I was given a new requirement for the App:
Each client must host its own services, meaning the "Service URL" cannot be fixed.
I got scared but just found the Dynamic Services URL property, which is great, and does what I want, but...
Is it possible to change the "Preferences" and "User Information" descriptions (that GX automatically creates)? The App is in Portuguese.
Or, alternatively, can I build my own validation (the check if the URL is set on my startup object)?
Thanks
Jaime
You should be able to translate those messages as any message on the KB.
First enable static or runtime translation on the KB.
Secondly go to: Folder View > Customization > Localization and filter the messages.
There should appear all the messages shown and you can add your Portuguese translations under the Portuguese language.
Example:
In an example KB you can see this messages:
and
For the second part of your question I did not find any way to do the validation.
The validation is done automatically by GeneXus Flexible Client.

About Translate JMeter projects,
I follow the translating steps and open I18NEdit,
I see the translation text options but I notice that I can't localize Menu items as File, Exit,..
It seems that there are texts (messages.properties) that can't be localized.
Is messages.properties localization is done manually by adding messages_[locale].properties?
Am I missing something ? Is it on purpose or should an enhancement be opened?
We don't really use i18nedit for translation. But you can still use it.
Anyway, Internationalization in JMeter is based on properties files:
src/core/org/apache/jmeter/resources/messages_[locale].properties
src/components/..../*.properties (except some like colors.properties)
src/protocol/..../*.properties
No need to translate deprecated components.
The 2 latter are related to components that rely on TestBean approach (no specific GUI)
Note that a PR (github mirror) is preferred over a patch:

