I am developing an mvc.net application and would like to use Facebook Connect as single signon, but do I need to create a Facebook application from within their interface, or can I use the login features without creating an application?
It is required that you register your application through Facebook even just for doing single sign-on. This is mentioned in their instructuctions.
"The JavaScript SDK requires that you register your application with Facebook to get an app id for your site."
I do know that it is required if you are doing any server-side work as well.

We are developing two new react native apps, and need to integrate Azure AD authentication at both the places. We also have existing web apps that are Azure AD enabled and the user can open the web links from our (new) native apps.
We have decided to use MSAL library (react-native-msal) to implement the authentication part mainly to support SSO between the native apps + the web apps that we open in the Safari browser.
We have followed all the steps that the react-native-msal library suggests and are able to achieve SSO between the two native apps.
However, when I login to one native app, and try to open the web app link using react linking, the web app prompts for the login credentials.
Note:
For authenticating user through native app, we are using "Authentication Session" with "prefersEphemeralWebBrowserSession = false" which ideally should share the SSO cookies with the Safari browser.
But clearly, this does not seem to work.
I would like to get some understanding on this problem and find out if others are facing this issue too? or is it just us?
In this case you need a preferred user token and send it along with the login request. For capturing the details of the user at the same time I suggest storing the details in the domain wide cookies that is known for all applications.

Well, it turns out to be a problem with the simulator. This functionality works only on the physical devices (iPhone/iPad) and not on the simulators.
This should have been documented in the react-native-msal's document though.
We implement a native iOS application on top of our application server. We want to give the user the option to login with facebook account BUT we want the account creation to take place in application server.
As i understand, i need to login to facebook via iOS and pass the token to spring-social-facebook.
I want to ask if this is possible (create token in iOS and pass it to application server) and how can i achieve it?
I'm fairly new to iOS development, and I'm starting work on an App that will include some simple Facebook integration. As a proof of concept, I made a bare-bones, view-based application that has a simple button to log a user in to Facebook, and then another button to post a status update.
This is all well and good, but in a real world scenario, a user shouldn't have to login to Facebook every time they want to use the Facebook-integrated features of my App. My question is this: how would I go about persisting a user's login to a file, or to a database for use in a later launch of my App?
Ideally this solution would use Facebook's iOS SDK, but I wouldn't be opposed to building my own authentication system using their Graph API. The advantage of using Facebook's official iOS SDK, though, is that it can use the login information already associated with the phone's Facebook application (if installed), or the login associated with facebook.com on mobile Safari.
I'm not providing my current source code, on the basis that this is a general enough question to not require the specifics of my Facebook SDK usage. However, if you think it would be helpful, I'd be more than happy to post my code.

you wouldn't do that. check out facebook SSO in their SDK ( see https://developers.facebook.com/docs/guides/mobile/ ). You request the facebook token everytime you use it or otherwise get an long-term (read: use access token offline_access) access token and persist this token to the NSUserDefaults for use in your app. ( see http://coffeeshopped.com/2011/01/saving-sessions-with-the-facebook-ios-sdk )
Can I use Facebooker without having to create a whole Facebook App in their Developer section?
I don't need to create a Facebook App with Facebooker, I just want to be able to create events and posts on Facebook with my own custom admin panel on my site. Facebooker seems to have everything built already, so I wouldn't want to use just a raw Rest-Client library.
Can I use Facebooker to read/write to Facebook without creating an App? I'd love to know. If not, can I read/write to Facebook without creating an App another way without resorting to either raw REST requests or page scraping/mechanize?

You have to have created an App in order to get an API key and Secret Key. You must have these keys in order to use any of the FB platform API (including Facebook connect).
I am using RPXnow.com authentication solution for a rails app and am now at the point of wanting to develop Facebook integration features using Facebook Connect and the client api. What I am unclear on from RPXnow docs is the level of integration their solution provides. When a user connects via rpx using their FB creds, are they now using Facebook Connect? Can I make calls to the client api from my app? Do I need to use the RPX api to access the FB client APIs?
Anyone with experience using both who can shed light here, much appreciated.

Great question. Facebook Connect is simply a javascript layer built on top of the Facebook Platform APIs. RPX uses the platform APIs to authenticate the user, and after they have signed in, you may safely use the native Facebook Connect javascript to implement FB specific features on your site like posting activity back to the News Feed. You just need to set your connect URL on the facebook developer site and drop in the Facebook Connect javascript and then start implementing. After authenticating via RPX, the user will already have approved and "connected" to your website, and you'll have access to the breadth of Connect directly.
Also, if you have an RPX Plus/Pro account you can make simple RPX API calls to set a user's status and post activity on Facebook (and Twitter/MySpace).

Once you've hooked up RPXNow (JanRain) single sign-on, you can follow the Facebook documentation. The Server-side Personalization example is in PHP but the idea is the same in any language.

The key point to note is that the $cookie['oauth_access_token'] referenced in this example needs to be the string returned by the RPXNow sign-on API response in the JSON field

Hint: from your RPXNow dashboard, check out the Test Sign-In Widget page under Resources to see where that token is in the response.
Initially I thought this would be hampered by having your Base Domain set to rpxnow.com in your Facebook Application settings, but this is not the case. It works fine.
