Label cut off on Table View Cell - ios

The top and bottom text label for my tableView cell appears to be cutting off. It is not clipped in the Xcode preview or the storyboard view. How do I make the labels extend to fill the entire row?
I am using a stack view that contains the file name and file size labels.

There are a couple of "potential solutions":
set your constraints (especially the height constraint of the label) correctly
set your cell height correctly. (You probably want to use automatic height)
The layout would be broken if you didn't match these 2 conditions.

Maybe you just forgot to set tableView.estimatedRowHeight = ...

Increase the height of label then it will look what you are expected size of the Label.

Swift dynamic table text goes outside cell width

i just created a uitable view with dynamic cells, and as you can see with the insets, the cells have a correct width. But as shown on the image, the label goes out of the screen. I've set truncate tail, fixed font size... I can't manage to get this text truncated.
Should i do it programatically when creating the cell.text.value?
Help is very much appreciated here.
You might not have set frame in LayoutSubviews(). Initially when tableviewcell loads it always gives same width value but when layoutSubviews gets called it gives correct frame.
If you have done it in storyboard then you might have given hardcoded value.
Use Custom TableViewCell's
You can design the way you want and also you can set label/title width height font etc easily .
Make sure you register your tableview cell in viewdidload() or else it will crash
Here are two stack views, each with the same content - the text of the top label is this is a really long label that will extend past the right edge
The top one does not have a Trailing constraint.
The bottom one does have a Trailing constraint of 8.
That really looks like the issue you are running into.
Solved the issue. Initially i had dropped a table view inside the view controller and set the prototype cell to 1 in IBinspector. For an unknown reason, the constraints were not working. Ended up setting protoype cells to 0 and dropping a new table view cell from the object library.
That did the trick.

Scrollview doesn't scroll with multiline label in it

I have a multiline label inside a scrollview. I set up the content size, let's say to scrollView.contentSize.height = 2000
But the view doesn't scroll. There is barely any code in the project. What is going wrong?
The only thing is that I don't have constrain for the height of the label, because it will vary depending on the length of text.
It doesn't matter about the height. But what does matter is that you need to pin it to the bottom of the scroll view also.
By pinning it on the top and bottom it will use the label to set the content size and so allow it to scroll.
I suggest to add a UITableView instead of UIScrollView, adding one UITableViewcell that contains a UILabel. By setting the appropriate values of:
Label's constraints.
tableView's rowHeight.
tableView's estimatedRowHeight.
It should works fine for your case.
For more Information about setting a dynamic cell height, you might want to check this answer.
Hope that helped.

Set the position of a label within a cell in tableview

I have created a tableview with dynamic cells. I have added a label in a cell.
The label is always placed in centre of the cell.
I don't want it to be dynamically placed when I adjust the height of the row.
I would like to place the label 20px under the top of the cell.
How can I do this?
You can set constraints like top, leading, trailing and fixed height to that label if you are using autolayout.
Put your label in cell with 20 pixel of distance from top and then set constraints or pin constraints as mentioned above.
Hope this will help :)
Use Auto Layouts in your StoryBoard. Like these
You have to setup all the constraints in the storyboard to make it work properly.
If you use autolayout, set constraint.
Select label and Drag to upper of label by pushing control.
When popup appears, push option key.
Click "Top Space to Container"
enter image description here
Select label and look into size inspector. Modify constant value of "Top Space To" constraint to 20.
enter image description here
If using Auto Layouts, give these 4 constraints, it will work.
Drop the label on custom cell where exactly you want, give top space, tailing and leading and also a fixed height.

How do I change cell height according to its content?

I have a Detail View Controller, which has different text lengths according to which cell you press in the Main View Controller, of which it segues to. How do I set the cell's height according to how much content is in it?
FYI, the cell consists of 3 labels and 1 image view. It is vertically set as UILabel, UIImageView, UILabel, UILabel.
I am using Swift.
This is what happens when I add the auto-layout constraints:
The way to do it is to use auto-layout. You need to set up vertical constraints from the top to the bottom of your cell:
Distance between the top edge of the cell and the top edge of the first label.
Distance from the bottom edge of the first label to the top edge of the image view.
Distance from the bottom edge of the image view to the top edge of the second label.
and so on ...
Auto-layout will take care of sizing the cell depending on the size of the content you put in your labels and the image view.
You should also remember to set the estimatedRowHeight property on your table view to some meaningful value. This will help the table view defer some of the calculations of the content size to when the user starts to scroll.
Also, set the rowHeight property on your table view to UITableViewAutomaticDimension.
There are 4 things you'll need to do:
Set your tableView:heightForRowAtIndexPath method to return UITableViewAutomaticDimension.
Set your tableView:estimatedHeightForRowAtIndexPath to return the average height of the cells. You can set it to something static like 100.
Set your Auto Layout constraints so that all subviews are tied to each other vertically, and the top-most and bottom-most views are tied up to the cell's contentView.
Set the label's preferredMaxLayoutWidth property either in code or in your Storyboard to be equal to the label's width.
To fix this, I added the sizeToFit() property to my label.

TableViewCell with multiple columns

I have an application in which I want to have a tableView with custom tableViewCell that has five columns.
I want them to be like 20%, 30%, 15%, 20% and 15% of the whole cell's width, because I want my application to launch on iPhone and iPad.
What is the best way to do this?
Now I have created a tableViewCell prototype with 5 labels. I also added constraints to them but the width constraint is just a constant. Also when I added width constraints to labels, some collisions appeared there and I don't know how to fix them.
Here is a screenshot.
You can create table view cell with collection view. By that, you can get different part in cell as well as you can change each column width programmatically based on your needs.
Thanks
A table view has only one column and allows vertical scrolling only. link
If you want to use a few columns, you can use UICollectionViewController
I also added constraints to them but the width constraint is just a constant. Also when I added width constraints to labels, some collisions appeared there and I don't know how to fix them
To fix it change width constraints to be a multiplier of superview width.
