I have a textfield where the user can write a phone number but I want the user to be able to start writing a name of one of his' contacts (of the address book) and the textfield should give him an autocomplete for possible results while he's typing.The app already has permission to the address book when the user starts writing.
Here is the example of autocomplete email search. So please modify it is according to you..And i Hope it will help you.

You can do this by using a TableView (for showing autocomplete results) and NSPredicate have a look on this link for more details
When searching ABAddressBook, how do I search for contact names while excluding job titles?
I used this library in my project for autocomplete.

I am a signup form which has bunch of text fields like name, phone, address 1st line, city, state etc.
Can I use googles's Place Autocomplete on this form in such a way that when I start typing address 1st line in one of the fields it suggests/auto completes and fills the city and state
1st question, is it possible, if yes are there any examples or tutorials?
There are examples out there but they use autocomplete UI, I want to be able to use my own edit text fields.
So Yes I was able to do exactly what I wanted.
I had two dependencies for this.
1. AutoComplete Text Field
2. Google's Place AutoComplete
My problem seems simple. But have not been able to solve till now. Any help would be appreciated.
I have a listgrid showing certain records from a datasource. One of the fields is a many to one. When I try to edit any record, I get a dropdown with all the possible values that the record can have. All fine thus far. The issue is that all the dropdown values are displayed as simple text. I wish them to be displayed as shown in this link.
The requirement is to have "A SelectItem with icons" on the listgrid.
Regards
Use ListGridField.setEditorType() to customize the editor shown for a field. This API takes a FormItem, so pass a SelectItem configured similarly to the sample you linked to.
I am building a website where the user should have the capability of adding their School/University. I have noticed in LinkedIn, when i tried to type in my school name , it showed up a auto search box with all the schools, beginning with the letter i typed. How can i achieve the same functionality?
Do they save all the Universities in their database ? Or is there any Open webservices i can use that will show all the Schools/Universities ?
Thanks !
This feature is called "Auto Complete" and the text boxes are enabled with that. These allow you to filter the data required according to the characters you type in.
Please see this post for auto-complete feature implemented using jQuery.
Razor: Auto-complete text box inside jqGrid, How to bind values?
The example shown in that page lists all from the database. However, as a next phase, you can as well extend this feature to look for a WCF exposed service for universe of schools/colleges.
FYI" "GetSkillNameAutocomplete" is a method in the controller that takes a string parameter as an input (the search string) and gets the value(s).
Hope this helps!
i'm trying to use 'Twitter Search Widget' here searching an #hashtag in a 'Twitter List', but i can't fix the exact query. Someone did it before me?
Thanks in advance, sorry for my poor english.
Francesco
There doesn't seem to be a way to directly search twitter lists using the widget. If you look at the "operators" link on this page:
https://twitter.com/#!/search-home
You can use "from:userid OR from:userid2 #hashtag" to search for #hashtag tweets from specific users, and hashtags work fine - so you could manually build a search for a list if you wanted.
You can see what operators search can take by looking at the advanced search page here:
https://twitter.com/#!/search-advanced
If i understand correctly, you're trying to search for tweets containing a specific #hashtag, authored uniquely by certain list members?
If this is the case, say for example your looking for the hashtag #COVID19 relayed only by #Twitter's list of official Twitter accounts, you could do it with the following Twitter search query:
#COVID19 list:84839422
Try it...
The structure is quite simple...
[#hashtag] list:[list_id]
You can find list IDs by looking at the URL line in the browser when opening lits on Twitter. For example, here is the URL of #Twitter's official accounts liss:
https://twitter.com/i/lists/84839422
The list ID are the digits after the last /.
I want to store the exact country name using g:countrySelect. Example Germany instead of DEU. It is the value in the drop down menu. The drop down text is Germany but when it saves it to the database it changes back to the country code. Sorry if I am somewhat naive but I have been searching for almost 3 hours for solutions and it isn't well documented at the grails website. I could opt for any alternative even ajax. Just to have an easy way to display a list of countries and will be able to store the REAL NAME of the country NOT country code. Thank you!
You can convert from an ISO3 country code to the country name using this function
def getCountryName(String countryCode) {
Locale.availableLocales.find{it.ISO3Country == countryCode}.displayCountry
}
// Test
println getCountryName('DEU') // prints 'Germany'
If you want to do this within a GSP, it would be best to make this available as a TagLib.
Not sure when the above solution stopped working but if you try that now, you'll get an error:
Couldn't find 3-letter country code for CS
With the latest grail version, the current way of getting the full country name is by using this tag:
<g:country code="${country}"/>
I know this thread is old, but I was looking for the same issue and I had to share my solution.
You can use the CountryTagLib object to convert the ISO3 code back to full country name like this :
def country = CountryTagLib.ISO3166_3[code]
The "code" property being the ISO3 code that you got from <g:countrySelect>.
