I am a beginner to Struts2 and have successfully implemented simple examples.
I am getting problem with Tiles
I refereed from this site
http://www.dzone.com/tutorials/java/struts-2/struts-2-example/struts-2-tiles-example-1.html
and my files are exact same as given in that website mentioned above
I am using :
Netbeans ide 7.3 , struts 2 , glassfish 3.1.2.2
(note : The downloadable file from the tutorials site works in EclipseIDE , what do i need to add extra in netbeans)
here is my error from GlassFish :

HELP :)
I got it solved .
the error was with netbeans struts plugin which has no tiles provision.
i had earlier removed tiles plugin after pasting code which didnt work .
now what i did:
1.created a project.
2.added framework of struts2 of netbeans(else struts.xml is not added to configuration folder and at any other place wont work :( )
3.removed lib
4.CLEAN AND BUILD
5.add JAR files manually
works now :)
thanks a lot for advices :)

Good Morning,
I'm trying to implement the massive data dump cassandra example using the bulk-loading (http://www.datastax.com/dev/blog/bulk-loading) as a guide.
In the example resolve dependencies with the script (http://www.datastax.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/DataImport) but I find that the dependencies to be covered with cassandra libraries not located in the directories listed here because the version I'm working with dse with cassandra 2.0. Well then trying to cover such dependencies get the following script.
#!/bin/sh
# paths to the cassandra source tree, cassandra jar and java
CASSANDRA_HOME="/usr/share/dse/cassandra"
# CASSANDRA_JAR="./apache-cassandra-2.0.10.jar"
JAVA=`which java`
# Java classpath. Must include:
# - directory of DataImportExample
# - directory with cassandra/log4j config files
# - cassandra jar
# - cassandra depencies jar
CLASSPATH=".:/usr/share/dse/dse.jar:./slf4j-1.7.7/slf4-nop-1.7.7.jar:./slf4j-1.7.7/slf4j-simple-1.7.7.jar:/etc/dse/cassandra"
for jar in $CASSANDRA_HOME/lib/*.jar; do
CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:$jar
done
$JAVA -ea -cp $CLASSPATH -Xmx256M \
-Dlog4j.configuration=log4j-tools.properties \
CassandraDataBulk "$#"
CASSANDRA_JAR is commented and I use "cassandra-all-2.0.8.39.jar" located in the folder "/ usr / share / dse / cassandra / lib" and is already included.
I solve slf4j dependencies downloading that in 1.7.7 version.
Due to the difference of cassandra version also I had to accustom SSTableSimpleUnsortedWriter builder.
IPartitioner partitioner = new RandomPartitioner();
SSTableSimpleUnsortedWriter sourcesWriter = new SSTableSimpleUnsortedWriter(
directory,
partitioner,
keyspace,
table,
AsciiType.instance,
null,
64
);
It seems that the problem today is that there are still dependencies.
Under, the trace error I get.
There is a dependency but it seems that being "org.apache.commons.configuration.ConfigurationRuntimeException" the real problem could be another, Could have a bad configuration "cassandra.yaml"?
Thanks,
A greeting!

You are missing a "javaagent" parameter in your java call. Add the following:
-javaagent:$CASSANDRA_HOME/lib/jamm-0.2.5.jar
Your final call should look like:
$JAVA -ea -cp $CLASSPATH -Xmx256M \
-Dlog4j.configuration=log4j-tools.properties \
-javaagent:$CASSANDRA_HOME/lib/jamm-0.2.5.jar
CassandraDataBulk "$#"
NOTE: Adjust the path to jamm.jar as necessary
Reference
As for the runtime configuration error, download apache commons 'lang' library and include it to your classpath.
Download here
If you receive NEW exceptions after implementing the fix, download google-common.jar and guava-16.0.1.jar and include them as well to your classpath. These are all of the JARs that my own bulk loader required so far.
Grails version 2.4.1 was recently released. One of the bugs fixed was restoring the ability to use servlet version 2.5. See https://jira.grails.org/browse/GRAILS-11466
I created a new grails app. Without changing anything, I was able to compile it and run it. When I changed the grails.servlet.version to "2.5", I was able to compile but when I ran it I got the the following stack trace error.
Does anyone know if there are other settings I need to change to get Grails 2.4.1 to run on a servlet 2.5 container? Specifically, tomcat 6.

This error would happen if you didn't do a grails clean prior to running Grails after changing the version to 2.5
What happens is that when the version is 3.0 Grails adds extra dependencies to the classpath that result in new behaviour being added to the compiled classes.
If you then change the version to 2.5 and just do run-app the extra dependencies are gone, but the new behaviour is still compiled into the classes. Doing a clean resolve this.
Getting above error when starting my struts application.

