I have a UIViewController in swift/ios 8.
In that view I have added two UITableView (Not UITableView Controller)
I have successfully loaded data from JSON web request.
I have added these tableviews within scroll view.
Now I want to make increase the height of the UITableView to fit all the rows. I do not want the UITableView to scroll. The UIView should be scrolled, with the Scroll View.
I have tried increasing size, also tried using sizeToFit method on the table view.i
Instead of using two separate UITableViews inside of a UIScrollView, use one UITableView with multiple sections.
The UITableViewDelegate protocol provides ways to use headers (tableView:viewForHeaderInSection:) and footers (tableView:viewForFooterInSection:) to create custom UI between the sections as needed.

possible solutions:
change UITableViewController to UICollectionViewController, and UITableViewCells to UICollectionViewCells. This should work but I'm trying to avoid this solution
UICollectionView embedded in UITableViewCell. Setting UICollectionView scrolling enabled to false, adjusting UITableViewCell's height to fit entire UICollectionView's contentSize.height. In systemLayoutSizeFitting(...) method of container (UITableViewCell) we call layoutIfNeeded on container and on contained UICollectionView and return UICollectionView's contentSize.
problem:
(re)calculation of entire UICollectionView contentSize requires a lot of work if we have hundreds of items (cellForItemAtIndexPath for every item). Want to avoid this somehow. Maybe we can increase container (UITableViewCell) height during scrolling UICollectionView which is embedded inside.
Same as 2 but we have fixed size container UITableViewCell (same height as view without header) with UICollectionView inside. When we scroll UITableView to the very bottom UICollectionView scroll should continue scrolling.
problem:
I don't understand how to deal with 2 instances of UIScrollView with scrollingEnabled = true for both. I think this could be solved with pan gesture recognizer delegates. If it is so I need help here.
I would personally opt for number 1 and completely avoid number 2. For number 3, you could set tableView.scrollingEnabled = false when the second segment is tapped. Set it to true when the first segment is tapped. That way, when it's false, the UICollectionView in your UITableViewCell can still scroll.

The nature of content is like an excel sheet with lots of horizontal and vertical scrolling rows and columns of data.
Actually you can do this using a hack. Put the tableView inside a scrollView. Then you should give a dynamic width to the tableView by specifying a width in storyboard for tableView or any child view of that scrollView(So we get the horizontal scrolling).You have to adjust some constraints depending on your requirement
Mine worked fine but as many users have said try a collection View if its easy
Note. There is a default scrollView within a tableView, So adjust your height of tableView in a way so the scrollView of tableView work and not the parent scrollView, while scrolling from top to bottom
Instead of using TableView try using collection view, there you can use horizontal and vertical scrolling using storyboard?
Try to use collectionview instead of tableview.
If your requirement demands use of tableview anyhow, then you can use tableview within scrollview.
In tableview within scrollview approach, you need to distinguish your parent scrollview as well as tableview's scrollview. Try to differentiate parent scrollview and tableview's scrollview with different tags. Because both scrollview will call delegate methods of viewcontroller, if implemented. Just check tag of scrollview in all delegate methods of scrollview and perform action accordingly.
As per my understaing you want a view which you want vertical scroll view and horizontal inside it.
So here my suggestion is to use UITABLEVIEW for vertical scrolling and UICOLLECTIONVIEW for horizontal scrolling inside tableview

I want to make UIViewController, which has 2 UITableViews - one is content tableview, second is an comments section tableview.
Basically, It's an detail product VC, which has own UITableView for own content and second UITableView will be CommentsVC tableview.
Problem is that, I want to get them like one whole tableView (scroll together) (like 2 section style).
My first idea was to create UIScrollView container, which contains both UITableViews, but I think that there will be problem with reusing cells.

When you take tableview inside scrollview it creates problem in scrolling i.e conflicting scrolls of both scrollview and tableview as UIScrollview is superview of UITableView .
So it's better to take one UITableView with different section. One Section for your content and another section for comments.
To implement a rather intricate design of a screen in an iOS app, I have a UITableView nested inside of a UIScrollView.
To keep the logic simple, I implemented a method on the UITableView that calculates its entire height, and i use the result of that method and set a constraint on the nested table view, so that the scrolling logic can be solely on the UIScrollView to deal with. (I forward methods such as scrollRectToVisible from the UITableView to the UIScrollView)
While this works great with small data sets, I have recently discovered the the reuse capabilities of the UITableView are not used, because the framework believes the entire UITableView to be visible when I set that height constraint. A simple log method in the cellForRowAtIndexPath method shows all cells get calculated at once.
My question is, is there anything I can do where I would be able to tell the nested UITableView how much of it is actually visible on screen, and to only compute those visible cells?
I basically need to override whatever part of UITableView that is responsible for calculating what cells should be visible on screen.
The table view will think of itself as filling its whole frame with cells. If you limit the height it will limit the cell count visible. Are you using the deque with reuse identifier method (if not see below)
How can I recycle UITableViewCell objects created from a XIB?
In shorts, my desired screen layout is basically a user profile (iOS 7 + Xcode 5). I used UIScrollView as the top level view. The reason is that I want all its subviews to scroll (user info view - the view with a profile image and some buttons you see on the screen, and the photos collection view - the one with black background) when it is scrolled.
The region with black background will show user photos. I'm wondering if I could use a UICollectionView here, or there's a better way to implement it. The UICollectionView in this case shouldn't be able to scroll itself, it just shows all cells, while the scrolling work is handled by the outermost UIScrollView.

Some said it's not possible (or at least, weird) implemeting UICollectionView inside UIScrollView because UIScrollView is UICollectionView's superclass which leads to unexpected behaviour. Some said it should be implemented in another way (but I didn't see a clear suggestion).
Yes, you can put a UICollectionView inside a UIScrollView. iOS has fully supported nested scroll views since iOS 3.0, and UICollectionView is a subclass of UIScrollView. For example, check out the App Store app on your iOS device. The screen scrolls vertically - it's either a UIScrollView or a UITableView (which is itself a subclass of UIScrollView). And each row of icons scrolls horizontally - each row is a UICollectionView.
However, it's not clear why you need to put a collection view inside a scroll view. It sounds like you only want the photos view to scroll, so just make the photos view be a collection view. Why do you need to put the collection view inside a scroll view?

Just use a collection view. Set the header of section 0 to the profile info view. You don't need a scroll view.
If you put all the photos in one section, you can set up the header in your storyboard with no code. If you use multiple sections, you'll need to implement collectionView:layout:referenceSizeForHeaderInSection: in your delegate and collectionView:viewForSupplementaryElementOfKind:atIndexPath: in your data source.
