MTOUCHTASK: Error MT2002 updating to unified API Xamarin Forms - ios

Updating to the unified API is proving to be a total nightmare!
I have used the shared project template to create a new Xamarin forms application and followed the documentation twice and yet both times get the error below
MTOUCHTASK: error MT2002: Failed to resolve "System.Void UIKit.UICollectionView::set_DataSource(UIKit.IUICollectionViewDataSource)" reference from "Xamarin.iOS, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=84e04ff9cfb79065"
This is really getting frustrating now! Can anyone help please? I have tried linking all assemblies in the linker options but that makes no difference
I am using version 1.3.1.6294-pre1 of Xamarin forms
Alternatively, how can I get updated versions of the project templates that work with the unified API?
Please note that I am getting these problems using the project template only, i.e. there is none of my own code in this yet
Paul

I was getting the same issue (still am). I changed the linker settings to "Don't link" and that temporarily solved the problem. It seems that there are currently bugs in the linker for unified libraries.

#Paul, came across your post searching for a solution to the same problem. The only thing I can help with is to point you to this post on the Xamarin forums that states that you must enable Alpha channel updates to get the new templates in Xamarin Studio and VS 2013. The new templates are also available in VS 2015 on the stable channel. Will monitor this thread for the solution to the other problem!

When I turned off Linking, my release iPhone config finally built.

Finding Reference to System.IO.FileSystem.Watcher.dll

I have a Xamarin Forms cross platform solution. When I build the solution, the iOS project can't resolve the reference: C:/Program Files (x86)/Reference Assemblies/Microsoft/Framework/Xamarin.iOS/v1.0/Facades/System.IO.FileSystem.Watcher.dll even though it is physically there. All the other projects build just fine.
I can't find a reference to the DLL or the class anywhere in the solution files. I don't need the capability.
Ideas? Thanks.
I had the exact same issue. I found out that the issue happened because of different versions of Xamarin.iOS on my development and mac machine. By updating Xamarin through Xamarin Studio, the problem was solved.

Update to Xamarin touch 8.2 and use mvvmcross

We are using xamarin and mvvmcross with great plesure normmally.
However I updated our project to the newest Xamarin.Ios 8.2, changed the reference from monotouch to Xamarin.Ios updated all our nuget packages (only mvvmcross packages) and then sh.. hit the fan.
1000 errors :P I got ridth of them all, however everytime I am using a component from mvvmcross it want me to reference 'module monotouch should be referenced.
Any suggestion for what I am needing to get my project to build again.
Regards
Xamarin's advice on the unified API is http://blog.xamarin.com/is-the-ios-unified-api-for-me/
Unfortunately, existing Xamarin.iOS components need to be re-built against the Unified API, so while we (and the community) are working to update the component code, you will not be able to include these in your app. A workaround for open-source projects is to download and compile the code yourself as part of your Unified API project.
#lothrop is doing a superb job leading the Unified API development for MvvmCross
You can see the progress, build it and contribute to it on https://github.com/MvvmCross/MvvmCross/pull/813 (and see a discussion on https://github.com/MvvmCross/MvvmCross/issues/801)
Currently I believe the progress is pretty good - it's working - but we have some VisualStudio Xamarin blockers which are preventing this being pushed to release.
Getting more dev effort on this - more input to https://github.com/MvvmCross/MvvmCross/pull/813 and https://github.com/MvvmCross/MvvmCross/issues/801 - would certainly be appreciated. e.g. the community can help by building and using #lothrop's code - does it work for them?

Strange issue with System.Web.Mvc losing its reference when checking out of TFS

I'm working with another developer on a project and everything has been working great until today. Now when I check out the solution to my Visual studio 2013, my reference to System.Web.Mvc is lost and I have to manually re-add it.
When I check in and she checks out, the same issue occurs for her. The path to the assembly is the same on both of our machines:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET MVC
4\Assemblies\System.Web.Mvc.dll
but for whatever reason, we're not in sync. As I said above, it was working great until today so something must've changed...but I have no idea what???
Any suggestions/ideas of what to look for to resolve this?
TIA
This issue occurred due to a Security update that incremented the version of MVC. So if you had References in your project pointing to the hard drive where the 2.0/ 3.0/ 4.0 version was. Your project was needing that particular version. Another way to solve this is to use Nuget to update references.
This is a post from Microsoft regarding the issue:

Get InvalidCastException with Glimpse, even though it's not installed. How do I fix this?

I had a Visual Studio 2012 project that I imported into Visual Studio 2013. I upgraded Entity Framework to version 6. I got the following error when I started the first time: Unable to cast object of type 'Glimpse.Ado.AlternateType.GlimpseDbConnection' to type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection'. Since this was a prototype app, I wasn't concerned about Glimpse, so I uninstalled it via NuGet, which removed the error and I carried on.
Now, I'm deploying to Azure websites and I keep getting that error!
Glimpse is uninstalled.
It works fine in release and debug locally.
I tried putting System.Data.Metadata.Edm.MetadataWorkspace.ClearCache(); in the Application_Start like this says. (Even though I don't run queries in Application_Start
I suspect I have a caching problem on Azure, but I'm not sure. How do I get the Azure deployment to remove Glimpse like the local install has?
Update: "Fixed"it by deleting the azure website and recreating it. Would still love to hear how to do with this without going with the nuclear option.
This is a bug and is fixed in the release that will hopefully be going out tomorrow - see here for more details https://github.com/Glimpse/Glimpse/issues/540.
I also faced this error and later on found the resolution.
Issue was that I had MVC5 and EF6 based solution and i had imported Glimpse.mvc4 and Glimpse.ef5 packages and they were incompatible i think .
Once i upgraded to Glimpse.EF6 and Glimpse.MVC5 it started working fine.
also had the same one, when I opted to remove Glimpse.
you can prevent this by deleting the bin/ and obj/ folders from your project folder(s) as Glimpse is copied to your bin during debugging.

Problem with F# Powerpack. Method not found error

I've had F# Powerpack for a while now. It ran perfectly. But a few days before, I don't know what I did, whenever I compile my project and run it, I get an error
Method not found: 'System.Object Microsoft.FSharp.Text.Parsing.Tables`1.Interpret(Microsoft.FSharp.Core.FSharpFunc`2<Microsoft.FSharp.Text.Lexing.LexBuffer`1<Char>,!0>, Microsoft.FSharp.Text.Lexing.LexBuffer`1<Char>, Int32)'.
I tried on my laptop too. Then I thought, that it might be an error in my code. So I started a new project, F# Parsed Language Starter Kit (the starter kit you find online), and it fails with the same error. I tried reinstalling F# Powerpack but the error continues.
You've probably installed VS2010 SP1.
http://fsharpnews.blogspot.com/2011/03/dont-install-vs2010-sp1.html
Please send details of your install configuration and updates to fsbugs AT microsoft.com.
Also, please repair Visual Studio, and/or look at the instructions on this page and send us the contents of your pub.config file.
A workaround to get you going again is to recompile the F# Power Pack for .NET 4.0 (it is a .NET 2.0 binary, and this related to the issue you're seeing)
I've got the same error when trying to build WikiBooks Lexing/Parsing example in Visual Studio 2012. I resolved the problem by switching target framework from 4.0 to 4.5 in project settings.
