I am a new user and may I ask any suggestion!!!
How could I extract metadata information of a Revit objects (like Column / Beam / Wall) from Revit and IFC models ?
I search the metadata topic in this forum, but I could not find.
My desire metadata information is Extruted Direction XYZ, Object Shape Information (like Clipping / CSG / Brep / Swept solid).
PLease instruct me any sources and information. Thank you very much!!!
Welcome to the Autodesk Platform Services and Revit API!
You have two options:
Install Revit on your Windows desktop PC, run it locally, implement a Revit add-in and use the built-in .NET Revit API
Make use of the cloud-based Autodesk Platform Services (formerly Forge) and their Design Automation API for Revit

Please can you advise on the below questions?
Read 2D entity data stored in CAD dwg/database such as WDH, Position etc and create 3D entity associate with Revit family using DA4R API on the cloud?
Assemble all the entities and generate and save revit file using DA4R API on the cloud?
Thanks,
Suresh
If you are talking about the general idea, Yes, you can achieve that with Design Automation for Revit API, you can refer the sample for creating Revit family. And we can talk more if any detail questions.
How complex a project would this be?
There is the issue of integrating the dataset specific API.
I.e. dataset column names, dataset metadata perhaps
There is the issue of integration higher level APIs.
I.e names of datasets available, information about the specific portal, ...
Am I missing the point here with my question? Or would this a major coding project?

There are a couple of options you might take a look at:
You can actually create maps from Socrata data right from within our data exploration tools. Here's a support article on how you can do so
Using the GeoJSON output from our API, you can pull data into tools like CartoDB without needing to download it first
You could create a map mashup using a library like Leaflet or the Google Maps API. Here's an example of how to do it with the Google Maps API
Can i use Here Maps
http://here.com/,
in blackberry RIM version 5.0 and above development?
Because i have an application which gets the user location and i need to put 2 pins on the map and get the distance between them , and the client wants Here maps.
I used bing map lately, but i need here map now.
Bing Maps SDK For Blackberry 6.0
Option 1) Use the Maps API for Java ME with the Blackberry JDK
There is no native Maps API marketed for Blackberry, however the Maps API for Asha is a general Java ME API, whose only dependencies are CLDC1.1 and MIDP2.0, so there is no reason why it shouldn't work with the Blackberry JDE. This article describes the similarities.
There are a series of code examples available which should work out of the box, except for one thing - you'll need to get hold of the jar files which usually reside in
C:/Nokia/Devices/Nokia_Asha_SDK_1_0/plugins/maps api/lib/
which can be obtained from the Nokia Asha SDK.
So all you'll need to do is download the SDK, extract the file maps-core.jar or any of the other packages you want and access them as external JAR dependencies in the usual manner. See the examples on github for an idea of the capabilities of the library.
Option 2) Use the Map Image API with the low level i/o
Now, if all you need is a single "quick and dirty map", you can make a series of http calls to m.nokia.me using javax.microedition.io to get a map on screen. This article explains why using a static map is probably a bad idea, but it would be a simple solution.
Option 3) Create a cross-platform HTML5 app using Cordova or Web Apps
This would be where the Maps API for JavaScript would be useful,
Basically if you would visit the developer.here.com native APIs section, you could see that there is no offering for Blackberry.
Anyway, thus, if you really want to use HERE maps with the platform, you should check out the Javascript API
I've tried Google but I'm not smart enough to build my own Google Store locator. Everything is either old or in PHP and I use Python. Even GAE uses Python but I can't find any tutorials for Python at all. I even had a bounty here on S.o. for resources to a Python store locator and the only answer had a post from 2008 that was updated to "deprecated" on the post itself.
So I decided to give Bing a try and it has more noob options, such as "enter address here" and then it's listed in the app. The only problem is that everything is pointing me to Bing Spacial Datasend and it says they want to charge an arm and a leg.
Also, if you know of any, are there any good tutorials on building a Bing Store Locator? Google search has come up empty for me but they could always be hiding them. Thanks.
If you have less than 50 locations you can use the Bing Spatial Data Services under the free terms of use. If your application is a public facing web site, which most store locators are you can also generate 125,000 transactions against Bing Maps for free per year. If this is enough or not would depend on the number of stores and customers you have. The Bing Spatial Data Services is a really good option as you simply upload your data and it exposes it as a spatial rest service for you which you can access directly from JavaScript without the need for any server side code. Here is an example of how to query a data source in the Bing Spatial Data Services: http://www.bingmapsportal.com/ISDK/AjaxV7#SpatialDataServices1
If your application has a lot more volume then you would need a Bing Maps license. The cost of a license varies depending on the amount of transactions your application will use. If you have a Bing Maps license data sources can have up to 600,000 locations in a single data source and each Bing Maps account is allowed up to 25 data sources.
I'm looking for an open source news feed engine to use in an app I'm developing.
The engine needs to be able to aggregate news (items) from multiple sources a user is following and also optionally group them by news source or news type. A scalable solution in Java or with Java interface would be great.
I have already developed a very simple one, but I would prefer to use a robust and reliable solution instead.
Do you have any suggestion?
I created a backend for this in Java builing on neo4j: It is independent on the number of users and news sources one follows but depends just linear on the amount of items you want to display
find an explaination how it works and benchmarks with social networks with up to 2 mio users at http://www.rene-pickhardt.de/graphity-an-efficient-graph-model-for-retrieving-the-top-k-news-feeds-for-users-in-social-networks/

In case you also use .NET, Argotic Syndication Framework is for sure the best
http://argotic.codeplex.com/
Yahoo pipes is a very good rss feed which lets you create your own feed aggregator with custom filters.
Note: Python version for Yahoo pipes Pipe2py.
Aonther offering from yahoo is Daper.
There are few more online tools for creating custom feeds which you might want to look at.
FeedDistiller is a free service for aggregating new feeds by subject,
