I am using Spring.NET framework in an ASP.NET MVC project to query sql server databases.
There is a commandtimeout property in Adotemplate class & i would like to know if this is in seconds or minutes?
ex:
using spring.data.core;

adotemplate.commandtimeout = 30;

the command timeout property is in Seconds

Trying to access to a DBF file using Advantage OLE DB provider throws an exception when opening a connection

I have an ASP.NET MVC application which is trying to open below OLE DB connection:

I have installed below package from here.
I am using this provider in order to access a dbf file (specified on the dbfFilePath variable) and then later add some information into it. When I perform the Open command on the above code snippet I get below exception message:
Error 6420: The 'Discovery' process for the Advantage Database Server failed. Unable to connect to the Advantage Database Server. axServerConnect AdsConnect.
Previously I was using VFPOLEDB.4 provider and it was working ok when reading and modifying the dbf file. The problem is that it is only available in 32-bit (there is no version in 64-bit) and now I need it to be in 64-bit so I decided to use Advantage OLE DB provider that is available in 64-bit and as far as I know it does the same as VFPOLEDB.
What am I doing wrong?

If I add some parameters to connection string:

Note: [myTable] has the same name that the dbf file within C:\MyApp\Temp.
Now open command works but when performing insertCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() it gets stuck (it does nothing).
UPDATE 2020/11/27:
Ok,I think I have detected what is happening. It works ok when using Advantage OLE DB provider in 32-bit, however, using Advantage OLE DB provider in 64-bit is not working. In both cases I use it on Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard 64-Bit and Advantage OLE DB provider is version 11.10.
I have checked this using LINQPad 5, and it works but when performing
insertCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()
... and before doing the insert to the dbf file below warning modal window appears waiting for you to click on 'Accept' button. Once you click on the button, insert is done in dbf file correctly.
So, I guess that when running my web application (ASP.NET MVC app) in production environment this warning modal windows does not appear but in fact, it is waiting for you to click on the button to proceed inserting data in the dbf file but as this warning window is not visible (it is not shown) I can click on that button and consequently ExecuteNonQuery never ends (it stalls) and it stays waiting for you to click that button indefinitely.
How can I solve this error? can I modify ads.ini in some way in order to avoid this waring message to appear so application can work?

As it is not working for you, I think it might have to do with:
Access rights. You say, you use with ASP.Net MVC, I wonder if the 'connecting account' has only read access? In IIS, basic settings as I remember there were a setting for connect as. You might at least set it to connect by an account that has full rights to that directory.
Sharing. The file might be in use shared elsewhere and for some reason your insert is waiting trying to get lock?
SET NULL ON ? Another slight possibility. You might need to execute this first, on the same connection. If there are fields that you are not supplying a value in insert but "not null" in table structure would otherwise cause it to fail.
You might start testing the same file from say within LinqPad running with administrator rights to eliminate the access rights stuff alltogether (if data directory is under program files or program files (x86), then it is a problem by itself.
I would expect an immediate error message, but who knows maybe driver is waiting for a timeout in case of write access failure?
Some ideas (the way I do it:)
Instead of trying to use VFP data with 64 bits access, you might create a server that runs in 32 bits IIS Application pool (or use its own web serving) and handles the data access via REST API (or WCF). I use 32 bits ASP.Net MVC application(s) since years with success using VFOLEDB itself.
If you think of REST API path, you might either use ASP.Net core (which is fast unlike the pre core) or use something else, say Go for building it. Go and Iris framework, for an example is an excellent fit to build a REST API server for your data over night (unlikely you would think Go, but if you do, remember to compile with x86 architecture).

If I create a connection pooling in websphere Application server do I need to change anything in Java code?

I am using WAS and DB2 and my Application is coded in Java.

