change vertical lines position in column chart - highcharts

I have a table which im trying to convert to a highchart column chart and im having a small issue with the setting the vertical lines.
i want place it in between each set of column blocks. Please check the image
<table id="datatable">
<thead>
<tr>
<th></th>
<th>Daily Sales</th>
<th>Average</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<th>2000</th>
<td>100</td>
<td>200</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<th>2005</th>
<td>245</td>
<td>300</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<th>2010</th>
<td>10</td>
<td>500</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
And in my highcharts code
$('#chart').highcharts({
data: {
table: 'datatable'
},
exporting: { enabled: false },
chart: {
type: 'column',
},
title: {
text: ''
},
labels: {
format: '{value}'
},
yAxis: {
allowDecimals: false,
title: {
text: 'Chart'
}
},
xAxis: {
gridLineWidth: 1,
gridLineColor: '#000',
lineColor: '#000',
lineWidth: 1,
crosshair: true,
},
colors: [
'#990000',
'#993399',
],
legend: {
align: 'left',
verticalAlign: 'top',
},
linearGradient: {
x1: 0,
y1: 0,
x2: 1,
y2: 0
},
},
});
});
Any help will be appreciated

You should set 'between' value for the tickmarkPlacement parameter, whiich works only with categories.
xAxis: {
type: 'category',
gridLineWidth: 1,
tickmarkPlacement: 'between'
}

How do I change the style of the frame lines in a radar(polar) chart created with highcharts?

I am looking for settings to change some of the frame-lines in the radar chart.
There are 3 types of lines I'd like to be customized:
The red triangle line outside.
The 3 blue lines from center to each corner.
The small green triangle.
I've searched a lot but totally had no clue. I have tried to change the lineWidth of the yAxis and it only changes the width of the upper vertical line.
Here below is the code. It uses the latest highcharts to render the chart, as of Sep 12 2021 when I'm writing this question, it's 9.2.2:
window.chart = Highcharts.chart('container', {
chart: {
plotBackgroundColor: null,
plotBorderWidth: null,
plotShadow: false,
polar: true,
type: 'area'
},
title: {
text: "radar chart title",
margin:33,
useHTML:true
},
tooltip: {
pointFormat: '<span style="color:{series.color}"><b>{point.y:,.0f}</b>'
},
plotOptions: {
animation:true
},
xAxis: {
categories: ["a","b","c"],
tickmarkPlacement: 'on',
lineWidth: 0
},
yAxis: {
gridLineInterpolation: 'polygon',
lineWidth: 4,
min: 0,
max:100
},
legend: {
enabled: false
},
credits: {
enabled: false
},
series: [{
name: "Haha",
animation:true,
data: [52,119, 12],
lineWidth:4
}]
});

<div id="container" style="height: 400px"></div>
Use plot lines for y-axis:
yAxis: {
...
plotLines: [{
color: 'red',
value: 100,
zIndex: 2
}]
}
Use gridLineColor for x-axis:
xAxis: {
...,
gridLineColor: 'blue'
}
Use gridLineColor for y-axis:
yAxis: {
gridLineColor: 'green',
...
}

