Per the answer above - take a look in BB event log, I suspect you'll find an exception there with a rough stack trace that should give you a starting point.
To get to the event log , from the Home screen type ALT L ALT G ALT L ALT G

Android Studio 3.0 - SDK path not specified

I tried to update Android Studio to 3.0 but got some crazy error, so I uninstalled AS and installed AS 3.0, but now when I try to open a file, I get an "SDK path not specified" error and nothing I select is accepted.
I cannot find any file called "android-sdk" or something similar, which is what most of the other solutions on Stack Overflow suggest selecting.
How do I fix this?
Right now I'm trying this, but no clue if it will help:
1. I went to File -> Settings -> System Settings -> Android SDK
2. I specified C:\ProgramFiles\Android and it's installing.
UPDATE: This more or less worked. I had to install a million updates afterwards, but it solved the problem.
This is halfway there. I found going through the File -> Settings tree that even though I hadn't selected NDK (Native) options, the folder names must not contain spaces. I created an Android/SDK folder tree on a spare drive all its own to alleviate this concern by AS.
Then without a space in the name, I was able to choose SDKs to download, and so it has begun.
Your question and self-confirmation of a work around got me there after I, myself was looking for a couple weeks. Thanks
This is the MOP (Method of Procedure) for this:
Took me a while to figure this out as the documentation is not clear on this at all. Cancel the dialogue box asking for the Android SDK path and do the following:
Open Android Studio IDE. Find the down arrow icon, should be second last icon in the toolbar. Click that. You will see a path for Android SDK Location:. Click the edit link to the right of that. This will bring up the SDK Components Screen. If you can check the boxes there, check them. They may already be checked or they may be disabled. You can leave the path as is, for me its:
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk
Depending on whether you had Android Studio before it may say it has detected a previous version and it will only download the components it needs. This is normal. Now click the NEXT button. A confirmation screen will come up with Setup Type and SDK Folder. If you want to change your SDK Folder this is your last chance, if not, click NEXT again.
It may bring up a Terms & Conditions screen, click the Accept radio button then NEXT. It will go and download the Android base SDK. When it's completed click FINISH.
You will then be taken to the Platforms screen where you can select which Android platforms you want to support. ie, Android 9.0 (Pie), Android 8.1 (Oreo). Select all the platforms you need then click APPLY.
The downloader will grab all those packages for you. Next, click the SDK Tools tab. Check the boxes of the tools you want and click APPLY. It may bring up a Terms & Conditions screen again, click the Accept radio button then NEXT. When completed just click FINISH and you're good to go.

Interface Builder cannot find .xib - Xcode 5.0.2

I recently became interested in mobile app development and want to take my coding experience from elec. engring to the iphone. Im having trouble though. I am trying to compile my first app onto my phone (got it to run perfectly on the iOS simulator last night). However, upon compiling i get the following error:"Interface Builder XIB Compiler Error: Interface Builder could not open the document "xxx.xib" because it does not exist"
I've tried going into my target and setting Main Interface to xxx.xib and I still get the same error on both iPhone and iOS simulation. I've tried setting my interface to Xcode 4.6 and messing with the builds and views, still have the same issue. I built it from scratch - same issue.
All help appreciated. I know the default is building with story board, but I am following a book I am happy with and I want to go through it with the .xib because thats what the book uses. Thanks -
Select your project (blue icon) in the project navigator then choose:
Build Phases > Copy Bundle Resources
Make sure your xib file is on the list. You can add it by clicking the plus (+) icon on the lower left.
UPDATE:
Consider opening a new project as a sanity check. Change the background color and verify that it runs in the simulator. If it does then this will point to a project settings issue rather than an installation problem.
You may also want to look at the following walkthrough by Apple. Hopefully following the steps will help illustrate anything you might be missing.
Apple also has a latest tutorial that I recommend you walkthrough. After completing please let me know if you are continuing to have this problem. The number of potential problems is greater than simply walking through the 15 min tutorial.

Phonegap - gap in tutorial for iOS?