To take advantage of connection pooling provided by WebSphere Application Server, you need to obtain connections from data source. First configure the data source and assign a jndiName to it.
Then you can use resource injection to define a resource reference for it and inject into a Java EE component, for example,

or look it up in JNDI, for example,

Always make sure to close connections that obtain from the data source when you are done with them so they can go back to the pool,

If your application needs to access any JDBC vendor APIs (not part of the JDBC specification), use the JDBC wrapper pattern (unwrap method). For example,

Other than that, usage of connection pooling should be pretty much transparent.

Timeout issue using codefirststoredprocs in MVC5/EF 6. Error reading from stored proc dbo.[...]: Timeout expired

In order to process nearly 70K records at a time, I use codefriststoredprocs 2.5.0 with my application. With few records everything works fine but with large set of data, I receive "The wait operation timed out" exception.
I tried modifying default command timeout value from 30 seconds to 600 seconds in following manner.

but still receives connection timeout message after 30 seconds. I also modified web.config setting Connection timeout value to 600 seconds (I know it is a different thing than command timeout value but give it a go).
I feel like the issue is with codefirststoredprocs library that while executing stored procedure change command timeout value to default. Is there any way to fix this issue or should I go to alternate approach of using stored procedures with my application.

I guess, as mentioned earlier, the command timeout values might have been defaulted to 30 seconds inside CodeFirstStoredProcs library.
With their new release (version 2.6),they have added ‘command timeout’ parameter to the CallStoredProc<> method, that helped me set a default value for commandtimeout
and finally solved my issue.
To process nearly 70K records in my case, I set CommandTimeout = 0 to CallStoredProc<> method. This adds an infinite waiting time to execute stored
procedure.

I got the same problem when changing to EF6.
Your might be setting the CommandTimeout in wrong place. Try setting the CommandTimeout where you are creating the context, like this:

Also check if the CommandTimeout was changed with your approach after creating the context. If so then there might be some other issue.

Altering the timeout setting of an Axis 1.4 generated SOAP Java client

I have a problem with changing the standard options used by an Axis 1.4 generated web service client code.
We consume a certain web service of a partner who is using the old RPC/Encoded style, which basically means we're not able to go for Axis 2 but are limited to Axis 1.4.
The service client is retrieving data from the remote server through our proxy which actually runs quite nicely.
Our application is deployed as a servlet. The retrieved response of the foreign web service is inserted into a (XML) document we provide to our internal systems/CMS.
But if the external service is not responding - which didn't happen yet but might happen at anytime - we want to degrade nicely and return our produced XML document without the calculated web service information within a resonable time.
The data retrieved is optional (if this specific calculation is missing it isn't a big issue at all).
So I tried to change the timeout settings. I did apply/use all methods and keys I could find in the documentation of axis to alter the connection and socket timeouts by searching the web.
None of these seems to influence the connection timeouts.
Can anyone give me advice how to alter the settings for an axis stub/service/port based on version 1.4?

I assigned the property changes before the generation of the service and after, I set the properties during initialisation, I tried several other timeout keys I found, ...
I think I'm getting mad about that and start to forget what I tried already!
What am I doing wrong? I mean there must be an option, mustn't it?
If I don't find a proper solution I thought about setting up a synchronized thread with a timeout within our code which actually feels quite awkward and somehow silly.
Can you imagine anything else?

i tried to run this above code in visual studio 2008 - it shows the following error:
"Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done"
Firstly, don't use ADO in VB.NET. Use ADO.NET.
Other than that, create a proper Connection object instead of passing around a string.
And fix your connection string. It's SSPI, not SSP1. And it's Data Source, not DataSOurce. And it's Initial Catalog, not InitialCatalog.
You are using a very very very old way to access a Database that has been used with Visual Basic 6 and older.
Check to use ADO.NET instead of old ADO. For example you can use this code that is "similar" to the code you are using (but is not the best way to access the data on VS2008)

If you want to access to an SQL Server database also you can use the SQLClient namespace instead the OleDb. For example System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection instead the OleDbConnection to provide better performance for SQL Server
