I would like to upload the pdf of a paper on my new google site. Specifically, I want that people can click on, say, "paper_title" and can visualize the pdf and, if they want, download it.
I would like if possible a step-by-step explanation.
Thanks!
This is fairly straightforwards:
Firstly, store the PDF files on Google Drive and, set the link sharing as appropriate (e.g. anyone with link can view) so even anonymous internet users can see the file.
To make the PDF available via Google Sites you can either:
From Drive, copy the link to the file, and in new Sites insert a text box and
include the hyperlink to the PDF file in the text box.
in new Sites Insert (From Drive) and select the PDF file from the Google Drive; gives the same result as above, but with a re-sizable thumbnail picture of the PDF file instead of a link.
Exactly what happens after they click on the link is going to depend upon what browser the user is using, and what (if any) PDF viewer plugin is installed. Chrome, pretty much does what you want: it opens the PDF file in a viewer, from where you can download it.
Even if you don't store the PDF on Google Drive, what is described above should still work, as long as you have a hyperlink to the PDF file.
I'm new in OpenERP and I'm starting to know the application.
I hope you allow me to post this kind of questions on the forum.
Whenever I issue any listing or report in OpenERP, the application generates a PDF file to be opened or downloaded. Is there any way to make these listings and reports directly into a browser window so I can print them directly from the browser instead of download/open PDF files?
Thank you very much

You can use this module to open directly in browser.
Just copy this module to your web/addons folder of openerp web
Hope its work
I've looked around a bit and can't seem to figure out how to link to a static file while using Silex. I've seen some similar questions/answers in regards to Symfony, but they involved YML routing files, which I don't use with Silex.
My Situation
I have some files in a /docs folder. Logged in users can upload new pdf files (so, I don't know ahead of time what all of the filenames will be; they're constantly changing).
My Intent
I need to be able to link to these PDF files, so that a click on a link somewhere will open www.myurl.com/docs/myfile.pdf.
The Problem
Due to the routing system in silex, it treats the url as a route (obviously) and throws a Page Not Found error.
Thanks in advance for any feedback!
You need to configure your web server in a way that it does not forward existing files to the front controller. The web servers section of the silex documentation has examples of such configurations for the most popular web servers.
As for the link itself, just link to the file directly, something along these lines:
{{ filename }}
I'm using joomla 1.6 to develop a website also i'm beginner to joomla. I need to attach one or more pdf files with the article. Any one can please help me to attach file with article and how to get this attachment in frontend. Please help any one how to do that. I tried with phoco download and attachments plugin. But i don't
One way to do this is to log into administration and edit your article in Content Items Manager. With the editor you can insert a link. When you do, click on Shared Documents and then upload the pdf you want to attach.
In your article, you need to use your insert/edit link, in the Link URL section enter the full link of where the pdf is found e.g. www.yourdomainname/images/myfile.pdf. It is always advised to open the pdf in a new window so you can set that in the insert/edit link. Hope this helps.
I have a document library with a workflow that dynamicly sets user permissions to edit these documents when certain criteria is met.
The users who need to edit these items are not the brightest users, so to make it failsafe and simple for them I am customizing the DispForm.aspx to only show 2 fields in the Document Library.
"Document" - Name of the document which is a link that opens the document in MS Word.
"Done?" - Yes/No tickbox.
The user gets an e-mail when they have a task assigned; the e-mail contains an URL to the custom DispForm.aspx, the user clicks the link and voila, they see the customized DispForm.aspx with only 2 fields, they know exactly what to do because they won't get distracted by an information-overdose and the only thing the user has to do is click on the document so it would open in Word, user makes changes to document, saves, ticks "yes" in the "Done?" tickbox and the next workflow starts.
Now I'm having this particular problem, when I customize the document library's DispForm.aspx in Sharepoint Designer and add a custom Sharepoint control (Custom Document Library listform) it does not contain the Name field (which contains the URL). I can manually add that link in Sharepoint Designer but then the document gets opened in the web version of Word and if the user wants to save it, it saves to the local harddrive, instead of the Document Library.
What am I doing wrong? How can I include the right URL to a document in a customized DispForm of a document library which opens the document in Word and saves to the Document library and creates a draft version?
Suggestions, tips or other solutions VERY welcome!
Erik

I wrote a blog on how to get an External Link for Editing a SharePoint Document. Maybe that can help.
