Xcode 12.4 “Unsupported OS version” after iPhone iOS update 14.7

Closed 1 year ago.
I have MacBook Air 2012 on MacOs Mojave with the latest version of MacOs I can install being Catalina. The latest version of Xcode that Catalina supports is Xcode 12.4, which only can build for iOS 14.4 and older. But my iPhone has iOS 14.7 and I can't downgrade it. Is it possible to build for iOS 14.7 with Xcode 12.4 or, better, Xcode 11.3 since I use Mojave?
Using simulator is not an option because I need to access bluetooth.
Thanks

Yes. You can use iOS 14.7 on Xcode 12.4. You only need to add device support file in Xcode for iOS 14.7.
You need to add device support file from this link

How to install iOS 9.x Simulator on Xcode 11?

I'm developing and iOS app with iOS 9 support, but with Xcode 11 update I'm missing the possibility to add / install iOS 9 simulator.
Is there any chance to have iOS 9.x simulator in Xcode 11?
It seems iOS 9 simulator is supported by Xcode 11, but only on macOS 10.14 Mojave. After upgrade to macOS 10.15 Catalina, this simulator is not supported any more.
Though I didn't find confirmation of this in any release notes. The only acknowledgment I found is this tweet by Apple engineer: https://twitter.com/xenadu02/status/1140093901438689280?lang=en
I tried installing Xcode 10.1 on my Mac, but it also did not work for iOS9, i suspect it has to do with Apple dropping support for 32 bit applications (like iOS9)
iOS 9.3 (9.3 - 13E233) - com.apple.CoreSimulator.SimRuntime.iOS-9-3 (unavailable, The iOS 9.3 simulator runtime is not supported on hosts after macOS 10.14.99.) (unavailable, The iOS 9.3 simulator runtime is not supported on hosts after macOS 10.14.99.)
I've got macOS Catalina 10.15.5 currently installed and the only solution I found to test my app on iOS 9 simulator it's described in the following steps:
create a virtual machine with macOS Mojave 10.14.4 (following steps are done into the virtual machine)
install Xcode 10.2.1
Download and install the simulators you need from Preferences/Components
install Xcode 11
Now you should be able to test your app on iOS 9... kind of
iOS 9.0 is not supported by Xcode 11.
Jayaraj M, it's not a true:
Xcode 11 is available in the Mac App Store and includes SDKs for iOS
13, macOS Catalina 10.15, watchOS 6, and tvOS 13. Xcode 11 supports
development for devices running iOS 13.1. Xcode 11 supports on-device
debugging for iOS 8 and later, tvOS 9 and later, and watchOS 2 and
later. Xcode 11 requires a Mac running macOS Mojave 10.14.4 or later.

How to fix Xcode error: Could not locate device support files on iPhone with Xcode
(8 answers)
Closed 4 years ago.
I got following error in Xcode when run my app in my Device. Xcode Version is 10.01, My Device iOS Version 12.2 (iPhone 5S).
Could not locate device support files.
You need to update your Xcode to the latest version. You can use this link.
OR
You can download latest iOS device support file from this github repository and copy the folder to this path of your current Xcode:
/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/
Now after restarting your Xcode, it should work fine.
You can get the latest device support files here:
iOS 13.6
iOS 14.0 (From Xcode 12 beta 4)
for iOS 12.2 you need Xcode 10.2 beta 2 and if you don't want to download new xcode then you need to manually download device support files.
You can download 12.2 simulator from here and paste this folder at this path.
Donload simulator : Simulators
Simulator Path :
/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/
After doing this you will able to run in your 12.2 device.
Well, you should update your Xcode to latest version to support running it on your iOS Device.
From overView here, it supports upto iOS 12.1:
Xcode 10.1 includes SDKs for iOS 12.1, watchOS 5.1, macOS 10.14.1, and tvOS 12.1. Xcode 10.1 supports on-device debugging for iOS 8 and later, tvOS 9 and later, and watchOS 2 and later. Xcode 10.1 requires a Mac running macOS 10.13.6 or later.
You can read release not here and can download Xcode 10.2 beta version here
Hope it helps.

This iPhone 6 is running iOS 11.3.1 (15E302), which may not be supported by this version of Xcode

I'm using Xcode 9.2 with Sierra 10.3.3 . And my iPhone 6 is with 11.3.1 (15E302). I'm unable to use my iPhone 6 for the test purpose of my IOS apps. Because, the Xcode says, Could not locate device support files. This iPhone 6 is running iOS 11.3.1 (15E302), which may not be supported by this version of Xcode.
Please help me if anyone have the device support for 11.3.1 (15E302)
Thanks
You need to update to Xcode 9.3.
Another option is to download the 11.3 device support
iOS 11.3
Remove "(15E217)" from folder name, so it became "11.3". Restart Xcode.
You need to upgrade your xcode version to make the app capable to run in that version of iPhone , or you can get the support files form Here and put in this path ( after unZip )
/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport
Xcode 9.2 only supports up to iOS 11.2
Update Xcode

Is there a way to get iOS 7 simulator on Xcode 8 beta

I just updated my Xcode to beta version (8.0) and I lost the iOS8 prior simulator that I had in the previous version. I still need the iOS 7 SDK and iOS 8.Appreciate any help
No. The iOS 7.1 Simulator runtime is not supported on macOS 10.11 and newer. Xcode 8 requires macOS 10.11 or newer. Thus they are not compatible based on the host OS requirements.
No,this is no way to install iOS7 in Xcode 8, because they are different runtime
