Jenkins declarative pipeline failed with NullPointerException - jenkins

Question

I don't know why all of the sudden all of my pipelines stopped working. Now every time a pipeline is run, it gives this error

Here is an example pipeline that I created to test that this does indeed happens for even the simplest pipeline

I did recently updates all of the plugins that was available. Could this be the source of the problem?

I guess you need to change the pipeline durability setting in configure system of Jenkins setting to something performance-optimized(clean shutdown).

It turns out that was due to an update to one of the plugins. I'm not sure which plugin that was causing this problem, but what I did was using this command on the machine that Jenkins was running on:
ls -alt *.hpi *.jpi
This should list all of the installed plugins along with their date of installation. By copy and pasting the name returned by this command into google, you will be able to find the full plugin name and able to revert it back to previous version using Jenkins GUI.