Highchart - how to control gap between series

In Highcharts, how do I control the gaps between categories?
I've highlighted the area I am talking about in blue below:
I want to make my highchart chart gaps look like this powerpoint version on the left below. The bars in PowerPoint go all the way to the end of the plot area, but highcharts have this big gap.
https://jsfiddle.net/15u0r64s/
Highcharts.chart('container', {
chart: {
type: 'bar'
},
title: {
text: 'Historic World Population by Region'
},
subtitle: {
text: 'Source: Wikipedia.org'
},
xAxis: {
categories: ['Total', 'Male', 'Female', 'Other'],
title: {
text: null
}
},
yAxis: {
min: 0,
title: {
text: 'Population (millions)',
align: 'high'
},
labels: {
overflow: 'justify'
}
},
tooltip: {
valueSuffix: ' millions'
},
plotOptions: {
bar: {
dataLabels: {
enabled: true
}
}
},
legend: {
layout: 'vertical',
align: 'right',
verticalAlign: 'top',
x: -40,
y: 80,
floating: true,
borderWidth: 1,
backgroundColor:
Highcharts.defaultOptions.legend.backgroundColor || '#FFFFFF',
shadow: true
},
credits: {
enabled: false
},
series: [{
name: 'Total',
data: [10, 20, 31, '']
}, {
name: 'Male',
data: [10, 20, 60, 2]
}, {
name: 'Female',
data: [10, 20, 61, '']
}, {
name: 'Other',
data: [10, 20, 65, 4]
}]
});
You need to edit groupPadding and pointPadding properties:
plotOptions: {
bar: {
groupPadding: 0.05,
pointPadding: 0
}
}

Highcharts how to add an extra value to a bar

The goal is to make a bar chart like this one in the picture showing the values in percentage but also in MillionTonnes:
The bars are representing the percentage value. The value of the million tonnes is just extra information. Both values can go at the end of the bar and the percentage should appear first and then the Million Tonnes value. Something like:
49% (49.6 Million Tonnes). How can I make this two values appear at the end of the bar? This is the code I have. TIA
Highcharts.chart('grafica1', {
chart: {
type: 'column',
inverted: true,
plotBackgroundColor: null,
plotBorderWidth: 0,
plotShadow: false
},
title: {
text: ' '
},

type: 'category',
labels: {
useHTML: true
}
},
yAxis: {
min: 0,
max: 100,
title: {
text: null,
},
labels: {

}
},

},

},

format: '({point.y:.1f} Million tones)%'
}
}

},

When using the stacking option (Doc) it's possible.

var chart = new Highcharts.Chart(options);
});
});
$(document).ready(function() {
var options = {

</head>
<body>
<table>
<tr>
<td><div id="container1" style="width: 300px; height: 300px; margin: 0 auto"></div></td>
<td><div id="container2" style="width: 300px; height: 300px; margin: 0 auto"></div></td>
</tr>
</table>
</body>
</html>
But how can i merge two heat map into one plot sharing same x-axis.
Try doing multiple y axis in same pane like this
yAxis: [
{
opposite : false,
title: {
text: 'HeatMap1'
},
top: 0
},{
opposite : false,
title: {
text: 'HeatMap2'
},
top: 30
}]

How to render a bar chart with different series with only one entry per category in HighCharts

I have a chart with to series of data for a bunch of categories, every category only have values for one of the series:
The problem is that the bars don't start in the center of the category but on the begin or end, depending if its in first or the second series.
Is there a way to start the bar in center?
Example: http://jsfiddle.net/ms1kfrox/
Chart settings:
{
chart: {
type: 'bar'
},
xAxis: {
categories: ['A', 'B', 'C', 'D', 'E'],
title: {
text: null
}
},
yAxis: {
min: 0,
title: {
text: 'Population (millions)',
align: 'high'
},
labels: {
overflow: 'justify'
}
},
tooltip: {
valueSuffix: ' millions'
},
plotOptions: {
bar: {
dataLabels: {
padding: 0,
enabled: true
}
}
},
legend: {
layout: 'vertical',
align: 'right',
verticalAlign: 'top',
x: -40,
y: 100,
floating: true,
borderWidth: 1,
backgroundColor: ((Highcharts.theme && Highcharts.theme.legendBackgroundColor) || '#FFFFFF'),
shadow: true
},
credits: {
enabled: false
},
series: [{
name: 'Type1',
data: [null, {
y: 870
},
null, {
y: 408
},
null
]
}, {
name: 'Type2',
data: [{
y: 973
},
null, {
y: 680
},
null, {
y: 34
}
]
}]
}
You can set grouping:false in plotOptions / bar object.
