Book Mastering Grunt Chapeter 1 Bower problems - bower

When I try the examples from the book i get lots of error and nothing gets installed. What am I missing, when looking for examples on the the internet my bower.json looks ok.
Se this link for code and more info:

This is a known issue with a tmp dependency. Bower has since been updated though to fix it (build 1.3.8). I see you still have an older version. Please run
npm update -g bower
to update bower to the final release and try again.

vips/vips8 file not found #include <vips/vips8> in Ionic cordova in IOS

I found an error in sharp.
After that, I found a blog in which they ask to delete sharp from the node module and run sudo npm i.
I have gone through GitHub and write minipass - 2.7.0
After that, I got a new error in
vips/vips8 file not found #include <vips/vips8>
I'm using Ionic with Angular on Macbook
I use commands which is
1.sudo npm install
2.sudo npm i gulp-sass -ES --unsafe-perm=true
3.sudo ionic cordova platform add ios
I very recently ran into a similar issue after making some changes to a project's package.json on my Mac (not an Angular or Cordova project).
I came across this GitHub issue for the sharp package which mentioned you may need to update the globally-installed version of libvips: https://github.com/lovell/sharp/issues/1148
In my case, since I use Homebrew but had not directly installed this package previously, I was able to resolve by running brew install vips and then re-running npm install. Note that it has a lot of dependencies so installation may take some time.
Edit: if that doesn't work, you may need to try a fresh install by removing node_modules, then re-running npm i.
This might be not applicable to everyone, but remove package-lock.json and node_modules directory first and then try npm install again. (I also added the minipass in my package.json, by the way)
In my case, I had encountered the same error, but I could solve it by doing the above.

. Why I am getting an error message? Building a React App

I wanted to start practicing with React to make a simple app. Went ahead and downloaded homebrew and node onto my computer. As I build my app with yarn install I get to the end where it tells you happy hacking. But when I run yarn start it gives me an error message.
-There might be a problem with the project dependency tree.
It is likely not a bug in Create React App, but something you need to fix locally.
The react-scripts package provided by Create React App requires a dependency:
"eslint": "^6.6.0"
Don't try to install it manually: your package manager does it automatically.
However, a different version of eslint was detected higher up in the tree:
/Users/zacharyschneider/node_modules/eslint (version: 5.16.0)
Manually installing incompatible versions is known to cause hard-to-debug issues.
If you would prefer to ignore this check, add SKIP_PREFLIGHT_CHECK=true to an .env file in your project.
That will permanently disable this message but you might encounter other issues.
To fix the dependency tree, try following the steps below in the exact order:
1. Delete package-lock.json (not package.json!) and/or yarn.lock in your project folder.
2. Delete node_modules in your project folder.
3. Remove "eslint" from dependencies and/or devDependencies in the package.json file in your project folder.
4. Run npm install or yarn, depending on the package manager you use.
In most cases, this should be enough to fix the problem.
If this has not helped, there are a few other things you can try:
5. If you used npm, install yarn (http://yarnpkg.com/) and repeat the above steps with it instead.
This may help because npm has known issues with package hoisting which may get resolved in future versions.
6. Check if /Users/zacharyschneider/node_modules/eslint is outside your project directory.
For example, you might have accidentally installed something in your home folder.
7. Try running npm ls eslint in your project folder.
This will tell you which other package (apart from the expected react-scripts) installed eslint.
If nothing else helps, add SKIP_PREFLIGHT_CHECK=true to an .env file in your project.
That would permanently disable this preflight check in case you want to proceed anyway.
P.S. We know this message is long but please read the steps above :-) We hope you find them helpful!

A way to solve this issue or help me understand what is going on that would be great or point me in the right direction to find resources.
Thanks for your Help
It seems like you have installed es-lint 5.16.0 manually, and it conflicts with the needed version (6.6.0).
Have you tried the steps suggested in the error message?
Do you explicitly tell the es-lint version in your package.json? Could you share your package.json if you continue to experience the issue?

