I currently have a folder with a list of small *.ogg files that I would like to insert into an html.erb page in my /public folder.
The code is within video tags - I want to use Ruby to scan the folder and produce a video snippet for each video it finds in the folder. The code will stay the same between videos, except for the video filename.
The resulting page will be a list of playable videos.
Any advice would be awesome.

I am working on a Rails project and I need to convert the HTML page to a PDF page but it's writing HTML as it is on a pdf page. PDF page is not showing like a webpage. How can I generate a proper PDF from an HTML file?

You'll need to use another tool, for example wicked_pdf - see https://github.com/mileszs/wicked_pdf#super-advanced-usage
In your case, to quote from the README, you'll need something like

I have a working edit view to which I'm trying to add CKEditor. I've downloaded the CKEditor folder/files and placed them in my_app/vendor/assets/ckeditor/. I'm using Rails 4 and this folder is included in the asset pipeline. To application.js I've added //= require ckeditor.js and to application.css #import "contents";.
In my edit view I have (I'd like to use the inline option):

Problem: Now when loading the edit view, the text field is not displayed as an editable field but just as plain text. There's no way to edit this text and no sign of CKEditor. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
The page's source code that is being generated, includes:

Update: I got it working by moving the CKEditor files from the vendor folder to the public folder. Could someone perhaps confirm whether or not CKEditor is compatible with the asset pipeline?
I would prefer to place it in the vendor folder if anyway possible. This old post as well as this one refer to something similar (if I place <% var CKEDITOR_BASEPATH = '/ckeditor/'; %> as a header line in application.html.erb my app crashes with the error dynamic constant assignment '.freeze). Could someone with more experience with CKEditor provide a more definitive answer than these old posts?
Try adding the ckeditor assets under either vendor/assets/javascripts for the JavaScript files and vendor/assets/stylesheets for the CSS files (separate the ckeditor assets among those folders)
The whenever an asset is referring to another asset use the asset-url helper instead of url so that this asset is served through the asset pipeline
You also need to include all the assets that you'll put in vendor.... folders in the asset pipeline by //require or import
On a side not you can use the ckeditor gem https://github.com/galetahub/ckeditor it will save you a lot of time also it handles some features out of the box like images upload and gallery of ckeditor
May be the script is executing before the textarea is fully loaded on the DOM. Try to use a post load wrapper to your script like the jquery's:

When my Rails app emails someone, I need to include the contents of one of the CSS files we also use in our application layout file.
It's can't be a normal stylesheet 'link' to the css file, it needs to actually load the contents of the css into the head section of the outgoing email's html view.
How can I tell an email view to 'import' or 'include' the contents of the css file:
/assets/stylesheets/foo.css
I've an app which works fine in development and on my current production server.
I want to move it to FREE heroku (basic config: 1 dyno, 1 worker).
Unfortunately, the pdf generation (using PdfKit) is ok BUT without the pictures defined in my CSS.

Found a workaround but I am still eager to know a better option:
I duplicated my view: one dedicated for html, another for pdf.
I removed all css using pics and put it in a separate file, included only in the view dedicated for html
finally, I inserted the css in the view dedicated to the pdf:
.foo { background-image:url(<%= Rails.root %>/public/images/bar.png) }
Very Ugly but works so please tell me if you've better
It's probably an issue with the way the url's are specified in the css. As I recall, they should be file system absolute paths. What does your css look like?
Here is how I answered my needs with:

The trick was to pass the proper base_url to the css file dynamically, given I expected a pdf or html.
I decided to use LESS. Style compiles css in a different manner, given the base-url I provide in the DOM. This base-url is generated by a helper.
Here were my steps:
changed my style.css to style.less
Added to my view:
<%= stylesheet_link_tag "style.less", :rel => "stylesheet/less" %>
<script id="base_url" type="text/javascript" data="<%= assets_path %>"></script>
<%= javascript_include_tag "less.min.js" %>
In my helper:

How to display a HTML file from my system in iframe using rails?
I will explain my issue...
I have a view file that has an iframe which calls an action through <iframe src="controller/action?param=somevalue"></iframe> and the action renders a HTML file based on the params.
The HTML file called has reference to stylesheets and javascripts in the format <script type="text/javascript" src="../common/About.js"></script>
When viewed in browser the HTML file displays correctly with the styles and javascript but when viewed in the application the styling and scripts are not working from the external file. On viewing the source code for the external files i get "Unknown action" error.
What is that i am doing wrong in this?
(reacting to yr last comment): you need to specify css and js files in the iframed html page separately. html in an iframe is rendered completely independent from the surrounding page.
This is not a rails-related question imho.
I found the mistake I made. Its because of routes being not defined properly. When I give relative urls in the html file, the rails views assumes the full path to be some thing like src="controller/common/About.js". As there is no action defined by the name common I was getting the Unknown action error. I have redefined my routes and its working fine now.
