I want to play video on clicking a button. My AVPlayerViewController is open but not playing an video .Please help.
- (IBAction)btnPlay_Click:(id)sender {
NSURL *videoURL = [NSURL URLWithString:#"https://player.vimeo.com/video/143506410"];
AVPlayer *player = [AVPlayer playerWithURL:videoURL];
AVPlayerViewController *playerViewController = [AVPlayerViewController new];
playerViewController.player = player;
[self presentViewController:playerViewController animated:YES completion:nil];
}
If you are using vimeo video you can use third party tools which helps you load the vimeo video.
Solution 1: Please try this, It works for me, just some lines of code.
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
vimeoHelper = [[VimeoHelper alloc] init];
[vimeoHelper getVimeoRedirectUrlWithUrl:#"http://vimeo.com/52760742" delegate:(id)self];
}
- (void)finishedGetVimeoURL:(NSString *)url
{
_moviePlayerController = [[MPMoviePlayerViewController alloc] initWithContentURL:[NSURL URLWithString:url]];
[self presentViewController:_moviePlayerController animated:NO completion:nil];
}
Solution 2: YTVimeoExtractor
May be it will help you.
Use MPMoviePlayerController and add this line of code:
NSURL *videoURL = [NSURL URLWithString:#"https://player.vimeo.com/video/143506410"];
MPMoviePlayerViewController *player =[[MPMoviePlayerViewController alloc] initWithContentURL: videoURL];
[self.view addSubview: [player view]];
[self presentMoviePlayerViewControllerAnimated:player];
[player.moviePlayer prepareToPlay];
Add one more line : [self.view addSubview: [player view]];
movieController is an instance of MPMoviePlayerViewController declared in the .h file.
[movieController.moviePlayer play] is not required and the player will start regardless if you didn't set autoplay to NO, but I observed that if you put play in it it starts a bit quicker. This could be just a coincidence.
--------- If this is not working you can just do that following ----------
player = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:videoURL];
[player.view setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 320)];
[player play];
[self.view addSubview:player.view];

I am working on playing a recorded video recorded by AVCapture.I am saving the video URL in string named outputFileURL. I tried playing back the video using AVPlayerLayer concept. The code I used is
AVPlayer *avPlayerq = [AVPlayer playerWithURL:outputFileURL];
avPlayerq.actionAtItemEnd = AVPlayerActionAtItemEndNone;
AVPlayerLayer *videoLayer = [AVPlayerLayer playerLayerWithPlayer:avPlayerq];
videoLayer.frame= self.view.bounds;
[self.view.layer addSublayer:videoLayer];
[avPlayerq play];
But the video I am getting is not full screen.
Can anyone can help me to solve?
I added the following code and I am able to get the full screen.
videoLayer.videoGravity=AVLayerVideoGravityResizeAspectFill;
Hope this may help.
AVPlayer *player = [[AVPlayer alloc] initWithURL:url];
AVPlayerViewController *playerViewController = [AVPlayerViewController new]; playerViewController.delegate = self;
playerViewController.player = player;
[playerViewController.player play];
[self presentViewController:playerViewController animated:YES completion:nil];
Try This
Ok than you have to use MPMoviePlayerController
NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:#"Video_Intro" ofType:#"mov"];
moviePlayer = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc]initWithContentURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:path]];
moviePlayer.view.frame = ivVideoThumbnail.frame;
//moviePlayer.view.top += 20; // Add to fix 20 pixel diff of moviePlayer view
// Register this class as an observer instead.
[[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self
selector:#selector(movieFinishedCallback:)
name:MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification
object:moviePlayer];
[svIntro addSubview:moviePlayer.view];
moviePlayer.fullscreen = true;
[moviePlayer play];
Also implement Observer method
-(void)movieFinishedCallback:(id)mPlayer
{
[moviePlayer.view removeFromSuperview];
}
I want to play video in my UIView from the URL that i got from the JSON Response from server.
This is code that i wrote to play video but nothing happens.
NSURL *movieURL = [NSURL URLWithString:objAlbum.strVideoURL];
MPMoviePlayerController *moviePlayerController = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:movieURL];
[moviePlayerController.view setFrame:self.movieView.bounds];
[self.movieView addSubview:moviePlayerController.view];
// Configure the movie player controller
moviePlayerController.controlStyle = MPMovieControlStyleNone;
[moviePlayerController prepareToPlay];
[moviePlayerController play];
In strVideoURL i'm getting video url.