Add this jars in your WEB-INF/lib folder
commons-lang3-3.1.jar
commons-lang-2.4.jar
slf4j-api-x.x.x.jar
slf4j-log4j12-x.x.x.jar
log4j-x.x.x.jar
Most importantly this jar is not in your project, So first download it and add it to your build path.
tiles-core.2.x.x.jar
tiles-template-2.x.x.jar
tiles-portlet-2.x.x.jar
You can choose version by yourself as per your project need.e.g. commons-lang-x.x,jar. Also reply if you get error.
And if you are new user to stack overflow then I will suggest you to learn how to accept answer Please see click HERE
EDIT :
Also I would like to tell you that struts2-tiles-plugin-2.2.1.jar depends on tiles 2.0.6 not tiles 2.2.1. Well, it does not matter. But it was just for your information. You should use proper version of tiles which should be compatible with your struts. At least try once using compatible versions.
What your error says is a resource could not be used because it is not in a portlet environment.
I will suggest you to Learn portlet integration of tiles
You are missing tiles-portlet-2.x.x.jar or portlet-ext.xml file
Edit 2:
Check rt.jar in your JRE.
If you don't have it on your classpath you will not have access to any of those classes you need to use like java.lang.String or java.io.File.
This is my problem:
I'm learning Java EE development and I wanted to build up a WebApplication using Ejb. First of all I tried developing on the same machine, creating a EJB module on a glassfish domain and accessing it through a web application running on the same machine but on different domain: all worked fine. I was able, using glassfish 3.1, to access to the EJBmodule from the webapp thanks to the definition of glassfish-web.xml in my WEB-ING folder:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE glassfish-web-app PUBLIC "-//GlassFish.org//DTD GlassFish Application Server 3.1 Servlet 3.0//EN" "http://glassfish.org/dtds/glassfish-web-app_3_0-1.dtd">
<glassfish-web-app>
<ejb-ref>
<ejb-ref-name>ejb/FirstBeanRemote</ejb-ref-name>
<jndi-name>corbaname:iiop:127.0.0.1:3700#java:global/EJBModule/FirstBean!ejb.FirstBeanRemote</jndi-name>
</ejb-ref>
</glassfish-web-app>
After this, I wanted to change experiment, using different machines for the ejb module and the webapp. First of all I installed on a debian machine glassfish 3.1 and deployed my module including the required interfaces. No errors returned in the deploying so I proceeded starting the domain and again all seems to work fine. In server.log I copied the portable jndi names for my EJB FirstBean:
Portable JNDI names for EJB FirstBean: [java:global/EJBModule/FirstBean, java:global/EJBModule/FirstBean!ejb.FirstBeanRemote]
So now on another machine using Netbeans ( under windows 7 ) I created the same webapp as the previous one just changing the glassfish-web.xml in this way:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE glassfish-web-app PUBLIC "-//GlassFish.org//DTD GlassFish Application Server 3.1 Servlet 3.0//EN" "http://glassfish.org/dtds/glassfish-web-app_3_0-1.dtd">
<glassfish-web-app>
<ejb-ref>
<ejb-ref-name>ejb/FirstBeanRemote</ejb-ref-name>
<jndi-name>corbaname:iiop:192.168.1.110:3700#java:global/EJBModule/FirstBean!ejb.FirstBeanRemote</jndi-name>
</ejb-ref>
</glassfish-web-app>
I'm sure about Ip(static in my lan) and port (I create a default domain on glassfish).
The problem comes now. When I start the webapplication I get the error:

It seems to me a jndi problem, infact in the exception list I can read "Lookup failed for 'java:comp/env/ejb/FirstBeanRemote', so the webapp is not even able to access to the EJBModule. But I'm wondering why, since I'm using the portable jndi provided me by the glassfish server itself!
I hope I was clear and someone can help me.

When my Grails WAR is hot-deployed to Tomcat and I refresh the page, I get this error:
1 Feb, 2010 7:00:51 PM org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationDispatcher invoke
SEVERE: Servlet.service() for servlet view-servlet threw exception
java.lang.IllegalStateException: BeanFactory not initialized or already closed - call 'refresh' before accessing beans via the ApplicationContext
at org.springframework.context.support.AbstractRefreshableApplicationContext.getBeanFactory(AbstractRefreshableApplicationContext.java:15
This error does not persist when Tomcat is restarted.
ApplicationContext ctx = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext();
Spring try to lookup the applicationContext.xml from the CLASSPATH, if the xml file can't be found, "BeanFactory not initialized or already closed" error will be thrown out. That is why you restart the tomcat it works just fine. However I don't know the real cause why the applicationContext.xml is not in the classpath during hot-deploy.
If you are running only one Grails application in your tomcat, you can try to put the applicationContext.xml in Tomcat classpath and try hot-deploy again.