We have a scenario where we'd like to display a custom URL in an Excel JS Task Pane via an add-in. Specifically, we want to look at a configurable path setting that we'll allow the user to configure and then browse to the appropriate server's page.
From what I've seen, Office locks down the Task Panes pretty decently, I'm not even able to navigate to another page within a task pane and have it re-use the task pane even if I use an anchor tag with a target="_top" or target="_self" attribute.
I'm looking for a way to use JavaScript to perform a ShowTaskPane action or have a variable URL defined in the manifest so depending on some value of a property the user has configured I can route to a dynamically generated URL in the task pane that will then give me user / organizational specific data to insert into the document.
Any ideas?
If you'd like to navigate to a URL in the task pane, define an <AppDomain> element for the URL in the manifest. That should work. https://dev.office.com/docs/add-ins/overview/add-in-manifests#specify-domains-you-want-to-open-in-the-add-in-window
If you cannot define the domain in the <AppDomain> of the app manifest, you can IFrame in the content you want. As long as it supports IFrame-ing
Upadte: After reading the comments on the question I see that you are trying to provide authentication. If the authentication comes from a single set of domains just add them to your manifest and all will be sweet. If the domain changes per auth request you are pretty much out of luck until wildcarded domains are added.
I want to change the homepage in the Edge browser via Registry but it's encrypted and I see (Protected - It is a violation of Windows Policy to modify. See aka.ms/browserpolicy) in Registry. Please help me to edit homepage in Registry or find where it's a violation of Windows policy to modify. See aka.ms/browserpolicy
ProtectedHomepages value is not really encrypted, instead it is an obfuscated buffer which contains homepages strings and the cryptographic hash for these strings. Buffer is obfuscated using the random generated seed which is also stored as a part of the buffer. I have done some reverse engineering research and published the results here.
So, basically, reading and decrypting this value is easier than modifying due to the required crypto-hash. However, reading capability is the only required for anti-malware software. I don't know what reasons you have to modify this value, hopefully you are not writing a piece of malware...
If it is only the homepage in Edge you want to set then change the URL below to your preference and then save this as a .reg file:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppContainer\Storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge\Main]
"HomeButtonEnabled"=dword:00000001
"HomeButtonPage"="https://www.google.com/"
Currently it is not possible to change the startpage of Microsoft Edge writing string or binary value into the registry. The entry to change is "Protected - It is a violation of Windows Policy to modify. See aka.ms/browserpolicy" -> Value "ProtectedHomepages". The value is a encrypted binary value, in which the current homepage is not readable.
When you have to set a specific homepage more than one time and you want to do it with C# here a Workaround:
Set the startpage you want via UI of the Microsoft Edge browser. After Change of it restart the browser and export the registrykey named above. Open the exported file and copy the binary data into a string constant or resource in your C# Solution. In the function to write this Setting you can copy the string into a byte-Array and than writing as binary value into the registry. This entry has effect after restart of Microsoft Edge.
The same way you should use also when you want to Change the Default Search Provider. But in this case in addition to the value "ProtectedSearchScopes" one more registrykey is to use -> "OpenSearch". This key does/should exists by third Party search Providers only. This key should be deleted or does not exist if the search Provider is Bing.
Disable your computer's network interface
Launch MS Edge. The recovery page will error out
Open a new MS Edge tab
Close the MS Edge tab containing the error message
Close MS Edge
Enable your computer's network interface
Launch MS Edge
Also...
Some malware will change the Edge homepage. You can see the malicious URL in address bar, record it.
Kill Edge with Task Manager or reboot.
Edit your hosts file in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc, from an Administrative command prompt go to that directory and type notepad hosts and hit Enter.
Add a host entry like this
127.0.0.1 bad.url (substitute the URL you recorded above for bad.url)
Save the hosts file then open Edge. This method is helpful when you are remoted in and cannot disconnect the network connection.
No need to do it in registry. You can now change the homepage via the settings in Microsoft Edge
On our website, we have the following structure:
sitename
-Global
-English
-UK
-English
for the Global > English page, the links to the page are showing as:
Link to document
/global/en/
Alternative Links
http://english
so the 'Link to document' is correct, but the alternative link isn't. On the UK > English page, I just get the correct 'Link to document'. I've tried publishing out the whole site but I can't as it times out (I've tried increasing all the timeouts, but it's taking an hour to publish so I get a strange network error), and just re-publishing the whole 'Global' node and sub-documents doesn't fix things. Any other way to fix this? Also what is the purpose of the 'Alternative Links' and how are these determined?
as I suggested in your original post, I set up a very basic Umbraco v6.1.2 instance (using NuGet in Visual Studio) with a single doc type and an identical top-level structure to what you have described.
So:
Set umbracoUseDirectoryUrls to true in the web.config
The doc type, called "BasicPage" has a single property called "umbracoUrlName". This allows you to overwrite the path created by Umbraco based upon the title of the node. I assume you already have that in your doc type.
I set both English nodes to have a umbracoUrlName of "en".
I added two hostnames to the Root node - "localhost" and "mobile.localhost"
I published the Root node and all following nodes
As you can see, both the "Link to document" and "Alternative links" are as expected.
I suspect you may be right that trying to get the site to publish may fix the issue, so you may have to publish the site in bits, working from branch to branch.
However, I would advise creating a test Umbraco instance as I have done and then comparing what you have.
Alternatively, you can of course remove the hostname settings altogether if the entire content structure is going to be served using the same hostnames as these can simply be controlled in IIS. Umbraco doesn't actually need to know about them unless you have separate distinct sites in the same content tree.
Created a new Publishing site to serve a portal for our division. It contains several custom coded webparts that fetch data from the db and/or RSS feds and outside links.
I found it absolutely dumb that as a owner I'm having to approve my own page. Is there was to turn off this functionality? Or modifying so that only a document library runs through the approval process?
In the edit mode, there is a link "Reminder: Check for Unpublished Items" and if I click it all of my web parts and all the links, pictures, and other contents within these web parts are highlighted with a fat dotted red line. How do I get rid of this since what sharepoint is complaining about is embedded in these webpart?
If I try to create a doc library called "Announcements" I get an error:
"The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
Requested URL: /Announcements/Forms/AllItems.aspx"
For some reason it does not like the word, as I can call it BuggsBunny and all is fine. Is "Announcements" a key word of some kind in SharePoint? I really need to create a list with this name.
Thanks,
Risho

You should choose, when you are creating your site, a "Publishing site" template rather than a "Publishing site with workflows". The main difference between these two is the fact that you'll approval workflow on nearly everything activated with the later while the former is free of it but still allows you to activate it if needed

Don't know where you are hosting your webpart ressources (style library, document library, image library ? outside of SharePoint ? On the 12 hives ?) but if they are within SharePoint libraries and the content is not published with a 1.0 version available for the readers, you'll have this error. Deactivate the approval workflow or publish AND approve theses items. Please also note that external content will probably trigger this red link, but I suggest you to use a limited "visitor" account to check up the final rendering. The "outlining" is a nice addition but it's not always working as expected, mainly with external content.

There is a default annoucement list in SharePoint (with its dedicated template, not sure that you have one provisioned with the publishing template that you picked, that might be a reason why you have this strange error. The default announcements list or its template is not a document library. If you want a document library with that name, and that specific name gives you that error, I suggest that you create a document library called AnnouncementsDocuments and then change its title for "Annoucements", that way the url will be clean of the dreaded name and you'll have the specified title.
For the error message, have a look within the source of the error message page, you might have, in some comments, more information that might help us to help you.
Hope it will help :)
