Fitnesse: No ErrorLogs generated in command line/linux environment - fitnesse

Running Fitnesse in Linux using a command line such as:
java -jar fitnesse.jar -c "TestName?test&format=text"
However, the system.out, which shows up in ErrorLogs in a PC environment does not get created.
Is there a switch to turn this on?
Thanks,
John

Here is documentation for the command line options:
http://fitnesse.org/FitNesse.UserGuide.QuickReferenceGuide#FitNesseCommandLINE
It looks like there's a -l option to specify where the logs should be created.

Try specifying -l /tmp/log.out just to make sure there are no permissions issues.

Can't use commands from ipython or julia repls with zsh

When I try to run a shell command in ipython or the julia repl it just says
shell> ls
zsh:1: command not found: ls
Not sure if it matters, but I have my path set in zshenv instead of zshrc so that emacs shell works.
Any ideas?
Edit:
I'm on macOS 10.14.6
For Julia, The shell> REPL prompt does in fact use a shell to execute its commands (on non-Windows systems). It effectively does something like run(`$shell -c ls`), and for most shells (including zsh) this means "non-interactive" mode and limits the number of init files that get loaded. You want to make sure your shell is working in this mode; I'd guess that if you type zsh -c ls at your terminal it'll be similarly broken.
Alternatively, you can customize which shell Julia uses through an environment variable. Setting JULIA_SHELL=/bin/sh is probably a safe bet — Julia uses that environment variable if it is set, otherwise it uses SHELL, and finally it falls back to /bin/sh if neither is set.
I'm not as familiar with ipython, but I'd wager it's doing something similar.

nix-env and nix-build not found after installation (debian buster)

after the installation following the instructions with
curl https://nixos.org/nix/install | sh
and logout/login, nix-env and nix-build are not found.
I had the problem with debian stretch and now with buster. What am I doing wrong?
The nix manual instructs to execute
source ~/.nix-profile/etc/profile.d/nix.sh
but the instructions printed after the execution say to do (I do not remember exactly)
./~/.nix-profile/etc/profile.d/nix.sh
and the same command is inserted into ~/.profile. The cause of the problem is the difference between . and source (see this superuser question). The script is setting up the $PATH variable in the environment and has the desired effect wtih source but no effect with . (which operates in its own shell and closes it at the end).
Cure:
change the line in .profile (or better move it to .bashrc) to
if [ -e /home/xxx/.nix-profile/etc/profile.d/nix.sh ]; then source /home/xxx/.nix-profile/etc/profile.d/nix.sh; fi
(xxx is your user name),
You need to add this recommended script.
For me only setting $PATH like this worked (in .profile)
export PATH="$PATH:/nix/var/nix/profiles/default/bin"

Running Fitnesse Tests from Command Line

When running the Fitnesse tests via command Line I am getting a ClassNotFound Exception
caused by Java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:fitnesse.runner.testRunner
could not find the main class:fitnesse.runner.TestRunner.Program will exit
Kindly help
Thanks
TestRunner is no longer supported. Use http://fitnesse.org/FitNesse.UserGuide.CommandLineRestCommands

Update: link has changed again - http://fitnesse.org/FitNesse.UserGuide.AdministeringFitNesse.ControllingFitNesseFromTheCommandLine
Excerpt from Fitnesse docs:
You can run any REST command (See Restful Services) from the command
line by using the -c command line option as follows:
java -jar fitnesse-standalone.jar -c
This starts up fitnesse, runs the command, emits the output to
standard out, and then exits.
Most often you will use this to run tests and/or suites from the
command line as follows:
java -jar fitnesse-standalone.jar -c "MyTestPage?test&format=text"

System Call in Rails returns 'No such file or directory'

I try to execute shell commands in rails using the following:
result = `which wkhtmltoimage-proxy`
but I always get back:
No such file or directory - which wkhtmltoimage-proxy
If I just type the command in my shell, everything works but not in the rails environment.
Doesn't matter which commands I try, none of the work.
Do I need to configure anything in rails?
I figured it out. I am using an IDE tool and didn't set the environment variables correctly. Anyways, the problem is solved now. Thanks for all your help!
Think of the system ticks (`) as executing in your rails directory (i.e. 'myapp')
So, if you're expecting to run this command in another directory, such as your home folder, you'll have to specify that
result = `cd ~ && which wkhtmltoimage-proxy`
If this is on Windows
This is spec. Ruby doesn't execute any child process in such case on
Windows, so, ruby cannot set any status to $?.

rubys> cd command not working in command line

I'm just getting into ruby and am trying to execute a walkthrough from Sam Ruby's Agile web development.
I've created a directory using mkdir work
Next i'm instructed to open a terminal and type rubys> cd work
The error I'm getting reads:
No command 'rubys' found, did you mean:
Command 'ruby' from package 'ruby' (main)
rubys: command not found
Can anyone inform me of what I'm doing wrong?
I've also tried changing from ~ to the work directory before entering my command.
In this book, rubys> is a command prompt, much like you have C:\> in the Windows terminal.
Ignore that first bit and everything should start working.
I guess you're doing it wrong.
mkdir work
creates a directory called "work". It has nothing to do with Ruby.
cd work
will then change into that directory. Forget about the rubys>.
