SimplePickerElement in MvvmCross - blank in iOS7 - ios

I've got an MvvmCross app that was working fine until iOS 7 came out - in a UIDialogController, I have a few SimplePickerElements. In iOS7 (even in the simulator), when the screen scrolls to the element, the screen is completely blank.
I've got the source code and would be happy to play around with it but I have no idea where to start..

We fixed a similar issue for date and time pickets recently - it's to do with the transparency and default font colour of the new ios7 Pickers. I suspect this problem will be similar.
That issue was https://github.com/MvvmCross/MvvmCross/issues/458 - you can see the commit that fixed it linked there - it's a quick change to the background colour.

iOS simulator view controller black background Xcode 6.4

When I run my app on the iOS simulator on Xcode, I get a black background on my initial view controller, but it still shows the the textfields and buttons. All the other functions work as well. I looked for other solutions and the solutions I found only apply to a complete black screen. I tried resetting the simulator, checked the Deployment Info, and the whatever solution I came across, but it did not fix the problem.
This is what happens when I run the app:
If there is a ways to fix this problem, the help would be appreciated.
This might be Bug set color programmatically by
self.view.backgroundColor=[UIColor lightGrayColor];
Check backgroundcolor property of Main View and set it as per your need.

Ratchet Modal bug on iOS 8

I have an app on the store which is built using Ratchet framework. It used to work fine, until iOS 8 was released. Now when I test it on iOS 8, title bars for modals won't appear. All the controls like Close, Back buttons on the bar work when I click, but the bar and the controls on it are not visible. This happens only on iOS 8, works fine on iOS 7 and older versions.
To reproduce this bug, please open this sample app http://goratchet.com/examples/app-android-notes in Safari on an iOS 8 device or simulator, and then click on New note button to open a modal.
I've noticed while debugging it in Safari's web inspector that if I move the bar <header>...</header> element of the modal to somewhere else and then bring it back to its original position, it appears. Or sometimes, changing its display property from block to none and then back to block works. Or sometimes if I scroll the page.
Any solution will be highly appreciated
Seems there is an issue with position: fixed in Safari as discussed in this SO question: Mobile safari position:fixed z-index glitch when scrolling
You can fix it by adding this rule to your CSS
header.bar.bar-nav {
-webkit-transform: translateZ(0);
}
You can track the issue on Ratchet's Github repository here - https://github.com/twbs/ratchet/issues/679
You should try position:sticky;. It's made to deal with position on Safari. fixed has been an issue with mobile devices for years. I thought it was fixed but iOs8 has weird behavior too...

UIDatePicker Cutting Off Text & Not Displaying Days

My app is suddenly unable to correctly display UIDatePickers. I'm using storyboards. The Datepickers are set to just display the date. They are cutting off the month, and also not even showing the days. There's a big space in the middle. I have tried cleaning the project, resetting the simulator, checking localization settings, and checking to see if dynamic type size was set. I'm using Xcode 5.1.1 but the same thing happens in the beta of Xcode 6. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Ok, I figured it out. This happened as a result of trying to use UIAppearance on a tableView background color. This has nothing to do with tableViews on the face of it, but Apple must be using a tableView privately for the PickerViews. So, my attempt to set a UIAppearance via a category on a tableView background color seems to be doing something unexpected. Lesson learned. Don't try to use UIAppearance where they are not officially supported.
I had this exact same issue, and it was related to duplicate constraints in my storyboard. I'd been implementing iPhone 6 widths and inadvertently ended up with both width = 320 and width >= 320. Removing that width = 320 fixed it instantly.

Black bar on IOS 7

I have an iPad app. When I used it in iOS 5 or 6 its working fine and the UI also seems to be fine. But the same in iOS 7 a black bar on top, bottom, left and right of the screen appeared. Including on the splash screen.
I had tried it by hiding status bar of all views.But I cant fix the issue.
- (BOOL)prefersStatusBarHidden
{
return YES;
}
Can any one know what is the reason?
The same thing happened to me as a result of downloading the latest version of Xcode
and all I had to do was adjust the frame of my view as it was altered during the download. It's so simple I didn't even think to try it.
How big are the bars? Is there any chance this is actually an iPhone retina app and this is iOS 7's new automatic scaling for the iPad's bigger display instead of the old '2x' mode?
Also, does it behave like this in the simulator and if so, can you post simulator shots of it running under iOS 6 and iOS 7?

iOS 6 UITextView Link Detection Issue

I am coming across a strange bug in my app, that I believe is an iOS 6 bug.
I have a UITextView that contains some text that has some links and phone numbers. In my storyboard, I have Links & Phone Numbers checked under 'Detection' for my UITextView. In code I also do:
_txtvFooter.editable = NO;
_txtvFooter.dataDetectorTypes = UIDataDetectorTypeAll;
The issue I am having is a strange one, but when I run my app onto my device (or sim) from Xcode, the UITextView detects all of the links fine, and I can click them. If I then run the app not in debug (not running through Xcode), the links show as black standard text and cannot be touched. Note this is only happening on iOS 6.
On the iOS 5 simulator, the links show as blue and are clickable no matter if the app is run in debug, or just ran from the simulator.
I have looked all over the internets, and cannot find a solution or anyone else who has reported this issue. Does anyone know if something changed in iOS 6 specifically? I thing is, like I said it detects the links when run straight from Xcode, so to me it seems like an iOS 6 bug.
Any help is appreciated!
I found what was causing my issue. What I was doing was placing a UIView in the footer of a UITableView in Storyboard that contained a UITextView.
The fix was dumb... I removed the UITextView from the UIView and just used that as the footer (I at one point had multiple textviews in the footer) and the links began detecting.
I still believe this is a bug though-- because if you do need to use a UIView the links would not detect from the textviews within.
