I have integrated Firebase messaging with my IOS application. I am using Firebase to send push notifications. I want to change the default notification sound to a custom one that I ahem made. I have tried a few things and nothing seems to work. I cannot find any online resources, please help. Here is my code:

var window: UIWindow?

// Override point for customization after application launch.

// For iOS 10 display notification (sent via APNS)

completionHandler: {_, _ in })
} else {

So basically I am using firebase for a couple of things in my app, and decided to try add notifications using the Firebase cloud messaging feature. So I tried adding it, and did not manage, in the end I used this videoenter link description here and the second part. After adding it it worked perfectly, I managed to use the firebase console to send notifications, but only when the user is not in the actual app, so I added .alert in the completionHandler([]), as shown in the video. It did not work, and suddenly the notifications stopped working at all. I tried reverting the change, but the notifications still stopped working. I tried opening the old version of the app and adding the cloud messaging feature again but it did not work anymore. Any idea what might be causing that? Has anyone experienced something similar?

I followed the steps and created an APN key and uploaded it, however it doesn't seem to recognize my app whenever i try to send a message through the cloud messaging part of firebase it says (0% of potential users are eligible for this campaign: 0). This is my entire app delegate file.My app can access the database and retrieve data just fine it's just the cloud messaging part.

I had the same problem(Xcode-11.3.1)
I'm using the sample code very long time. There was no problem. I could see the token in log. as usual.
I used it again last day. I sent a notification and I saw it was successfully but I couldn't receive it with the device.
I added Capability -> Push Notifications and Capability -> Background Modes -> Remote Notifications(check)
I created APN key and all certificates but it didn't matter.
Then I updated Xcode(11.4.1). It is working now. I wrote to explain that the problem is not code or certificate.
func application(_ application: UIApplication, didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken deviceToken: Data) {
print("APNs token retrieved: \(deviceToken)")
}
This function is important. If you can see this output, you can receive notification successfully:
APNs token retrieved: 32 bytes
So I have been trying to figure this out for a while I have followed the set up guide a few times and I can't even get the push notifications sent form the firebase console to show up. I have Phone Auth set up and working, which required push notifications and APN set up, same as FCM. Here is my AppDelegate file:

In firebase's setting its looks like this:
For FCM, you don't need to use InstanceID and FirabaseAuth and without that I am able use send APNS programmatically from my application to subscribed topic
My pod contains only
pod 'Firebase/Messaging'
Working code is given below :
//MARK:- Push Notification
func application(_ application: UIApplication, didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken deviceToken: Data) {
// Register.
let deviceTokenString = deviceToken.reduce("", {$0 + String(format: "%02X", $1)})
print("deviceTokenString: \(deviceTokenString)")
self.apnsToken = deviceTokenString
//set apns token in messaging
Messaging.messaging().apnsToken = deviceToken
//get FCM token
if let token = Messaging.messaging().fcmToken {
self.fcmToken = token
print("FCM token: \(token)")
}
//subscribe to topic to send message to multiple device
self.subscribeToTopic()
}
Send APNS to all devices programatically through topic like given below :
func sendPushMessage(todoItem:TodoItem, isAdded:Bool = true) {
let url = URL(string: "https://fcm.googleapis.com/fcm/send")!
var request = URLRequest(url: url)
request.httpMethod = "POST"

let strKey:String = "Here FCM Server Key"
request.setValue("key=\(strKey)", forHTTPHeaderField: "Authorization")
var message:String = ""
if isAdded {
message = "Todo with title '\(todoItem.title)' added"
}
else{

}

After reading a lot of answers I'm posting this here because my issue is still unknown to me. If I send notification from firebase console I get the notification but if I go to my app backend and perform a function which generates notification according to the backend guy I am not getting notifications. The android developer is getting the notification.
So as I've no knowledge which information might be of use I'm pasting my AppDelegate.swift class here:
import UIKit
import UserNotifications
import GoogleMaps
import Firebase
#UIApplicationMain
class AppDelegate: UIResponder, UIApplicationDelegate {
var window: UIWindow?
let gcmMessageIDKey = "gcm.message_id"
func application(_ application: UIApplication,
didFinishLaunchingWithOptions launchOptions: [UIApplicationLaunchOptionsKey: Any]?) -> Bool {
UITabBar.appearance().tintColor = UIColor.white
UITabBarItem.appearance().setTitleTextAttributes([NSAttributedStringKey.foregroundColor: UIColor.lightGray], for:.normal)
UITabBarItem.appearance().setTitleTextAttributes([NSAttributedStringKey.foregroundColor: UIColor.black], for:.selected)
GMSServices.provideAPIKey("My_GOOGLE_MAP_ID_HERE")

If I send them from firebase console I get them. But if the backend of the app generates a notification I'm not getting it. As per Firebase documentation if the backend guy has the FCM he's good to go to send the notification and he has the correct FCM I've checked that too.
Upon explaining this scenerio he told me that the same was happening for the android guy before (firebase notification is received but notifications from server are not) and then it turns out the issue was at android guy end. He was not presenting notifications when he was receiving one, so as per his words the issue is at my end that I'm not presenting the notification when I'm getting it (which I'm not receiving from server because when I get it from firebase it displays on lock screen). Also is there any certificate that he need to implement in order for that? Because I've a certificate which I've uploaded on firebase.
This is the payload:

I think it is due to the structure of the notification, at least if I understand the question. I had the same problem once, the back-end guys were arguing that it is working on Android. But it is covered in the documentation.
Structure should look like described here
"notification" : {
"body" : "great match!",
"title" : "Portugal vs. Denmark"
}
Whatever they put in data will still be received, but will not be used to present notification(on Android it will present). There is no need for extracting anything just tell the backend guys to add this for you.

Before you send notification, please make sure that you have added "content_available" : true in the JSON payload. Otherwise you won't get push notification in the background mode.
"notification" : {
"content_available" : true,
"body" : "this is body",
"title" : "this is title"

// 3

})
}
upload your certificate or p8 file again on firebase console.
I've added Firebase notifications to my Android and iOS app. I send custom data to topics with a php script. The Android app receives messages from the php script and messages from the web interface from Firebase.
The iOS app doesn't receive messages from the php, BUT from the webinterface (sent to the reg-token of my iPad or to the topic).
I can see the current reg token in the console and the message ID from the sent message from the web interface, but nothing happens if I send from php.
The issue: the iOS app doesn't receive the message my php send to a topic. But it works if I send form the web interface, so my iPad should be subscribed successfully...
Please let me know if you need any kind of example code.
Maybe someone has an idea for me how I can solve this annoying issue.
