Jenkins trigger job by scanning a file or rest api - jenkins

I have a requirement where Jenkins job should trigger based on contents in the file or scanning pattern in the email.
Do we have plugin like that?
There is a plugin File found trigger, build will be triggered based on a file found in the given location. Anything similar for the above ask.
Please note that I don't want to run as a scheduler. We need more like event driven

Get Sonarqube Analysis Status on a variable (GUI Job)

I couldn't find any solutions to this particular need.
Basically I have a GUI Job and I need the status of the Sonarqube Analysis so I can later send a POST Request with it.
(I'm aware that pipeline exists and works great but because a specific reason I need it to be GUI)
On the pipeline you have the WaitForQualityGate.status(), I've tried using this but no success.
Example of what is desired
Any insights? Thanks in advance
You can use the SonarQube Rest API to get the status.
Whenever you run SonarQube analysis through Jenkins Pipeline, upon the successful analysis you will see report-task.txt created in the workspace folder.
Note: The location of report-task.txt file depends on the tool that was used to generate it. The mvn sonar:sonar task defaults to path target/sonar. In my case, I used sonarscanner to analyse a nodejs project. So the location of report-tast.txt is .scannerwork.
Now, you will get the ceTaskUrl and ceTaskId in report-task.txt. You can use that ceTaskUrl to get the analysisId.
Then, you can use the below api to get the quality gate status using analysisId.
http://<sonarqube_host>/api/qualitygates/project_status?analysisId=$ANALYSIS_ID"
Now, try to get the curl output of the above API into a variable.
If you mean to say that you want a custom variable message to pop up in your Jenkins GUI based on the SonarQube scan status, then that would require you to:
Clone the original Jenkins source code
Add a custom HTML button/div/graphic
Compile the Jenkins code
Build the new code
Execute the generated JAR
Else, you can try some plugins available on Jenkins that would give you the ability to render conditional outputs. No promises on whether they can actually help you change the original GUI.
Any alternative traditional approach wouldn't be able to fulfill your GUI requirement.

How to send additional data elements in Jenkins Notification Plugin?

I use Jenkins Pipeline Jobs and invoke build using its remote API's.
I also use Build Notification plugin to invoke my API once the build is complete for further downstream automation. As per the plugin documentation, it provides a fixed set of data elements from the build. However as part of the build, the Job has generated some data elements which I need to provide it back to my API which gets invoked by Notification plugin (As part of the JSON Payload). Can someone help me how do pass additional data elements through this plugin? or any better ways of doing it?
For example,
1. When the pipeline job is configured with notification endpoint, the jenkins config XML has the following entry
<com.tikal.hudson.plugins.notification.HudsonNotificationProperty plugin="notification#1.11">
<endpoints>
<com.tikal.hudson.plugins.notification.Endpoint>
<protocol>HTTP</protocol>
<format>JSON</format>
<url>http://localhost/api/postStatus</url>
<event>finalized</event>
<timeout>30000</timeout>
<loglines>20</loglines>
</com.tikal.hudson.plugins.notification.Endpoint>
</endpoints>
</com.tikal.hudson.plugins.notification.HudsonNotificationProperty>
A pipeline script just builds an image and the image ID has to be sent in the notification
I did not find a perfect solution in the existing Jenkins Notification Plugin. However the solution that I used it to pass the data as part of the Log Text and parse the information in the other side.

Modify notifications on a running build in jenkins

I occasionally want to get notified when a particular jenkins job that is building finishes. Is there any way to do this?
Scripting it through the API would be fine. I already have the jenkins IRC bot that notifies me of many things, so if I could just dynamically modify the running job build, that would be enough to do what I want -- I'm just having a hard time finding how to accomplish that.
AFAIK, you cannot change a job's config while it's running.
Here is an idea: Use a post-build step to check for an external resource status (like a file containing an action by text) and running an action based on the content of the file.
The external file can be modified while the build is running, so when the post-build is executed, it will follow the logic defined based on the content of the file.
I hope this helps.
You can use email notifier, It will send you an email

Is there a possibility in jenkins to run build only if something changed (in ClearCase SCM) from last build?

I need to build in jenkins only if there has been any change in ClearCase stream. I want to check it also in nightly or when someone choose to build manually, and to stop the build completely if there are no changes.
I tried the poll SCM but it doesn't seem to work well...
Any suggestion?
If it is possible, you should monitor the update of a snapshot view and, if the log of said update reveal any new files loaded, trigger the Jnekins job.
You find a similar approach in this thread.
You don't want to do something like that in a checkin trigger. It runs on the users client and will slow tings down, not to mention that you'd somehow have to figure out how to give every client access to that snapshot view.
What can work is a cron or scheduled job that runs lshistory and does something when it finds new checkins.
Yes you could do this via trigger, but I'd suggest a combo of trigger and additional script.. since updating the snapshot view might be time-consuming and effect checkins...
Create a simple trigger that when the files you are concerned about are changed on a stream will fire..
The script should "touch/create" a file in some well-known network location (or perhaps write to a pipe)...
the other script could be some cron (unix) or AT (windows) job that runs continually or each minute and if the well-known file is there will perform the update of the snapshot view..
The script could also read the Pipe written to by the trigger if you go that route
This is better than a cron job that has to do an lshistory each time.. but Martina was right to suggest not doing the whole thing in a trigger for performance and snapshot view accessability for all clients.. but a trigger to write to a pipe or write some empty file is efficient and the cron/AT job that actually does the update is effieicnet as it does not have to query the VOB each minute... just the file (or only after there is info on the pipe)..

To get build status through environment variable

I am using jenkins for continous integration.
For my build purpose, i triggering email using Ant task. I am not able to find an environment variable to pass ant for sending email build status(success/failure/stable).
i want to know how can i get environment variable for build status?..if not available, what is the alternative option for build status?
Thanks in Advance

Why use ANT to send emails from Jenkins when you have two great plugins that does just that?
The default mail notification is quite good, and if you would like to have more control
I suggest using the Email-ext plugin which is very comprehensive.
If still wish to use ANT to sent your mail-notifications including the status
you will have to break your process into two steps,
where the first part runs the build and the second one runs the ANT script to report the status.
In this case, you will need to trigger the second job from the first job via the Parameterized Build plugin -
see my answer here:
trigger other configuration and send current build status with Jenkins
The build status is not set until the job has finished running, so there is no easy way to push build status to a process triggered within the build itself. You could pull build status via the API, but this would have to be an externally triggered process due to the constraint mentioned above. Any reason you aren't using the built in email support or one of the excellent email extension plugins such as this one?
