When a very long string is passed as category to grouped category plugin used at highcharts, it appends the label with ellipsis as shown below
but when i replace the variables with spaces, it starts adding carriage return instead of actually replacing with ellipsis as shown below.
Is there a way to actually make 2 consistent to be with 1?
Adding staggerlines in xAxis: label would fix this issue.

I have my line chart showing all the data properly, including some annotated values which are meant to act as the label in the last data point for the lines. I wanted to do it this way so that I don't have to show literally every data label for every data point.
I have everything working correctly, but I noticed I am unable to remove the annotated legend item without removing the series. By removing the series, I lose the label. Below is my chart.
As you can see, the last data points are working as labels (1092 for example). The problem is you can also see each annotated item in the legend (the colored dashes with no text next to them). How can I only show the legend items for Gained (green), Lost (red), Net (gained - lost) (yellow), and Total (blue), without the other dashes? Is this doable?
I am also open to seeing if there is another way to have only the last data point have a data label in Google Sheets. I was just working off of this tutorial.
Below is a screenshot of some of my data rows in an accompanying sheet.
as long as the annotation column is specified as 'Label' for the primary column you shouldn't be seeing the former in legend
I need your help on this one. I'm looking to create a chart (without code) to display data by month in column charts, either like this:
Or like this:
In the figure 1, I read that the volume of 10 is driven by A, B & C.
In the figure 2, I read that the volume of 10 is driven by 4xA, 2xB & 4xC.
I tried to create my chart but the labels are awful on a single line, and I did not find any way to add a newline characters (\n, ...) in my labels serie.
Any idea to do one or the other one without going though apps script?
Thanks for your help!
You can do this by adding a label column to your data. See this example,
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1H5frKDH612ciLKnB0HY7FiB2FNQBobbhFGcvYqxC7f8/edit?usp=sharing
Add one label column for each data column
Create chart
Use stacked non 100%
Set range to include all labels
Set labels
In customize series check labels is on
In the downdown for label pick custom rather than value.
ScreenShots -
1. Add Label Columns 2. Set Labels on Series 3. Turn Labels On
So I have a sheet that outputs varying results from a FILTER function, depending on how you set some checkboxes.
One of the results columns has a conditional formatting rule that changes the colour of just that column depending upon the contents of the cell. It's a really simple one that says, if TEXT CONTAINS Matt, then make the cell blue.
But sometimes, and only sometimes, when the checkboxes are changed, so the results list becomes shorter, some of the conditional formatting colours stay in the lower cells even though the cell no longer contains any text at all.
Has anyone seen this before, or knows a solution?
What I need is to show a different valuesuffix for each chart type value based on a unique array for each series.
I have considered the answer in this question and created this jsfiddle.a
It will only work when the tooltip is displayed for one series at a time. If I set the series tooltip to be shareda, it will not work.
Any ideas?
For tooltip shared with multiple series, you need to loop the points like this in order for the tooltip to work.
Edited: Added valuePrefix
I'm trying to use conditional formatting to highlight the maximum value over multiple ranges. That is, find the one highest value in said ranges and highlight all instances of it. I have been able to use conditional formatting to highlight the highest number of one column, but not over multiple.
The ranges in question are: G3:G13,J3:J13,M3:M13,P3:P13,S3:S13,V3:V13
Screenshot of the spreadsheet
The versions I have tried either highlight every value in the first row, multiple values but not the highest one, or nothing at all.
An alternative is to use a MAX function and place that value in another cell (the little 4 in the bottom right corner) and use conditional formatting based on that value. However, it's not a particularly elegant solution nor have I been able to make that work properly.
I am using New Google Sheets and am familiar with custom formatting and custom formulas for doing so.
You need to use Conditional Formatting Custom Formula.
Set Apply to Range
G3:G13,J3:J13,M3:M13,P3:P13,S3:S13,V3:V13
Enter in Custom Formula is
=G3=(max($G$3:$G$13,$J$3:$J$13,$M$3:$M$13,$P$3:$P$13,$S$3:$S$13,$V$3:$V$13))
Pick your formatting style.
You may have to scroll down the Format cells if menu to find Custom Formula.
