I have a form with 10,000 plus check boxes with each check box have a numeric value like 8757857,8755854. When I submit the form i can see the whole data is going correctly to the backend in the network but if I check in my action class I get less values (only receiving somewhere around 9900 records).
I have tried receiving it in a List and String in the Action, but its same for both.
I have tried this issue in 3 machines and the same thing is happening.
I want to know whether it's struts 2 or any other struts 2 interceptor which is truncating the values?
Paaji, Try looking into code of Check box Interceptor in Struts2. Might be you get something there.

If I navigate to /rest/api/2/issue/createmeta/PROJ/issuetype/N (in this case, I'm getting Task), the list of fields returned is incomplete. There are a number of customfields that are in use (I can see them both in the tickets themselves, and also in /plugins/servlet/project-config/PROJ/fields ) that are in the createmeta data.
I'm really trying to do this in python jira, where I'm using "expand='projects.issuetypes.fields'" in the createmeta() call, but I figured I'd double-check the results in the rest API directly, and I'm getting the same results there, too.
This is happening in jira 8.20.7.
Essentially, what I'm trying to do, is to programatically get a name/id mapping of all fields in the ticket type. I'm having far more difficulty doing that than I thought there would be. I would do it based on /rest/api/2/field but the jira admins have allowed some duplicated names...
EDIT: I realized that it might be worth noting that some of the fields I'm looking for are coming from a ServiceDesk form, although, as far as I can tell, there's no way to determine that, since one of the missing fields contains the name of the form.
Why are you using createmeta endpoint?
Instead of that, in order to get all of the customfields and their values; just note their id and get the values from /rest/api/2/issue/{issueKey} endpoint.
When you send a GET request to /rest/api/2/issue/{issueKey} endpoint, you will get a JSON object which contains "fields" object in it.
And using the "fields" you can determine all of the values that include system fields (description, assignee, etc.) and custom fields (like customfield_<customfieldid>).
And for a general approach, you may want to look at the field types in that response.
I've read everything I can on forms and such and they never seem to work the way I want them to.
As a work around, I'm trying to pass a series of parameters to my controller via remote: true and javascript. I've got a solid foundation working.
I can't think of a proper way to explain this without getting too crazy, so I'll just explain what I am doing.
Goal-
I have a FlashCard model going. The flash cards each have: Title, lines(7) and a body. The body is represented as the back of the card. The front of the card consists of the title and 7 lines. Each line can be written on individually and optionally centered. The card can be formatted as either read or write. Obviously read is a read-only and write gives you the ability to change whether or not each line is centered, and change/add the text on the title, each line, and the body.
Now. I probably chose a bad way to do this, but it's how I chose to do it. I have an affinity towards arrays so I tend to use those when in doubt.
My flash card model has title:string, line:string as array, and body:text.
The line is formatted as follows: [["",0],["",0],["",0],["",0],["",0],["",0],["",0]]
The strings are the string on each line and the 0's can be either 0 or 1, as false and true- representing whether or not the text on that line is centered.
As far as displaying all of this, I have it working just fine. However- actually saving the data is proving to be a problem. Forms are not working out for me because of the line array/attribute. I don't mind doing the logic myself without the form, but I need a way to pass the data from the text_fields to the controller to save them.
Hopefully that makes sense. If not- I will happily add in the code I have used to get to where I am and more specifically show where I am having problems.
Optimally, I would like to simply pass the strings from multiple text_fields as separate parameters to the controller. If necessary to go back and entirely redo the model, I will do so if it will work as long as I can get the same functionality.
Thanks in advance for the help!
I needed to create a input mask for a jQuery datepicker in my Rails app, where the first form field uses m/d/yy format and the datepicker populates a hidden input with the proper database format.
I was using SimpleForm, and so I extended my own input so that the input is preceded by the mask.
I got everything set up and when checking out the browser, it all just worked well before I thought I would be done.
The form ends up with two inputs for the same attribute, each with the same id and name. I never thought this would work. Checking the development log I only see one date getting submitted, the second of the two which is the one that has the proper format for the database.
Is this all okay? Should I take some extra steps even though this appears to work fine, and more importantly, can someone explain what's going on under the hood that results in this behavior?
Thanks!!
Rails uses the Hash params to store fields submitted. When you declare two or more inputs using the same name, it happens the same as if you do something like
h=Hash.new
h[:name]="foo"
h[:name]="bar"
Result is bar because the foo was overwritten. So the "winner" is always the field value which the browser last appended to postdata.
But if I where you, I would not rely on the browser that the second field gets appended at last.
Im trying to integrate a content filtering API. My plan was to use pre/post validators but I've lost may way somehow.
What i need to do is send the values to the content filtering service. If the response comes back that the content has been filtered it will also return a modified value for the field (basic profanity filtering... matches are replace with asterisks). Thats all well and good i can throw validation errors no problem - simple stuff.
However i dont want just throw errors. What needs to happen is that validation errors are thrown as normal, but the values are modified in the form for re-display.
Basically if someone posts something naughty i want them to get a validation error saying their post has been modified, they can re-submit the now "clean" post, or they can go about editing it to make it clean without the word replacements.
But do clean on a validator either throws an error OR returns cleaned values, not both. How can i go about implementing both? This will be used on many different forms with many different field names, so modifying methods on the form or a form base class isnt really an option - it needs to happen in the validation sub-framework somehow.
You can adjust this plugin for your needs http://www.symfony-project.org/plugins/WebPurifyPlugin
Question using Grails 1.3.4 - the 'scale' constraint does not seem to keep my decimals.
I have a field defined as: Float latitude
I have a constraint: latitude(blank: false, range:-360.0f..360.0f, scale:6)
The Oracle 10g field is defined as: NUMBER(10,6)
When I enter a value in Create or Edit, the correct value gets to the database. However, it never displays correctly in Show. If I enter 10.1234567 and update, 10.123457 is in the database but 10.123 displays in Show.
If I Edit, the value shows as 10.123, and if I update without modifying it, 10.123 will be stored in the database, replacing 10.123457 even though I never touched that field.
If I edit the value to 10.456789, but leave another required field blank, the resulting Edit screen with the error message displays the value as 10.457.
Why is Grails continually rounding the value to 3 digits? I tried the field as a Double as well, but same results. I thought maybe it was Oracle, but I tried it with the default dev database, and same result. I thought maybe it was the 'range', but I took that off with the same result.
Hmm - are you sure it's displaying correctly in your database viewer? Also - check your use of tags: See http://www.pubbs.net/200908/grails/38057-grails-user-how-does-rounding-of-decimals-work-in-gsp.html
Wasted too much time trying to figure this out, ended up using the solution suggested by snowmanjack.
The default data binding that occurs with the fieldValue call is truncating it. You can write a new data binder that handles conversion the way you want as described here http://grails.org/doc/latest/guide/single.html#dataBinding
Or you can do the lazy, probably less safe method that I used and access the property directly.
I replaced.
${fieldValue(bean: countryInstance, field: "latitude")}
with
${contryInstance.latitude}