Check that URL has any spaces. Better to Add below line of code
NSURL *movieURL = [NSURL URLWithString:[objAlbum.strVideoURL stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:
NSUTF8StringEncoding]];
MPMoviePlayerController *moviePlayerController = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:movieURL];
[moviePlayerController.view setFrame:self.movieView.bounds];
// Configure the movie player controller
moviePlayerController.controlStyle = MPMovieControlStyleNone;
//[moviePlayerController prepareToPlay];
[moviePlayerController play];
[self.movieView addSubview:moviePlayerController.view];
Note: Print the movie URL and play using browser to check it is valid URL or not..!
Hope it helps you...!
i have solve this using following code
NSURL *vidURL = [[NSURL alloc]initWithString:objAlbum.strVideoURL];
self.movie = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc]initWithContentURL:vidURL];
self.movie.controlStyle = MPMovieControlStyleDefault;
self.movie.shouldAutoplay = YES;
[self.view addSubview:self.movie.view];
[self.movie setFullscreen:YES animated:YES];
but i want to open it now in UIView defined in TableViewCell like video open in FB(Facebook)
When i tried a video saved on the Xcode project , it worked.
then when i changed it with a url , it always returns this error :
_itemFailedToPlayToEnd: {
kind = 1;
new = 2;
old = 0;
}
Here's my code :
NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:#"https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9MNAeGWd_04"];
movieController = [[MoviePlayerVC alloc]initWithContentURL:url];
movieController.view.frame = self.view.bounds;
[movieController.moviePlayer setShouldAutoplay:YES];
[movieController.moviePlayer setControlStyle:MPMovieControlStyleFullscreen];
[[movieController view] setTransform:CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(M_PI / 2)];
[self presentViewController:movieController animated:NO completion:nil];
[[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self
selector:#selector(playbackStateDidChange:)
name:#"MPAVControllerPlaybackStateChangedNotification"
object:nil];
fileURLWithPath: expects a local path url - /User/blah/blah.mp3
Try to use [NSURL URLWithString:#"https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9MNAeGWd_04"]
IF YOU PLAY FROM URL THEN TRY THIS
-(void)playFromLiveUrl
{
NSURL *aUrl = [NSURL URLWithString:#"*YOUR URL*"];
_moviePlayer = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc]initWithContentURL:aUrl];
_moviePlayer.controlStyle = MPMovieControlStyleNone;
_moviePlayer.shouldAutoplay = YES;
_moviePlayer.view.frame = asyvideoImage.frame;
_moviePlayer.scalingMode=MPMovieScalingModeFill;
[self.view addsubview _moviePlayer.view];
[_moviePlayer prepareToPlay];
[_moviePlayer setFullscreen:NO animated:NO];
}
IF YOU ARE USE LOCAL FILE THEN USE THIS
-(void)playFromLocal
{
_moviePlayer = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:#"** LOCAL PATH ** "]];
_moviePlayer.controlStyle = MPMovieControlStyleNone;
_moviePlayer.shouldAutoplay = YES;
_moviePlayer.view.frame = asyvideoImage.frame;
_moviePlayer.scalingMode=MPMovieScalingModeFill;
[self.view addsubview _moviePlayer.view];
[_moviePlayer prepareToPlay];
[_moviePlayer setFullscreen:NO animated:NO];
}
The MPMoviewPlayerController Can't get your format. U r try to load the MPMoviePlayerController with youTube link, it won't work (as u can see :)
Here u can find the iPhone video format support.
Try to load your MoviePlayer something like this (for example .m3u8 format):
[movieController setContentURL:[NSURL URLWithString:#"http://devimages.apple.com/iphone/samples/bipbop/gear1/prog_index.m3u8"]];
MPMoviePlayerController cannot play a Flash Youtube URL. Use a web view instead. UIWebView on iOS is smart enough play youtube content.
You can see the video formats MPMoviePlayer and AVFoundation support here
Here i want to play videos from server using MediaPlayer framework. 1)I am adding mediaplayer framework. 2)I am importing #import header file 3)I implemented code by using google.
