF DIALOG UNDER VSO LOGO) TO LOGIN WITH A WORK ID AND NOT THE
MAIN LIVEID FIELDS. I can’t stress this enough, especially if you
use the same email address for both the MSA and work account
If you still get issues with picking up the MSDN subscription
. In VSO the admin should set the user to be a basic user
. In https://msdn.microsoft.com the user should make sure they did not make any typo's when linking the work account ID
. The user should sign out of VSO and back in using their work ID,
MAKE SURE THEYUSE THE CORRECT WORK ID LOGIN DIALOG. They should see the features available to a basic user
. The VSO admin should change the role assignment in VSO to be MSDN
eligible and it should flip over without a problem. There seems to be
no need to logout and back in again.

Modx Revolution - New user cannot login

I'm trying to create a new user in MODX REVOLUTION 2.3.0 but for some reason, the user cannot access the manager area. I tried to clear every bit of cache as well as to made sure the password is created by the system (email has been sent) and the user belongs to the Users Group.
Strangely, when looking at the user settings, it says that the user has made some 10 logins, but in reality, he has not.
When I type a wrong password, I get the wrong password error message, when I type a correct password, the input field gets cleared and nothing else happens.
Any idea how to solve this?

It seems that user don't have access to mgr context. Any user needs «frames» permission to get access to the manager.
Try to update user's data and make him a sudoer. It'll help to understand if wrong permissions cause the problem.
Exactly. Like #proxyfabio said, he needs access to the manager. To at least asses if the user login works, give him temporary SUDO rights. If that works, work your way from the ground up.
Make sure an Access Policy Template and Access Policy is created. Make sure the policy contains "frames" and is checked at the Policy Template edit screen. Next, PLEASE, make a separate Role, like "Customer". Go into the Aministrator group (or again, PLEASE, create a Customer group) and head on over to the Users tab. Add the User to the group with the Role Customer - "your level" (I usually use increments of 500 or 1000).
Under Context Access, add the user to the mgr context with the specified role and your Customer policy. Do the same for web if you with to avoid any in depth issues.
Finally, save your settings, flush your permissions, clear your cache and optionally flush your sessions table (you can also delete cookies for the browser you're using). When you've done all that, create an Incognito tab in Chrome or Firefox to avoid issues and try the login again.
I have somewhat the same issue if I try login a duplicate manager user from an android phone, the login count goes up, wrong password gives error and correct password just refresh the login page.
However logging in from a computer works. Initially it didn't...
Here are my steps:
Duplicate manager user
Set new password
Login fails
Click forget login for e-mail
Login successfully (computer) with the new generated password
Change original password to original password!? :D

Add Users to Jenkins with "Allow users to sign up" Disabled

I do not want new users to be able to sign up. So in Jenkin's Configuration, I disabled "Allow users to sign up" with using Jenkin's own user database.
But how can I manually add users now?
Also, is there a default admin user I should take care of?
There is "Create Users" in "Manage Jenkins".
In case "Allow users to sign up" was already disabled and security turned on and there is no user you can use to login the only way to go is to change Jenkins configuration manually on the server and restart server.
Thing to change is in Jenkins Home folder i config.xml file.
change
<useSecurity>true</useSecurity>
to
<useSecurity>false</useSecurity>
restart and refresh browser

Manage Jenkins -> Jenkins own user database, Anyone can do anything. Then you are not forced to login or signup. Manage Jenkins -> Manage Users and you create your users, then setup security accordingly.
If you don't setup the security method first there is no way to add users.
A convenient way for configuring Jenkins is to edit the config.xml file directly and use the Manage Jenkins -> Reload configuration from Disk hyperlink instead of restarting the service.
The recommended way to handle this is to use matrix based security and leave sign up on. Set default permissions to nothing, this way when people sign up they can't actually do anything until you explicitly grant them permissions. If you don't want to leave the sign up on for some reason, you will have to enable to add users and then disable when you are done. As far as I know there is no way to add a user with sign up turned off unless you want to hand edit the config files.
There is no default admin user, you will want to make sure you add yourself with max permissions or you risk getting locked out when you enable security.

TFS2010 accounts

I have created several local accounts in my server, and set password for them. Now, I distribute these accounts to my team members, I wish every one can change their own password, how can I do it? Thank you!
They can login to the desktop of that server and change their password like they would on their own machine. In order to access the desktop of that machine remotely they will need permissions. One way to ensure they have the permission for that is to go to the properties of the computer and enter their names or groups to the remote users:

TFS Installation

I setup TFS today on my machine and whenever I try to go to the web access it keeps asking me for a username and password. It also prompts me for one when I try to administer security in the application tier.
I didn't select a username and password when I set this up and I tried my machines username and password but it won't work. To top it off, my machine does not have a password and it keeps telling me i have to enter a password.
Is there a default password or login that I need to know about?
I'm having a similar problem in Windows 8. I was unable to get it to work in Chrome (my default browser) but I was able to sign in through IE 10 using the same Live ID credentials used to log into the PC.
TFS only works with accounts that have a password.
Also, TFS only works with domain accounts, not machine accounts.
