I am working with Select2 library (version 4.0.1), but I have strange position of the dropdown of the select. You can see on the image below.
You can see that select2 dropdown overlaps the select area and I can see in the example in the documentation that it should appear at the bottom of the select. Here is my code
<select class="select2">
<option>--Select--</option>
<option>Sample Page</option>
</select>
<script>
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
jQuery('.select2').select2();
});
</script>
Any ideas why this is happening?
In the select2 initialization, add the parent element.
If you are using a jquery modal, do not use the modal ID alone, go a level deeper and keep it as dropdownParent, else it will take the whole screen as its position relatively.
var dropdownParentEl = $('#addModal > .modal-dialog > .modal-content')
selectBoxElem.select2({
dropdownParent: dropdownParentEl,
})
I want my dropdown to be relative within the modal-content, so i kept it as my parent, you change according to its requirement.

In my project we are using a uib-typeahead to help our users populate document fields. It is working for us just fine except when the uib-typeahead is embedded inside an angular modal component created by angular-aside. When the content for the drop-down is greater than its viewport, a vertical scrollbar appears. Used outside of a modal a user may select the scrollbar and move it up and down (our desired behaviour), but used within a modal selecting the scrollbar causes the drop-down to be dismissed and the entry at the position of the mouse becomes the chosen element (not our desired behaviour).
<input type="text"
ng-model="selectedName"
uib-typeahead="name for name in names"
typeahead-select-on-blur="true" />
Using the plunkr from the dbtek/angular-aside, I've reproduced this issue in the following plunkr:
https://plnkr.co/edit/Dbth9bfshC5iEFSzqz68?p=preview
I've attempted to modify the z-index of the ul element to be greater than the z-index value of the modal, but that did not resolve the issue.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
How can I adjust the position of Select2 container so that the search box is position right over the original select element like in this website
http://www.jobnisit.com/en
It look cleaner in terms of UI in my opinion.
Ps. sorry, I can't post the image now.
There is 2 ways to do this.
1) With css:
.select2-dropdown--below {
top: -2.8rem; /*your input height*/
}
This will not affect a container (.select2-container), but will move dropdown and search field, so you will have a desired effect.
2) With js:
$('select').select2().on('select2:open', function() {
var container = .$('.select2-container').last();
/*Add some css-class to container or reposition it*/
});
This code attaches a handler to 'select2:open' event, which will be fired every time when user opens a dropdown. This method is better if you have more than one select on page.
Tested with select2 4.0.0
The proper way of positioning the dropdown is using the core feature provided by select2 plugin.
It provides us with 'dropdownParent' property to place to dropdown inside the particular element
select field: #edit-field-job-skillsets-tid
parent item: div.form-item-field-job-skillsets-tid
jQuery("#edit-field-job-skillsets-tid").select2(
{dropdownParent: jQuery('div.form-item-field-job-skillsets-tid')}
);
I have a need to capture an event (like a click) on a object that is elsewhere on the page and not a child of the select2 object while the select2 object has focus and is showing results. When the select2 results object is focused, I cannot click on a button/anchor elsewhere on the page and have it perform its action. It merely closes the select2 object.
Is there a way to do this? Here is a demo that shows this behavior: http://codepen.io/anon/pen/JoJobW
<!-- Javascript snippet -->
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#e1").select2();
$("#e2").click(function(){
alert("click!");
e.preventDefault();
});
});
<!-- HTML snippet -->
<select id="e1"></select>
Click here when select2 is focused
Using select2 v3.5.2 and jQuery 1.11.0
Select2 places a "mask" element behind the drop-down that captures the mouse click. Others have complained about this.
Here is a jsfiddle that shows the mask element.
You could try to remove the mask element when the drop-down is opened.
$('#e1').select2().on('select2-open', function() {
$('.select2-drop-mask').remove();
});
Of course, this means the drop-down will not close when the user clicks off of it, but you could add an event handler on the document (or body) to do that.
$(document).click(function() {
$("#e1").select2('close');
});
You have to make sure the click event on the other element does not propagate to the document in that case.
$('#e2').click(function() {
alert('click!');
return false; // Prevent default action and stop propagation.
});

I've been trying to create an horizontal radiobutton horizontal list, but somehow I don't get the same visual result as when done with the data-* attributes.
If I do it with code I get squared buttons, while using the attributes I get a nice rounded corner toolbar.
Here is the code I use for creating the button list:
$(element).controlgroup({ mini: true, type: "horizontal" });
which should be the same as the one I use with the data-* attributes:
<fieldset data-role="controlgroup" data-type="horizontal" data-mini="true">
I've posted a jsfiddle to show the result
http://jsfiddle.net/simonech/zeDt4/3/
Can someone shad some light on this strange behavior?
Thx
Simone
To make them look the same, try this:
$("#mycontrolbox").controlgroup({ mini: true, type: "horizontal"});
$("#mycontrolbox").attr("data-role", "controlgroup");
updated jsFiddle - http://jsfiddle.net/zeDt4/4/
Now, why is this.
I think that jQuery mobile is actually not build upon jQuery UI even though it is currently very close. jQuery mobile is using those data-** attributes to select what is going to be a role of each tag. When the element is added to the html, jqm reads the content and based on what is in these data-role attributes, it decorates / replaces / the current content with its own. This is more about what is done to the element in order how it looks.
On the other hand, when you call
$("#mycontrolbox").controlgroup();
This does create a jQuery component allowing you to use the methods of that component. etc.
This is close to how the component behaves from the script point of view. This does not, however, add data-role attribute to the element itself.
I'm having a little trouble dynamically changing a button's theme dynamically. From a different post I learned to use:
<input type="button" data-inline="true" data-mini="true" data-theme="c" id="my-button" value="Save">
<script>
$("#my-button").buttonMarkup({ theme: 'a' }).button('refresh');
</script>
Technically this works, until I mouse over - then the button falls back to data-theme "c". Is there a better way to dynamically change theme?
if you use a button as below
Save2
You can change the theme as below
$('#my-button2').attr("data-theme", "c").removeClass("ui-btn-up-e").addClass("ui-btn-up-c");
check out a live fiddle here http://jsfiddle.net/mayooresan/jfDLU/
I tried to find the answer for this one, but came up with this solution after looking into the DOM structure. I created the below function for toggling the theme on click the button. the hover class needs to be addressed only when changing the theme of the same button you are clicking.
These seems to work for input type button element. (jqm version 1.3.2)
function changeButtonTheme(buttonSelector,toTheme){
var currentTheme = $(buttonSelector).attr('data-theme');
var parent = $(buttonSelector).parent();
$(buttonSelector).attr("data-theme", toTheme).removeClass("ui-btn-up-"+currentTheme).addClass("ui-btn-up-"+toTheme);
parent.attr("data-theme", toTheme).removeClass("ui-btn-up-"+currentTheme).addClass("ui-btn-up-"+toTheme);
//parent.removeClass("ui-btn-hover-"+currentTheme).addClass("ui-btn-hover-"+toTheme);
}
