Calculate Isochrones using Apple Mapkit - ios

Is it possible to calculate Isochrones using Apple Mapkit? I'm not yet familiar with this API, thus I'd like to know in advance whether it's worth learning it.
Actually, I'd like to get all nodes on surrounding streets, in a given distance from a predefined point.

MapKit supports polygon drawing on the map. There is no isochrone function per say, it has to be built by you.

Lidars in Drake

I want to simulate lidars. I saw that a class DepthSensor was mentioned in the documentation, but I have not found its actual implementation. For now, I am planning on using the RgbdSensor class and use only the height I need of the depth point cloud I receive to simulate my lidars.
Just to get your input on that, maybe I missed something, but is there a specific class for lidars, and how would you go about adding lidars to a simulation?

You've discovered an anchronism in the code. There had previously been a lidar-like sensor (called DepthSensor). The extant documentation refers to that class. The class's removal should've been accompanied by a clean up of the documentation.
The approach you are taking is the expected approach given Drake's current state.
There has always been an intention to re-introduce a lidar-like sensor in Drake's current architecture. It simply hasn't been a high priority.
I'd recommend you proceed with what you're currently doing (lidar from depth images) but, at the same time, post an issue requesting a lidar-like query with specific focus on the minimum lidar-properties that you require. A discussion regarding how that would differ from what you can actually get from the depth images would better inform of us your unique needs and how to prioritize it. (You can also indicate more advanced features that you need less but would be good to have, of course).
As for the question: how would you go about adding lidars?
That's problematic. Ideally, what you would need is ray-casting ability. The intent is for QueryObject to support such a query, but it hasn't happened yet. (It's certainly the underlying technology we'd have used to implement a LidarSensor.) In the absence of that kind of functionality, you'd essentially have to do it yourself in the most horrible, tedious way imaginable. I'd go so far as to suggest that it's not feasible with the current API.

Implementing MapKit iOS Xcode

I am implementing Mapkit in iOS application to make an application which shows posts to users based on his/her location like tinder do. I have tried an algorithm which calculates distance based on coordinates between user and posts. But it seems to be a very costly solution in terms of time, it has a very high complexity, i just wanted to ask is it the right way am doing or should i change my approach. Thank You.
You can you Google API to find the distance between a origin & destination and update the posts aysnc. Hope it helps
Note: You can also pass multiple origins in a single request.

First Person Map View in iOS

I am currently developing an iOS app using Objective-C and I came across with a requirement from my client that I am unsure and unaware if it can be made.
The app that I am working with is Map based using the geolocalization of the user at all times. To do so, as I am sure you all know, I am using the MapKit.framework that Apple gives us pre-built.
My doubt came when my client asked me if it’s possible to use the First Person Maps View instead of the traditional 2D Map. To make my question clear to you, what I was exactly asked if there is any chance to use the same view of the GPS navigation in the app (See picture below). Is there any way to do so? If so, could you give me some guides to achive that?

Indoor navigation (MapBox perhaps?)

Good day,
I was wondering, is it possible to create "indoor" maps with Mapbox for iOS (or does anyone have another suggestion)? I have a PDF of an indoor floor plan. I think I need to convert that to the MBTiles ( http://mapbox.com/developers/mbtiles/ ) format. How could I acchieve this?
Allso, when drawning the "walking route" for the person to certain facilities in the building. "it" should know where the person could walk.
Currently I am trying to create something with CATiledLayers (but I am kinda stuck (I can display the map, using "a tile" format.) and was looking and MapBox might be usefull since it has things like 'drawning' vectors on the map, or icons with information and such. For the walking directions I was thinkin about 'dotting' the walking routes so "Dijkstra's" algorithm" could determine the path. How could I go about this in Mabbox, even if possible?
Any help in the right directions would be greatly appreciated.

You can likely do this with MapBox. In order to get an image or PDF into MBTiles format, you will want to use TileMill. You basically need to get your imagery into a geographic format. The easiest way would be to export the PDF as a TIFF, then make it a GeoTIFF and follow these instructions. That will let you geo-enable the imagery, get it into TileMill, then export it as MBTiles. Then, you could use the MapBox iOS SDK to bring it to iOS.
You could use a service such as indoor.io to generate the maps. There are a bunch of indoor services out there and more coming on the market.

Change map colors in iOS MapView?

Is it possible to change map element colors in a MapView in the same way that you can with a Google Map? If so, how would I go about doing this.
I'm looking to change map element colors pretty substantially, so I don't think that adding an Annotation as described here is the right solution.
As an example, http://geo.rkn.la has a map that is skinned to be grayscale, and Google has documentation of how to do this for web maps here.
I gave CloudMade a try, and it wound up working reasonably well, but I decided against using them for two reasons:
1) Their support sucks. I shot an email to their support address about a week or two ago and have still not received any kind of response. Their most recent SVN commit is also close to a year old.
2) This issue raised on the Route Me repo, combined with their shoddy support, scared me away.
I did manage to find an SDK called MapBox that is also built on Route Me that was suitable for the task. Their git repo is in active development and they are available on freenode during normal business hours. I'd recommend them over CloudMade to anyone who has the same question I had initially.
It's not possible using UIMapKit.
I have used CloudMade before, which enable you to customise map colours quite extensively. As far as I know their maps use OpenStreetMap data.
No, it is not possible with the current MapKit.
Any substantial update like the one you describe would have to be performed when requesting tiles from Google, and at the moment only Apple does this, deep in the framework.
