IIS 7 run asp.net mvc 3 app beside webforms app - asp.net-mvc

I have an existing webforms application running at:
demo.bla.com/dotnettwoapp
with the binding demo.bla.com in iis 7.
I would like to get a asp.net mvc 3 application running under:
demo.bla.com/mvcapp
My first attempt was to create a new site:
Mvcapp
but IIS 7 complaints about the duplicate binding. I did a few google searches but could not find anything. Could anyone please point me in the right direction on what to do in my situation? Thanks.

If you want to add it as an application under an existing site, you don't want to add a new site. In IIS, right-click on the existing site and choose "Add Application".

http://www.packtpub.com/article/mixing-asp.net-webforms-and-asp.net-mvc
but here i am confused about webconfig settings
please help me to get it done,
thanks
Scott Hanselman has a good guide on integrating MVC with a Web Form App, it should take you through the steps, here it is in a nutshell:
Run the Upgrade Wizard (open the Visual Studio2008 Web Application
in Visual Studio 2010)
Create a default ASP.NET MVC application for reference (you'll throw it away later)
Use a differencing tool like Beyond Compare to integrate the new web.config entries from the ASP.NET MVC sections into the upgraded ASP.NET WebForms application

integrating YAF.NET in my MVC3 Razor Solution

I would like to know if there is a way to integrate YAF.NET to my MVC3 Application?
I dont want YAF to be inside my page like using my masterpage or stuff like that, I just want it to be in a subfolder like /forum and if a user clicks the "forum" link he will be redirected to the forum.
In the future I also would like to use a login system for my page, so I have to think about membership provider. I know that there is a way to make YAF use your basic asp.net membership provider but will yaf work with mvc 3 in that way? Since yaf isn't a .NET 4 application I wonder how I could migrate the membership provider?
If there isn't a solution for the membership stuff, I should be able to just link from my page to YAF?
EDIT:
My solution ->
1)I added a subdomain and config both of mine domains to use an A-Record which points to the Server where IIS is running.
2)I added 2 Websites. The first one is my Main Website with my MVC3 Application and the second one is the YAF.NET Forum.
3) I edited the binding settings of both of the websites (IIS Manager -> Sites -> yoursite -> Binding) and removed the IP binding insteed i added a HTTP header. For mainsite = mydomain.com and for the forum forum.mydomain.com
For the first part, you can just install YAF in a virtual directory on your website like www.mywebsite.com/forums/ and let it run standalone there.
Create a new Virtual Directory in the folder you like. (/forums)
Set permissions, .NET settings etc accordingly and install YAF there.
For the second, what you could do is use from your MVC app, directly read YAF's database of users (wherever it is) and use it to authenticate your users.
The Latest build of YAF is on ASP.net 3.5, you could try getting the source and building it for .NET4, although this would not be necessary since you said you don't want to mash your app with it but run it side-by-side and have them interop. (There also is some UserControl feature for CMS's you might want to check that out)
On the features page it says YAF supports asp.net memberships and roles, so you shouldn't have a problem there either.

ASP.NET MVC and host problems

Hi,
I have done the following :
Start Visual Studio 2010
New Project > ASP.NET MVC
Default ASP.NET MVC project generated by VS2010
Add a couple off simple buttons on the first page
Start local IIS manager, Create a web application and point it to the ASP.NET MVC project
Set correct right on the ASP.NET MVC project folder(to the user running the thread pool in IIS7)
Browse site (http://localhost/MyTestSight/) and the first page is shown
Upload site to www.test.figurspel.net
Host sets the site to be runned on .NET 4.0
Browse www.test.figurspel.net and the site is not working?
The host has checked that tha Active Server Page is set to allow
Host has installed up to MVC 3
I could turn on the Browsable to see the file structure but this will not help to get the site running.
How do I get this asp.NET MVC web site running?
BestRegards
Is the application pool running in integrated mode the IIS site running under that application pool?
It's my understanding that if this isn't the case, the MVC site will not run.
Alternatively, have you tried this?
+1 Unicorn power HooooooO!!!!! Also I've always when hosting a site published the project to a different folder then setup the site via IIS from that folder hope this helps.

Deploy asp.net mvc beta to iis 6 causing 404's

I'm struggling to get around the 404 errors from asp.net mvc beta when deploying on IIS 6. I had this working in one of the previews by mapping .mvc in IIS but this no longer works. I've read Omar's post and several others on the web and tried their solutions but no luck so far.
The home page opens without a problem on IIS 6 but others 404 and the site runs well on IIS 7.
Has anybody deployed asp.net mvc beta to IIS 6 with success? If so, what adjustments did you need to make to the code and/or IIS settings to get it to work?
I found a solution to my problem from Steve Sanderson's blog (Thanks Steve):
Use a wildcard mapping for aspnet_isapi.dll. This tells IIS 6 to process all requests using ASP.NET, so routing is always invoked, and there’s no problem. It’s dead easy to set up:
open IIS manager (run -> inetmgr -> OK)
right-click your app, go to Properties
then Home Directory tab, then click Configuration.
Under Wildcard application maps, click Insert (not Add, which is
confusingly just above)
then enter
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll for
“Executable”, and uncheck Verify that file exists.
I can't seem to write comments yet. So I'll write a new answer.
There are a few similar questions going around on stackoverflow.
I'm using MVC 3. I know the question was MVC 2 related. But since this is the first stackoverflow post I bumped in to, I think it's worth mentioning that:
when you use MVC 3, you need to add a new extension mapping with the executable of the .NET 4 framework (C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\aspnet_isapi.dll)
<edit>I just found out that I even don't need to set up the extension mapping. </edit>
It still didn't work for me then :) I still had to 'Allow' ASP.NET v4.0.30319 in the Web Service Extensions section in IIS:
open IIS
click on the server node
open the Web Service Extensions section
select the ASP.NET v4.0....
right click --> Allow
Good to go!
Url rewriting can help you to solve the problem. I've implemented solution allowing to deploy MVC application at any IIS version even when virtual hosting is used.

ASP.NET MVC - Missing "Convert to Web Application" option

I created a new MVC project and added some webforms pages to it in an effort to start adding new pages to my app using MVC and eventually port the old pages over as well. Everything is building and working correctly but I did notice that I don't have the "Convert to Web Application" option when right clicking an aspx file. And I think its not regenerating my designer files when I change the controls on a page.
My guess is that the ProjectTypeGuid is wrong or in the wrong order. Can someone confirm?

This is so wrong on so many levels but I am going to answer you anyways in the hopes I might get an uptick or something. You have two routes with this. First route which I use all the time is put your mvc applications in their own projects. When your deploying the site drop the webforms application first, and then make a folder in that webforms application and put your mvc application into that folder. That should work like a charm for you. If you insit on having webforms and MVC Framework in the same project, then don't drop your webforms into the view folder. Create its own folder because you can not directly access your aspx pages from the views folder without making modifications to the web.config. Hope this helps.
MVC is available as a Web Project only. The VS2005 style Web Site is not supported.