Despite the title, I fully expect this to be a user error.
I've done mostly native Android development, and now I'm trying to get an HTML5/Phonegap application going on iOS. I'm following the extended "getting started" tutorial Here. I get the application up and running on a physical test device, but my phonegap functionality is non-responsive, so something is amiss.
Take a look at the following screenshots from the tutorial, we'll call this step 3:
The screenshot above is what my project looks like at this point. I see the PhoneGap.framework in there, so I'm feeling optimistic. Step 4 says, drag your "WWW" folder into your project, which I did (assuming the red box indicates the landing zone), and I was prompted with the screenshot presented in the tutorial, I selected the same options..
Step 5 shows the screenshot above. Notice the differences:
PhoneGap.framework isn't there anymore
There is another project in the workspace called PhoneGapLib.xcodeproj
There was only one simple step in between, yet the project looks very different. It seems to me, that more things happened than just dragging the www folder?? I know thousands of people are using PhoneGap with iOS, so I'm hoping one of you can shine a light on what went wrong here.
Ok, looks like this was indeed a user error. When you create the PhoneGap project, you're supposed to run a build before you do anything. This generates the www folder, but doesn't actually add it to your project. You have to go to the folder location where your app resides, and drag the created www folder into the project.
I was dragging my own www folder that already had my code that works in Android. Not sure why this didn't work.
In my defense, even now that it's working, my project doesn't look like the screenshot above with the additional phonegap project. Either way - I hope this saves someone some time...

BlackBerry on-device debugging does not show string values

On simple button click in BlackBerry I am writing this:
String str = "xyz";
labelField.setText(str);
When I debug the code, under the "Variables" window I cannot see value of 'str' as 'xyz' -- it is showing value of str equal to null and when I click over it, it is showing this message:
Method "toString" with signature "()Ljava/lang/String; is not applicable on this object
though the code is working fine.
What is the problem in debug mode?
Hey guys I think I have the solution for you.
Since I was having the same problem and was looking arround to find some answers (and didn't find any) I tried to just solve it by the trial-error method.
To cut the long story short: Check if you accidently have deleted your emulator *.debug files. For example I've had deleted mine (don't ask why :) ), so after I restored the whole simulator folder within the RIM JDE I've tried to debug again and voila - I could now see the values of the variables.
This is the location of the simulator folder within my BB JDE Eclipse Plugin (The standalone version that contains eclipse itself). The used BB JDE is 4.5.0 but the same folder structure is found on any JDE version.
C:\Users\GDimitrov\Documents\programs\bb_jde_plugin\plugins\net.rim.ejde.componentpack4.5.0_4.5.0.28\components\simulator
And this is the location of the simulator folder for the BB JDE 4.5.0 installed additionally through the BB installer.
C:\Program Files (x86)\RIM\BlackBerry_JDE_4.5.0\simulator
Cheers
Simply add System.out.Println statement there to display message you want.

How to make auto start application in blackberry

I don't know how make my application as auto start application. That is my expectation is,After simulator loads it should not open normal main screen which consist of contacts icon, message icons. it should directly run my application.
Try project->properties->BlackBerry Project Properties->Application tab->Auto-run on startup
See BlackBerryForums.com - Running a Java App on Startup
Here's another link related to the subject matter:
http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800451/800660/How_To_-_Create_an_auto-start_MIDlet.html?nodeid=1408081&vernum=0
However, it sounds like you might be expecting the simulator to work like other manufacturer simulators where the application you are working on automatically boots when the simulator starts. This doesn't happen with the BlackBerry simulator, but your app should be located in the Download folder.
To add to Max Gontar's answer, make sure that this same name is stored in the property:
BlackBerry Project Properties -> Build tab -> Output file name
And then the Debug Configuration needs to be updated with this same Output file name. By default, the debug configuration inserts the name of the project, which is not always the same as this output name.
That's the part that got me caught out (project name was copied from a different project).
So it is possible.
Through XML descriptor of any blackberry application one can set checked on auto-run on start up and select start up tier for your application.
