I'm trying to remove a pattern string from a string.
[Armor] Reset the Cooldown of Rocket Boots after falling to or below {scale=10|10}% Health.
I know how to remove the pattern, but i need to get the pattern before remove it.
In this case i need something like these.

Is there a function that can get a substring with regex?

Not entirely sure what you want but you can use an instance of RegExp to match against a String like:

Lua script for scan with 'match' and 'count' constraints

I am using Jedis. I need a Lua script to scan for a pattern with a specified limit. I don't know how to pass the parameters inside Lua script.
Sample Code:

How do I pass these parameters to the script?
Your code has several points to fix.
In scan command, 'match' parameter should be placed prior to 'count'.
You should only use KEYS when it is a place for Redis key. Other things should be represented to ARGV.
You forgot to specify key count while calling Jedis.eval().
So, fixed version of your code is,
String script="return {redis.call('SCAN',ARGV[1],'MATCH',ARGV[2],'COUNT',ARGV[3])}";
List<String> response = (List<String>)jedis.eval(script, 0, cursor, pattern, COUNT);
But I agree Itamar to use Jedis.scan() instead.

Caching streams in Functional Reactive Programming

I have an application which is written entirely using the FRP paradigm and I think I am having performance issues due to the way that I am creating the streams. It is written in Haxe but the problem is not language specific.
For example, I have this function which returns a stream that resolves every time a config file is updated for that specific section like the following:

In the reactive programming library I am using called promhx each step of the chain should remember its last resolved value but I think every time I call this function I am recreating the stream and reprocessing each step. This is a problem with the way I am using it rather than the library.
Since this function is called everywhere parsing the YAML every time it is needed is killing the performance and is taking up over 50% of the CPU time according to profiling.
As a fix I have done something like the following using a Map stored as an instance variable that caches the streams:

This might be a good solution to the problem but it doesn't feel right to me. I am wondering if anyone can think of a cleaner solution that maybe uses a more functional approach (closures etc.) or even an extension I can add to the stream like a cache function.
Another way I could do it is to create the streams before hand and store them in fields that can be accessed by consumers. I don't like this approach because I don't want to make a field for every config section, I like being able to call a function with a specific section and get a stream back.
I'd love any ideas that could give me a fresh perspective!
Well, I think one answer is to just abstract away the caching like so:

You may be able to find a more "functional" implementation for memoize down the road. But the important thing is that it is a separate thing now and you can use it at will.
You may choose to memoize(parseYaml) so that toggling two states in the file actually becomes very cheap after both have been parsed once. You can also tweak memoize to manage the cache size according to whatever strategy proves the most valuable.

How to understand the "isCommitted" property of ParserResult?

I'm reading the source of polux's great parsers, and found there is a special isCommitted property which I can't understand:

You can see there is already a isSuccess to indicate the parse result is successful or not, why do we need a isCommitted? I tried to read related code, but still don't understand.

The short answer is: don't worry about isCommited, it's for internal purposes only.
The long answer is: you can call commited on a paser, which means that once it has succeeded, you know for sure that it's pointless to backtrack (very much like Prolog's cut). For instance consider a grammar like this:
expr() => str('(') + rec(expr) str(')') ^ ...
| num()
Assume we parse the string "(...". Once we have recognized the parenthesis, we know for sure that if ... turns out not to be an expr, there is no need to rewind to the start of the string and try to parse a num, since a num will never start with a parenthesis anyway. We can fail early. This is done by marking ( as being a "commit point":
expr() => str('(').commited + rec(expr) str(')') ^ ...
| num()
This is an optimisation which should be used with great care because it breaks the modularity of parsers with respect to |. I personally never had to use it so far.
Whenever you call commited on a parser, it returns a new parser whose isCommited property is true. It is then used by | to decide whether to backtrack or not. This is what isCommited is used for. As an end user you should never have to care. I should probably make it private.
This feature is inspired by Polyparse's commit.

Lua Error Attempt to perform arithmetic on local variable

Update: as indicated below I needed to use L.pushNumber(8.0) instead of L.pushJavaObject()
Try using L.pushNumber instead of L.pushJavaObject like this:

Lua probably sees JavaObject as a type of 'userdata' in which case there are no predefined operations for it; Lua won't know what to do with a JavaObject * 2 since you didn't define how to handle it.
OTOH, Lua does know how to handle a number since that's a builtin primitive type. For the code snippet you presented, pushing a number would be the least painful way to get it working instead of writing extra code that tells Lua how to work with numbers wrapped inside a JavaObject.

How can I load an unnamed function in Lua?

I want users of my C++ application to be able to provide anonymous functions to perform small chunks of work.
Small fragments like this would be ideal.

Now I'd like to be able to write something as simple as this for my C code,

However I dont think lua_loadstring will do "the right thing".

If you need access to parameters, the way you have written is correct. lua_loadstring returns a function that represents the chunk/code you are compiling. If you want to actually get a function back from the code, you have to return it. I also do this (in Lua) for little "expression evaluators", and I don't consider it a "horrible hack" :)
If you only need some callbacks, without any parameters, you can directly write the code and use the function returned by lua_tostring. You can even pass parameters to this chunk, it will be accessible as the ... expression. Then you can get the parameters as:
local arg1, arg2 = ...
-- rest of code
You decide what is better for you - "ugly code" inside your library codebase, or "ugly code" in your Lua functions.
Have a look at my ae. It caches functions from expressions so you can simply say ae_eval("a*x^2+b*x+c") and it'll only compile it once.