My Code is :
- (void)act_GoToVideoPlayer:(UIButton*)sender
{
NSString* resourcePath = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"http://%#",[postMediaFileArr objectAtIndex:sender.tag]]; //Video file URL is getting from server and stored it in a MutableArray
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString: resourcePath];
mediaplayer = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:[NSURL URLWithString:str]];
[mediaplayer.view setFrame:CGRectMake(20, 100, 250, 150)];
[self.view addSubview:mediaplayer.view];
mediaplayer.fullscreen = YES;
mediaplayer.allowsAirPlay = YES;
mediaplayer.shouldAutoplay = YES;
mediaplayer.controlStyle = MPMovieControlStyleEmbedded;
}
The view goes to blank screen and infinite loading when this function is called. I have tried many other versions of this implementation and the results are all fail. The log in the is particular case is:
_itemFailedToPlayToEnd: {
kind = 1;
new = 2;
old = 0;
}
If i passed any other videos from websites. it will be playing audios not videos.
Got ideas on the cause? This is my first venture into playing video and it has turned out to be a nightmare at this point.
-(void)notifyCompletelyVisible
{
NSURL *aUrl = [NSURL URLWithString:#"*YOUR URL*"];
_moviePlayer = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc]initWithContentURL:aUrl];
_moviePlayer.controlStyle = MPMovieControlStyleNone;
_moviePlayer.shouldAutoplay = YES;
_moviePlayer.view.frame = asyvideoImage.frame;
_moviePlayer.scalingMode=MPMovieScalingModeFill;
[self.view addsubview _moviePlayer.view];
[_moviePlayer prepareToPlay];
[_moviePlayer setFullscreen:NO animated:NO];
}
this is working just import
import "MediaPlayer/MediaPlayer.h"
you try in .h:
#import <MediaPlayer/MediaPlayer.h>
and you add delegate
interface YourViewcontroler : UIViewController <MPMediaPlayback>
{
MPMoviePlayerController *player;
}
and in your .m file:
-(void) launchVideo{
YourAppDelegate *appDelegate = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate];
NSString* myURL =#"http://yourUrl/file.mp4";
NSURL *urlString = [NSURL URLWithString:myURL];
player = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:urlString];
[player view].alpha=1;
[appDelegate.window.rootViewController.view addSubview:[player view]];
[player play];
}
and the delegate methode for finishing:
-(void)videoPlayBackDidFinish:(NSNotification*)notification {
[player.view removeFromSuperview];
[player stop];
player=nil;
[player release];
}
i hope this help you
I am a new developer, therefore I'm still learning and know I'm doing some things wrong. I have a segmented control object in which when the user presses one of the segments, it goes to play a video. I have it setup to where they press the segment, then have to press a play button to get the video to play. I want to cut out the play button and have it play automatically. This is where I'm having trouble. I found the shouldAutoplay option but when I use it and cut out the button, it won't take me to the video at all. I'm sure I'm not using the shouldAutoplay option correctly. Was hoping for some help or at least a point in the right direction.
- (IBAction)playMovie:(id)sender;
{
NSBundle *bundle = [NSBundle mainBundle];
NSString *moviePath = [bundle pathForResource:#"mytestimony" ofType:#"m4v"];
NSURL *movieURL = [[NSURL fileURLWithPath:moviePath] retain];
MPMoviePlayerController *theMovie = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:movieURL];
theMovie.shouldAutoplay = YES;
theMovie.scalingMode = MPMovieScalingModeAspectFill;
[theMovie autorelease];
MPMoviePlayerViewController *moviePlayer = [[MPMoviePlayerViewController alloc] initWithContentURL:movieURL];
[self presentMoviePlayerViewControllerAnimated:moviePlayer];
}
Have you tried [theMovie play];?
UPDATE: I just noticed you set shouldAutoplay in theMovie, but what you presented is another instance of MPMoviePlayerViewController, which is moviePlayer. That's why your movie did not autoplay. You should instead have:
[self presentMoviePlayerViewControllerAnimated:theMovie];
Don't play the video, just prepare it for playing and put the shouldAutoPlay as NO, because you don't want to video player to play it automatically.
-(void) SetVideoFile:(NSString *)fileName {
videoFileName=fileName;
moviePlayer = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:[NSURL URLWithString:fileName]];
moviePlayer.initialPlaybackTime = 0;
moviePlayer.view.frame = self.view.frame ;
[orientationHandler VideoStart];
[self.view addSubview:moviePlayer.view] ;
[[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self
selector:#selector(moviePlaybackDidFinish:)
name:MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification
object:moviePlayer];
moviePlayer.shouldAutoplay = NO;
[moviePlayer prepareToPlay];
}
-(void)moviePlaybackDidFinish:(NSNotification *)notification {
// your custom code which you want to play after the player did finish playing
}