How to make JSPM install Bower dependencies

For a while now, my client has been using some Node and Bower components to build projects. Whenever a new developer comes in, it's easy for that person to simply run
npm install
bower install
And then be ready to work.
We are working on a new project and this time we want to use JSPM instead of Bower. However, we want to leverage our existing private libraries (20+ of them) and we don't want to spend stupid amounts of time rewriting them. Plus they still need to work as regular Bower components for other projects.
So far, this worked. We used jspm-git to set the registry. However, JSPM fails in one regards: it does not install the Bower dependencies of those libraries it installed.
How would we go about that? I would love the other devs in the team to be able to check out the project and run
npm install
jspm install
And be on their way. It doesn't seem possible so far. Any set up we have forgotten? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.
You need the jspm bower endpoint:
npm install jspm-bower-endpoint --save-dev
Then you need to register the bower endpoint with jspm:
jspm registry create bower jspm-bower-endpoint
Then you can install bower packages:
jspm install bower:angular-bootstrap-multiselect
Hope this helps :)
Just installed it successfully with jspm install npm:bootswatch, then required it in code with <require from="bootswatch/slate/bootstrap.min.css"></require>
Also posted this info on the bootswatch-dist project on github here: https://github.com/dbtek/bootswatch-dist/issues/32

Using "npm install" to install jquery-ui

I see from here https://github.com/jquery/jquery-ui that jquery-ui's latest release is 1.11.4. However, when I use "npm install jquery-ui", it's only 1.10.3. I checked this version in node_modules/jquery-ui/jquery-ui.js.
Is there any way for me to install the latest version?
jQuery-ui specifically needs to be build after installation. To avoid this, use npm install jquery-ui-dist
T J gave the right answer, but it is a bit short / too generic.
The GitHub project is at https://github.com/jquery/jquery-ui/
So the real command would be npm install github:jquery/jquery-ui (you can even skip github: as npm defaults to it).
But this would bring you the latest, unstable version (around 1.12 at time of writing), and it didn't even work when I tried.
So it is better to fetch a tagged version:
npm install github:jquery/jquery-ui#1.11.4
Generic note: AFAIK, if the project hasn't a package.json file, this kind of install can still fail.
Here is the current latest version (1.11.4), same package that bower is using, including all themes.
npm install github:components/jqueryui#1.11.4
You can install it like
npm install github:mygithubuser/myproject
as mentioned in the install documentation

Bower component download failures in CodeKit

I downloaded the latest version of CodeKit (trial version 2.0 (16828)). It starts fine on my Mac Mini, but as soon as I try to download a component using Bower, it fails with the error: "Bower Error / Bower could not determine which components are installed in this project. Make sure you're connected to the Internet and try again." Repeated attempts (either clicking "Retry" or clicking "OK" and trying to download the component again) continue to fail.
The app completes the "Downloading Bower component list" without error. The error occurs when it is "Scanning For Installed Components..."
I'm connected to the Internet just fine.
When I try to install a Bower component, it fails with this message:
Why am I getting these errors and how can I fix CodeKit?
Thank you!
Turns out that Bower continued to fail, which prevented CodeKit from working.
Tolga Akyuz's answer to Siddharth's problem was the fix - I had a ~/.cache file which was preventing Bower from adding files to ~/.cache/
When I renamed the ~/.cache file (e.g. to ~/.cache-orig) and created a ~/.cache/ directory, Bower began working properly - and so did CodeKit.
It turns out that this behavior can be caused by several things. Another user fixed it and shared this with me:
I installed xcode and still had issues. After a bit of research, I found a post that said installing the command line tools in Xcode might solve the problem. I did that and the problem is now solved.
From what I can see, there is a appears to be an issue with the $PATH getting messed up with systems that have been upgraded from Lion (and Snow Leopard) that did not ship with git. In the questions and answers listed on the page linked below, there were several terminal command options given, but I was unsure of which to choose so I went with the Xcode route.
https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/18470/why-is-git-not-found-after-installing-os-x-lion
I had the same issue.
Check console messages (mac)
Delete faulty library. I had one.
Should be all good now.
good luck
If it's still relevant. In my case it was Google Maps AMD Loader Plugin. All fixed after removing it.
In my case the problem was with path to the project folder – it contains "!" symbol that makes bower crazy. To check is it Bower or CodeKit problem try to cd in terminal to your project folder and run "bower list".
zhaba$ bower list
bower EINVALID Name must be lowercase, can contain digits, dots, dashes, "#" or spaces
With corrected project folder path CodeKit works.
I had the same problem running CodeKit2 with El Capitan, and an old version of Xcode. Updating Xcode fixed the problem.
