Is it possible to customise the topbar and tabbar button backgrounds in trigger.io?
Specifically, I'd like to be able to specify the 'active' state background, rather than the default.
However, I suspect this isn't within the scope of what trigger.io is aiming to achieve.
Currently, no - those backgrounds aren't configurable.
If it's urgent for you, this could be achieved with a native plugin. If that's not an option for you, this is the sort of thing we could and would add to the tabbar and topbar modules ourselves: get in touch at support#trigger.io to discuss timescales.

I have members complaining that they are unable to tap certain buttons located in a custom navigation bar at the top of my iOS app. The common complaint is that when they do attempt to tap, they see UI that looks like this:
This is about a 200x200 pixel square that appears over the middle of the screen.
We have no code in our app that is capable of drawing that kind of UI. I can only assume this is being triggered by some kind of iOS UI or Usability setting. The only thing I can think of is that we also have a UITabBarController, and the user (in this case) happens to be on the "Browse" tab of my app. If possible, I would like to either a) programmatically disable this or b) inform the user how he can manually disable this UI via an iOS setting someplace.
Can anyone identify what might trigger the UI you see above?
It is a new feature of iOS 11. Take a look at Bar Item Images.
To disable this you should remove an image from Accessibility on Bar Item (see link). But I am not sure how (or even whether) you can define that a user has enabled large content text.
For more info take a look at What's New in Accessibility.
I'm trying to create an APP prototype and I was wondering what is the name of animation/transition effect that you see on top of the mailing app when you click the new message button. It's animation effect where the navigation bar does not fully go to the top of the screen and you can the previous view in the background? And is there way to add that animation effect to my storyboard? If not, is there a easily available library that will
I do believe that is a custom transition for which apple does not provide api.
My app is in landscape and uses a UINavigationController as its RootViewController. My goal with it is:
Disable the normal iOS StatusBar ( I know how to do that and already did it )
Have a semi-transparent StatusBar (a view) above the UINavigationBar, so that I can show custom information on it
Parts of the content of my main view must be visible underneath my custom StatusBar (exactly like it works with the normal UIStatusBar, just that I don't want the clock and battery and want to show my own information on it)
How can I best achieve this?
A quick search on GitHub gave me multiple libraries that offer the exact functionality you are looking for.
MTStatusBarOverlay
KGStatusBar
CWStatusBarNotification
FDStatusBarNotifierView
BWStatusBarOverlay
WTStatusBar
TWStatus
Try them out, test them and see which one is best for you.
If none of them are good enough, you should get an idea on how to achieve this functionality using the source code those libraries provide.
iOS 7 Human Interface Design, page 143 says:
Don’t create a custom status bar. Users depend on the consistency of
the system-provided status bar. Although you might hide the status bar
in your app, it’s not appropriate to create custom UI that takes its
place.

I'm trying to make a custom tabgroup in appcelerator in which one (or two) of the tabs is bigger than the rest. I have attached an image of what I'm trying to pull off.
I am able to make a custom tabgroup, but it refreshes each time I change a tab, and I want my tabs to behave like a native tabgroup. Any help would be much appreciated
As you mentioned in a comment, on iOS the tab group it itself a view. You can add views to it, and they will persist regardless of which tab is active. Because you can programmatically change the active tab, you can overlay views on top of the normal tab group and use them to decide which tab should be active.
The following Gist demonstrates this:

I figured out this issue. For anyone that has this same issue in the future this should help: The tabgroup is its own view. If you want to add overlays to it, make a new view, and add it to the tabgroup, NOT to the window itself.
This also looks promising:

You can set a background image for active tab background. The advantage to this approach is that it uses the native iOS API. Actually, it will extend the Titanium tabgroup proxy and add some methods. No hacks required.
Is this possible for us to customize the UITabbar as it is in the attached image for an iPAd App?
My App is only meant for Landscape orientation..
Will apple allow this?
I know that this same can be done using a UIToolbar and having tab like buttons. Since the number of tabs I will have in my app is around 5, I can not think of implementing them in a single view using UIToolbar.
I came to know that even if this kind customization is done, Apple will not approve the App.
I have actually used UIView to place different UIButtons in them and produce similar effects as that of UITabbar.
