SET ASP.NET MVC4 button value - asp.net-mvc

I'm a newbie.
My problem is that i have a button and i want to set the value by a ASP.NET variable.
<input type="button" id="mybt" value="<%=Student.Name %>" />
This code is not working.
The code:
<%var Products = (IEnumerable<Demo.Models.Product>)ViewBag.Products;%></div>
<div>
<table border="1">
<tr>
<td>ID</td>
<td>Name</td>
<td>Price</td>
</tr>
<%foreach(var product in Products)
{ %>
<tr>
<td style="width:68px;height:20px">
<%=product.Id %>
</td>
<td style="width:120px">
<%=product.Name%>
</td>
<td style="width:120px">
<%=product.Price %>
</td>
<td style="width:120px">
<input type="button" value='<%=product.Id%>' />
<%} %>
</td>
</tr>

Instead of <%=Student.Name %> use this: #Student.Name
Provided that "Student" is the model name and "Name" is the property you want.
The reason for this is because <%= %> works for aspx but not the razor view engine which is probably what you have chosen for your MVC solution.

How to verify the initial text using geb

I am using geb spoke. For the below html structure I am not able to get the text from specified location:
Below is the html structure:
<div class="tab-pane ng-scope active" uib-tab-content-transclude="tab" ng-class="{active: tab.active}" ng-repeat="tab in tabs">
<div id="algemeen-tab-header" class="ng-tab-hdr ng-scope"></div>
<div id="algemeen-tab-body" class="ng-tab-bdy table-view ng-scope">
<table class="ng-tbl valign-top">
<tbody class="esuite-table-body">
<tr>
<td class="tp-label">
<label class="ng-binding">
Reference:
</label>
</td>
<td class="tp-field ng-binding">
I-5006-2015
</td>
<td class="tp-label ng-hide" ng-show="!zaak.anoniem"></td>
<td class="tp-field ng-binding ng-hide" ng-show="!zaak.anoniem"></td>
<td class="tp-label" ng-show="zaak.anoniem"></td>
<td class="tp-field ng-binding" ng-show="zaak.anoniem"></td>
<td class="tp-label"></td>
<td class="tp-field ng-binding"></td>
</tr>
<tr></tr>
<tr></tr>
<tr></tr>
<tr></tr>
<tr></tr>
<tr></tr>
<tr></tr>
</tbody>
</table>
</div>
</div>
I wanted to verify the text "I-5006-2015". I am not able to do it. Also, second scenario is that, I just wanted to assert that initial word is "I" from that location. How I can do that.
I have tried below variable to get the location but got failed:
referenceNumberText(wait:true){$("td", class: contains("tp-field ng-binding"))}
Please help me on this. Thanks!
Since you use html ids rather rarely, the selector for you text would be:
$("#algemeen-tab-body > table > tbody > tr:nth-child(1) > td:nth-child(2)").text()
Did you consider naming <td>'s? Example:
<td id="referenceNumber" class="tp-field ng-binding">
I-5006-2015
</td>
So your selector would be as easy as $("#referenceNumber").text()...

getting form value into controller in ruby on rails

I have a "search" page that have some controls and below is the search page code:
<%= form_for :search, :url => { :method => :get, :action => :search } do |f| %>
<table>
<tr>
<td align="center" style="vertical-align:top;">
<h2 style="color:Black; font-size: x-large;">Specs</h2>
<table>
<tr>
<td align="center">
<input type="text" name="tf_Zip" Style="text-align: left;" BackColor="#e5e5e5" Width="180px" ForeColor="Gray" Font-Size="Large">
</td>
</tr>
</table>
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<div class="button">
<input type="submit" name="search" value="Search" class="buttonSearch">
</div>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
<td align="center" style="vertical-align:top;">
<h2 style="color:Black; font-size: x-large;">
Result
</h2>
<% #user_zip.each do |uzr_zip| %>
<h1><%= uzr_zip.First_Name %></h1>
<% end %>
<table id="searchResult" width="100%" runat="server">
<tr>
<td bgcolor="#CCDBE0">
Image:
</td>
<td bgcolor="#CCDBE0">
<%= f.label(:zip, "Mentor") %>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
<% end %>
And when I am trying to get the textbox value into the controllers page like below
def search
#students=Students.all
#blah = params[:search][:tf_Zip]
end
render 'search'
end
Then it gave me an error below, at this line #blah = params[:search][:tf_Zip]
undefined method `[]' for nil:NilClass
Kindle help me. Thanks
I think your params[:search] is nil?
so for this you can use
#blah = params[:tf_Zip]
or change your input field like this
<%= f.text_field :tf_Zip %>
or you can use like this
<input type="text" name="search[tf_Zip]" Style="text-align: left;"
BackColor="#e5e5e5" Width="180px" ForeColor="Gray" Font-Size="Large">
Look at your log: you will see what is coming through in params, then you'll see why params[:search][:tf_Zip] doesn't work.
The error is telling you, effectively, that params[:search] is nil, and that you can't call [tf_Zip] on nil.
Your problem is this line:
<input type="text" name="tf_Zip" Style="text-align: left;" BackColor="#e5e5e5" Width="180px" ForeColor="Gray" Font-Size="Large">
It will populate params[:tf_Zip] because it's name is "tf_Zip". If you want it to populate params[:search][:tf_Zip] then you should set the name attribute to search[tf_Zip].
What would be nicer though is to use the rails form field helpers. I don't know why you have so much raw html inside a form_for.
<input type="text" name="tf_Zip" Style="text-align: left;" BackColor="#e5e5e5" Width="180px" ForeColor="Gray" Font-Size="Large">
can be replaced with
<%= f.text_field :tf_Zip %>
which will populate params[:search][:tf_Zip]
For the other attributes (Style etc) you should set these with css. Rails will probably put a class on the field automatically which you can use to do this. The "style" (note lowercase) attribute can be used instead but it's clumsy as it doesn't allow you to restyle the field (and more generally, your site) with css.
Have you checked to see if params[:search] is nil? If it is, then trying to pull [:tf_Zip] will cause that error.
Usually you'd submit the form from one controller action and handle the result in another action.
And your statement end looks misplaced.

problem jquery nested sortable list in IE7/8

i am having the same problem as in this thread
jQuery unexpected sortable behaviour
my system is doing identically the same thing. the only difference between my code and his code is that my code is 100% generated by ajax on the fly, and im inserting tables into each of the LI, but alas the results are the same. here is the html im inserting for each of my master list entries.
here is the blank list thats in my html
<ul id=\"questionList\">
</ul>
this is generated by javascript and ajax calls on the fly
<li id="liName-11" class="ui-state-default">
<table width="600" border=".5" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" class="singleBorder">
<tr>
<td width="386" align="left" valign="top">
<span id="quesEditText-11">Does Default Work
</span>
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<span id="quesEditSpan-11" onclick="setEditField('ques', 11)">Edit
</edit>
</td>
<td>
<span id="quesUpdateSpan-11" onclick="updateQuestionCall('ques', 11)">Update
</edit>
</td>
<td>
<span id="deleteSpan-11" onclick="deleteQuestionAjax(11)">Delete
</edit>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
<td width="200">
<input type="text" id="answerBox11">
<br>
<a href="#" onclick="insertAnswer(11, 'answerBox11')">Insert Answer
</a>
<ul id="answerList-11">
<li id="17">
<span id="answEditText-17">lets try this answer
</span>
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<span id="answEditSpan-17" onclick="setEditField('answ', 17)">Edit
</edit>
</td>
<td>
<span id="answUpdateSpan-17" onclick="updateQuestionCall('answ', 17)" style="display:none;">Update
</edit>
</td>
<td>
<span id="deleteSpan-17" onclick="deleteAnswerAjax(17)">Delete
</edit>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</li>
<li id="13">
<span id="answEditText-13">yet another question
</span>
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<span id="answEditSpan-13" onclick="setEditField('answ', 13)">Edit
</edit>
</td>
<td>
<span id="answUpdateSpan-13" onclick="updateQuestionCall('answ', 13)" style="display:none;">Update
</edit>
</td>
<td>
<span id="deleteSpan-13" onclick="deleteAnswerAjax(13)">Delete
</edit>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</li>
</ul>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</li>
folling the suggestion in the above thread, ive modified his suggestion into this
$("ul.list").live("mousedown", function(e){
e.stopPropagation();
});
but it has zero effect. works perfectly in chrome and firefox, but screws up in IE. trust me im about to just put in a script where if they see the site in IE that it will forward them to firefox and tell them to download a real browser but my boss doesn't like that idea. you guys have any idea?
Make sure your html is valid: you are closing your <span> elements with </edit>
Your script applies to a ul element with a list class which you don't define anywhere in your html.
http://api.jquery.com/event.stopPropagation/
You'll notice on this page that live() handles an event after it's already propagated up to the top of the document, so you'll need to use bind() instead of live().

Change table row using Rails Ajax

I've a simple page with link_to_remote Rails Ajax function and HTML table.
I'd like to change row of the table when click that link.
This is my html.
<table border="1">
<tr>
<td><div id="ajax_result_1">1</div></td>
<div id="ajax_result_2"><td>2</td></div>
</tr>
<div id="ajax_result_3">
<tr>
<td>3</td>
<td>4</td>
</tr>
</div>
</table>
And this is my code.
<%= link_to_remote 'Change', :update => "ajax_result_1", :url => "change_path" %>
change action just render simple text.
When I use ajax_result_1 for :update, it worked okay.
But, not for ajax_result_2 and ajax_result_3.
Is there a way to solve this? I want to replace row of the table.
<div id="ajax_result_2"><td>2</td></div>
this should be
<td><div id="ajax_result_2">2</div></td>
and
<div id="ajax_result_3">
<tr>
<td>3</td>
<td>4</td>
</tr>
</div>
should be
<tr id="ajax_result_3">
<td>3</td>
<td>4</td>
</tr>
you cann't use <div> tag in table directly if you want to use <div> you have to use it in the <td> only.

How to define in Grails an uploadForm and 2 different actions?

I have a gsp view, with an , and 2 input text.
I have a button to save and submit.
Now I would like to add another button with a new action, in my case a button to schedule save.
Note : in my controller I have define : def save (corresponding to button action save) and def schedule (corresponding to button action schedule).
What is the best way to add Schedule in this gsp view :
<g:uploadForm action="save" method="post" >
<div class="dialog">
<table>
<tbody>
<tr class="prop">
<td valign="top" class="name">
<label for="payload">File:</label>
</td>
<td valign="top">
<input type="file" id="payload" name="payload"/>
</td>
<td valign="top">
<input type="file" id="payload2" name="payload2"/>
</td>
</tr>
<tr class="prop">
<td valign="top" class="name">
<label for="lvalue">Lvalue:</label>
</td>
<td valign="top" class="value ${hasErrors(bean:rmmInstance,field:'lvalue','errors')}">
<input type="text" id="lvalue" name="lvalue" value="${fieldValue(bean:rmmInstance,field:'lvalue')}" />
</td>
</tr>
<tr class="prop">
<td valign="top" class="name">
<label for="wvalue">Wvalue:</label>
</td>
<td valign="top" class="value ${hasErrors(bean:rmmInstance,field:'wvalue','errors')}">
<input type="text" id="wvalue" name="wvalue" value="${fieldValue(bean:rmmInstance,field:'wvalue')}" />
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
</div>
<div class="buttons">
<span class="button"><input class="save" type="submit" value="Run Now" /></span>
</div>
</g:uploadForm>
I have just one form, but 2 different actions.
Thanks !
With an actionSubmit:
Purpose
Creates a submit button that maps to a
specific action, which allows you to
have multiple submit buttons in a
single form. Javascript event handlers
can be added using the same parameter
names as in HTML.
From the Grails reference docs.
