I'm making a mobile site with JQuery Mobile and need to allow entry to any section and still allow the user to navigate backwards.
Example to show what I mean. The JQuery Mobile demo site starts at:
http://jquerymobile.com/demos/1.0a3/
If I click on "Toolbars" I reach:
http://jquerymobile.com/demos/1.0a3/#docs/toolbars/index.html
There is a back-button which leads to the previous site. But if I manually enter the above toolbar URL into my browser the page will not have a back button.
How can I accomplish to always have a back button, while still keeping the nice AJAX backed page loads? The server back-end will generate all html-pages so it's fine to "hard code" what the previous section is.
If it's fine to hardcode, then just add
<a href="hardcodedprevious" data-icon="back" />
to the header

Below is the part of screenshot of mywebsite/index.php, a PC site with NO jQuery Mobile (JQM), with all scripts and styles.
Below the screenshot of mywebsite/mobile/options.php, a page designed to be run on mobile browsers, having JQM.
Here is the HTML script for Logout button, actually an ahchor tag:
Logout
.. refers to the main mywebsite folder out from mobile folder.
When I tap/click Logout, it should go to mywebsite/index.php, the PC site. And here's what shows up:
If I display the location using alert(document.location);, it shows - mywebsite/mobile/options.php.
I have to press F5 to view the page as it should.
I know that this is happening because JQM loads the pages AJAXually and hence ignores all scripts and stylesheets outside of BODY tag. I know this question is duplicate of many questions in StackOverflow and I have tried my level best to find a solution, but can't find one.
How do I move to the index.php without need to refresh?
You need to add additional code to your logout.php file to execute after the logout code executes. PHP headers can accomplish this. Within your PHP tags, add this to the end of your code:
header( 'Location: http://mywebsite/index.php' ) ;
I am using Rails 2.3.5
What I am trying to do is, by using iframe, I am embedding another website's log in screen into my own website.
Problem is starting when I try to "log in" the website inside the iframe. It is working perfectly fine in Chrome and Mozilla bu not in IE (what a surprise).
To be clear: I am able to see the website inside the iframe only thing that I couldn't do is logging in.
Possible problem: I made an extensive research and I learned because the IE doesn't remember my session (doesn't set cookies) I am not able to log in the site inside the iframe.
p.s : using divs probably won't work for me because if I use div and then log in (hit submit button of that website) then I will end up the website inside my div (inside my iframe right now). I need to stay in my own website.
I am going to band my head against the wall, so waiting for you comments.
(please comment if you need to see some code source or sth. else)
Thanks.
That's worked for me:
"Internet Explorer > Settings > Internet Options > Privacy > Sites" and then I added the name of the website inside my iframe, done.
I am new to jquery mobile. I want to open a dialog containing external page as content. At the same time not want to change hash in url.
I have link
Open dialog
which opens the dialog but changes the hash in url. Need help, thank in advance
From official docs:
Since dialogs are typically used to support actions within a page, the
framework does not include dialogs in the hash state history tracking.
This means that dialogs will not appear in your browsing history
chronology when the Back button is clicked.

I have a web application made with jQuery Mobile beta 2. The start page of the application has the URL http://server/mob/start.php and its page div has ID 'frontpage' and data-url is also 'frontpage'.
When I click a link from the start page and from the just opened page click Home button which points back to URL /mob/start.php, I end up with two frontpage divs in my DOM. The newly added frontpage has the same ID but its data-url is '/mob/start.php/'.
I could of course remove the page divs where I'm navigating away from but after the above described navigation the browser is pointed at URL /mob/start.php#/mob/start.php. Thus when I reload the page, I end up with same situation again.
What am I doing wrong because this problem doesn't seem to appear in jQueryMobile.com site?
UPDATE: Each page is an independent page and contains only one page div so links are not made by ID but by local relative URL.
I updated jQuery Mobile to beta 3 and can no longer reproduce the problem.
I want to have a confirmation dialog (not plain javascript) show when the user clicks a button, but I'd rather have it embeded instead of referencing another page.
How do I embed a dialog for use on a jQuery Mobile page?
You have 2 options really - if you want it to popup and fill the page, you can create a JQM dialog page (even dynamicaly), and switch to it. JQM dialogs are explained more in detail here:
http://jquerymobile.com/demos/1.0b1/docs/pages/docs-dialogs.html
It is quite possible to append a new dialog to the same page (simple append it to the container above the one with data-role="page") and switch to it with $.changePage(...)
Another option, if you want it to popup "over" the existing content (modal mode from UI dialog), this plugin will do that:
http://dev.jtsage.com/jQM-SimpleDialog/
Full disclosure: I wrote the second one, so I am biased. However, it does employ a bit of option 1 above, and you are of course welcome to rip the code apart to see how it works if you'd rather roll your own.
Edit:
Another option is to use the builtin popup interface, added in the last major version (1.2.0 I think). It can be found here, and is included in the default:
