onedrive music Meta data - meta

I make application with Live Connect REST API.
When I uploaded Korean music files, I saw some problem.
The metadata of some Korean music files were well encoding, but some metadata were broken.
I did next process.
I uploaded a music file which's metadata encoded with "UTF-8"
I requested that file's information.that was broken.
I uploaded a music file which's metadata encoded with "UTF-16"
I requested that file's information.that was OK.
what encoding type is possible in SkyDrive server?and How can I get proper metadata?

Even though this question is over a year old, I think I have an answer. It appears that OneDrive/SkyDrive only support ID3v2.3 ISO-8859-1 format, and not UTF8 or UTF16. I just experienced this with adding some tracks I updated ID3 tags, and some tracks would show the proper Album Artist and the ones I updated did not. I'm using MP3Tag to edit the tracks, which defaults to ID2v2.3 UTF16. When I changed it to ISO-8859-1 format, OneDrive reads the ID

.m4a is considered audio/m4a or audio/mp4

I'm trying to make an audio upload to S3 and I'm a little confused what I should declare my mime type as. My audio file is an m4a recorded on an iphone as kAudioFormatMPEG4AAC. Would this be considered audio/m4a or audio/mp4? I'm seeing conflicting answers online.
The m4 in m4a is short-hand for MPEG-4, just like mp4 is short-hand for MPEG-4.
In fact, m4a, m4v and mp4 files all have the same internal MPEG-4 atom structure. The difference between the files is their content (video files have video atoms as well as audio atoms.)
The codec of the audio can also be different despite using the same file extension, for example both alac and AAC formats use the MPEG-4 container format with the m4a file extension.
So to answer your question, it really doesn't make much difference. My personal preference would be audio/mp4 since that is effectively saying
Audio data in MPEG-4 container
Whereas, audio/m4a is like saying
Audio data in MPEG-4 container containing audio
Use audio/mp4. audio/m4a may work, but it's invalid.
MP4 MIME type registration:
2. Selection of MIME Types for MP4 Files
The MIME types to be assigned to MP4 files are selected according to
the contents. Basic guidelines for selecting MIME types are as
follows:
a) if the file contains neither visual nor audio presentations, but
only, for example, MPEG-J or MPEG-7, use application/mp4;
b) for all other files, including those that have MPEG-J, etc., in
addition to video or audio streams, video/mp4 should be used;
however:
c) for files with audio but no visual aspect, including those that
have MPEG-J, etc., in addition to audio streams, audio/mp4 may be
used.
In any case, these indicate files conforming to the "MP4"
specification, ISO/IEC 14496-1:2000, systems file format.
Further, the list of standard MIME types includes audio/mp4, not audio/m4a, and non-standard MIME types should include “x-”, like audio/x-m4a.
In 2021 for me audio/mp4 for an .m4a file worked on Firefox + Chrome (Linux), Opera (Android) but not on iPhone Safari. For some formats the OS plays a role due to codecs.
I used a source tag with type attribute set and I also set the same type in the Content-Type header of the streamed / downloaded file.

Download all available (and new) files

I'm using NSURLSessionDownloadTask to download some .mov files from a web and storing them in my app.
Now what I'd like to achieve is to
download ALL files of certain type (in this case .mov) available on the page, without having to specify every file URL
download files ONLY if they are not already stored in my app.
Is there any way to achieve this?
You would have to scrape that html page to get all the urls (.mov) you are looking for. Either you can use NSXMLParser if you want to write your own or you can google some library.
When you download a file, persist some metadata (eg. name or some unique identifier) either in SQLite or CoreData, so that you can check if the file has already been downloaded.

allow UTF-8 encoded filenames on (file-)webserver?

I am hosting a small fileserver, where users can upload documents from all around the world.
Due to problems in encoding (see otherquestion), I am asking myself if I should disallow users to upload (and on the other hand download) files not supported by CP1252 charset?
or otherwise; is it senseful to allow users upload documents with arabian or chinese letters in their filenames?
PS: they download the same file some time later (and it should have the same filename as uploaded)
You should be storing the files on disk using a randomly generated name, or let the file name be based on a hash of the file contents (good for deduplicating storage as well). You can save the original file name as meta data in a database together with all other meta data about the file (who uploaded it and things like that). Then you serve the file again using a PHP script which sets the original file name from the database in an HTTP header. This way you:
don't need to worry about file name sanitisation or duplication
file system encoding issues
storage duplication (if using a hash)

Extract metadata without uploading

I hava a Ruby on Rails application that works with video playlists. Now I would like to extract timecode information from the video file without uploading it to the server (takes to long). Is the possible?
If it is not possible, is there a way to export te metadata locally and uploads these xmls (for example) to the server?
Thanks in advance
afaik, this is not possible in browsers that do not support File API. Take a look at jquery file upload and the way it allows user to identify the file extension before upload.

To retrieve the contents of .doc files?

I am working as a Software developer for Mobile Applications. I am developing an application in which i want to retrieve the contents of the .doc files that arrive on the Blackberry mobile as an Email Attachment Part. Whenever i am retrieving the contents of the .txt files, the code written for the mobile is retrieving the accurate contents but in case of .doc files, it is displaying a lot of junk material in the header and footer of the actual contents.
So, my problem is that how can i get rid of this additional junk material as i want to retrieve only the actual contents of the .doc files. Please reply
Thanks
You can get the specifications of the doc-Format from Microsoft. Though, I don't know if they're complete or even useful. Another guess would be to have a look at Projects which have implemented it, like OpenOffice.org.
