I am new to iOS development and have the following problem.
EXPLANATION:
I have an app which consists of several mini games. Each mini game is available through in app purchase. However the mini game availability is saved in a BOOL variable like this:

PROBLEM:
Each time I start the app the game availability is checked from the self.gameAvailabilityMutableArray which is set to:

TRIED SOLUTIONS:
I tried to implement the array by calling the iTunes server and writing the data. However, the time to recieve the request is greater then the app loading time. The second problem arrises if there is no internet connection, then the app crashes.
I also tried using .plist files. I don't know why but writing to the plist file doesn't change it's contest all the time! Some times it works , sometimes it doesn't... Sometimes the app loads the values correctly sometimes it mixes them with the last values.
QUESTION:
Is there a way to store permanent app data which is being checked when the app loads beside plists?

save your data in NSUserDefaults.then use below conditions for app start first time or handle another conditions.

You can save the data in NSUserDefaults using the following code:
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setObject:_gameAvailabilityMutableArray forKey:#"gameArray"];
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] synchronise];
and you can retrieve the array using
_gameAvailabilityMutableArray = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:#"gameArray"];

The reason for your issue is because your code gets recursion.
As I understand, you used NSNotificationCenter to observer key NSUserDefaultsDidChangeNotification. So whenever NSUserDefaults is updated, it will trigger defaultsChanged method. But inside it, you continue to change NSUserDefaults, set new value for totalBTCValue and totalUSDValue (as I guess) which makes defaultsChanged be called again and leads to recursion.
To fix the issue, you shouldn't update NSUserDefaults inside defaultsChanged method
I have 2 applications sharing data via the NSUserDefaults, initWithSuite ID. Using iOS Dev Center.
One in 2 attempts the following code block apparently fails to write my dictionary object to the shared UserDefault area, I use the BOOL response from Synchronise to check the success. eg, (4 NSData objects, one, or more, or all of the items might fail to write to storage).
I use [[NSUUID uuid] UUIDString] as a key [EDIT: Been told in comments that this changes value?, Tried a Static String same result, 25% fail rate]
Any help will be greatly received.

Again with this working 75% of the time, im not sure whats causing the intermittency but its killing the usability of my feature.
You have not pass the value to NSUserDefault, change the code like this,
[myDefaults setObject:uuid forKey:"myDict Object"];
[myDefaults synchronize];
I am really new to iOS programming and forgive me if I sound a bit ignorant but, whenever I try to save a high score within my app using NSUserDefaults I always lose it after the app is shut down.
This is in my viewDidLoad method:

After closing the Notification Center, the widget behaves like an app which is terminated, so any data results lost. How could I solve this issue?

You need to use app group identifier instead of com.*
For instance:
NSUserDefaults *shared = [[NSUserDefaults alloc]initWithSuiteName:#"group.company.appgroup"];
Don't forget to synchronise when you store data
[shared synchronize];
You need to add the App Group stuff detailed under here and then if it actually worked (pretty iffy under beta) it should allow you to share NSUserDefault data like normal between the host and widget.
Edit: Normal NSUserDefaults does not work. Apple has implemented a new method. To use, simply redefine your NSUserDefaults instance like this:
NSUserDefaults *shared = [[NSUserDefaults alloc]initWithSuiteName:#"com.you.app.container"];

You first need the App Groups set up for both targets (application and the extension).
Then, use the
NSUserDefaults *shared = [[NSUserDefaults alloc]initWithSuiteName:#"group.company.myapp"];
to obtain the defaults object which you can read from/write to as usual.
If you want to be notified of changes to the defaults, use the NSUserDefaultsDidChangeNotification in your widget (or app).

Today Extension and Main app run on two processes. Today Extension can't receive NSUserDefaultsDidChangeNotifications. I tried use MMWormhole. It is very good.
I wrote these lines in my code:

But these lines are getting called every time when the app launches.
Now my question is, how can the following be achieved?
Create CFUUID.
Store it in some variable in such a way that, when next time my app starts, it should not create a new CFUUID. It should look for the previously created CFUUID and return it.
In short, I want a CFUUID be created ONCE and used throughout the life of the app (till it gets uninstalled).
easiest way is to store it in NSUserDefaults

Create once. Add it in NSUSerDefaults and check whether you have a UUID stored already before creating one. Simple Pseudo code,

If you are storing identifier on server to keep track of important information regarding unique user than i suggest you store identifierString in "KeyChain" which keeps that identifier even if you application has been deleted by user.
NSUserDefaults keep data until app is deleted. Keychain keeps data even if app is deleted.
I had similar case so this might help if your case is equivalent to mine.
