Is there any mirror or a way to add a mirror? Why is it so slow? My internet connect is very fast here in Hong Kong.
I think the problem might be my location, if I run this on an Amazon linux server it runs fast, however from my PC here in Hong Kong its slow.
You can push the images you need into a docker registry running in your own infrastructure.
The docker registry is itself a docker container so it's really easy to set it up.

It is hard to run docker within a docker container for pulling the images.
Trivy requires that you have the images locally before it can scan the images, either in a local registry or as a file.

For the API I had a hard time making the authentication work, as it is repository specific, and Scaleways' authentication had unexpected behaviour.

We install the docker on VM be it you on-prem VM or cloud. You can install the docker on your laptop as well.

This question can be treated as lack of terminology awareness. We don't pull the container. We pull the image and run the container using that.
Quick terminology summary
Container-> Containers allow you to easily package an application's code, configurations, and dependencies into a template called an image.
Dockerfile-> Here you mention your commands or infrastructure blueprint.
Image -> Image gets derived from Dockerfile. You use image to create and run the container.

The docker daemon gets installed on your local machine and everything you do with the docker cli gets executed on your local machine and containers.
(not sure about the 1st part of your question). You can easily access your docker containers by docker exec -it <container name> /bin/bash for that you will need to have the container running. Check running containers with docker ps
(again I do not entirely understand your question) The images that you pull get stored on your local machine as well. You can see all the images present on your machine with docker images

I am learning docker, just getting my feet wet... I begin begging your pardon since I will probably using terminology badly :-(
I have successfully built my first container and run it locally.
The container image is a node.js + express web app.
Locally I run my image this way:
docker run -p 80:3000 myname/myimage
If I point my browser to the local server IP
http://192.168.1.123:80/
I access my app in all of its glory.
Then, I push it to docker hub with this command:
docker push myname/myimage
So far so good. The question is: am I supposed to be able to run my app from docker cloud, already, or should I push it to AWS, for example?
By executing docker push myname/myimage you only sent your image to docker-hub.
This image can then be run to create a container; but as is, it is not running.
You effectively will have to run it on any machine or service in order to access your app.
concerning the terminology:
you build an image, not a container
you push (or pull) an image to (from) docker-hub
you run a container from an image
I'm very new to docker, I made a simple django app with docker-compose.
How do I post it to docker hub so someone can run docker run against it?
Docker hub is a repository for Docker images (make with a Dockerfile). When you use docker-compose your are simply connecting together one or more images on docker hub using your composition (the yaml that describes the images and how to connect them). You aren't making an Image with docker-compose. I don't think there is a place to store/share compositions (yet) at Docker. However, you might take a look at tutum.co. There you can save your docker-compose (they call them stacks) and deploy them from tutum. Full disclosure, I have nothing to do with tutum.co.
As the last answer said, Docker hub is only for Docker images (i.e. dockerfiles).

I was wondering if there was a way to clone images from a local server.
The servers running containers will be hosted behind a bandwidth constrained connection. It would be great if there was a way to pull given containers for one server and then pull from that initial local server to update the containers on the remaining servers.
You could pull those images you want, give hem a new tag, and put them in your own registry.
For instance, let's say you pulled down the official registry image and stood it up at myregistry.internal.mycompany.com. Now, if you wanted to have a CentOS image available for all of your servers but didn't want to pull them all from the official repo (incurring the bandwitch charges) then you could pull a CentOS image (let's say centos:latest - docker pull centos) and then give that image a new tag, like this:
docker tag centos:latest myregistry.internal.mycompany.com/centos:latest
Now from your other servers you just pull 'myregistry.internal.mycompany.com/centos:latest'
Setting up your own repo is really easy as a docker container itself. You can pull the image and learn more at https://registry.hub.docker.com/_/registry/
I think you have a few options. If what you actually want to manage is images rather than containers:
You could set up a private Docker registry, and then push to/pull from that local repository. This may ultimately be the easiest if that is something that you want to do fairly often, because you're just using standard docker push/docker pull commands.
You could use docker save to save images on one server and docker load to load the images on another server.
If you are actually trying to move containers around:
You could use docker export on one server and docker import on another server.
