Umbraco - Install packages - umbraco

I'm new to Umbraco and I'm try to install some packages from the Umbraco package Repository. I'm getting a 500 - Internal server error in the Umbraco CMS when trying to browse the packages. First I thought I did something wrong in my installation of Umbraco but when I look at the source code it looks like packages.umbraco.org are having problems. Can anyone confirm if they having the same problem?
Thanks

Download the packages from our.umbraco.org and install as a local package. If that doesn't work then it may be permissions. If you aren't able to download packages on our.umbraco.org, then the package server may be down.

First of all either check the logs or change the customErrors section of your web.config so that you can see more details on the error.
<customErrors mode="Off" />
I have on a few rare occasions installed a version of Umbraco where I think the installedPackages.config file was empty and without at least an empty <packages /> node it generates an error. Check the file looks like this as a minimum:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<packages />
You will usually find the file located in App_Data\packages\installed\installedPackages.config however I think this may have changed in more recent versions of Umbraco.

Some good tips already, so I'll add a less likely one!
I have seen this error when I've first installed and for some reason the .net worker process has crashed so the internal error is simply that the site can't find cassini (or IIS depending on your settings).

Or perhaps there is nothing wrong and it is in fact related to the current issue with the Umbraco servers:
ICYMI: Our ISP have issues with their virtualisation platform and it affects > http://umbraco.com , umbraco.tv, Our Umbraco and package repo.

Adding a module to web config causes runtime error - mini Orange SSO package

I'm using the MiniOrange SSO DLL with a .NET Umbraco MVC app, and although it seems to work fine locally, as soon as it's deployed to test I get a "server error in '/' application" runtime error. It looks like it's down to adding the following entry under system.webserver, modules:
<add name="APIFilter" type="miniorangesamlsso.APIFilter" preCondition="managedHandler"/>
Has anyone used this, or have any info that may help?
Update
Looks like the miniOrage DLL is missing from bin when I look at it in Azure (it's not a nuget install). I've manually added it to the packages.confige and redeploying now to see if it resolves it.

I cannot deploy a war file with Glassfish

I'm now trying to upload a war file to a local Glassfish server. But I'm always getting this message:
GUI internal error: Archive Path is NULL
I read some users who had the same problem and the suggested solution was to change the content of a file named uploadFrame.jsf.
I couldn't even find that file. Can anyone help me out on this?
Thanks a lot.
Have same problem (v 5.0).
Only autodeploy works: move EAR/WAR to glassfish5/glassfish/domains/domain1/autodeploy folder.
I was getting the same issue with GUI internal error: Archive Path is NULL. With the last version of Glassfish 5.0.1, but after change my server to stable version glassfish.-5.0. The issue is solved successfully. I Hope you solve your problem with the version of glassfish.
Here's a solution that can be found on the web. You edit the "uploadFrame.jsf" file in the Glassfish "console-common.jar".
The original line of code in "uploadFrame.jsf":
<sun:form id="form">
The new line of code:
<sun:form id="form" enctype="multipart/form-data">
Remember to stop and restart your Glassfish Server after the change has been made. More detailed information is in these links below:

Neos CMS installation 500 error: Specified path not found

I tried to install Neos CMS local under Windows 10 with a Wamp Apache Server. After creating the project with a composer and registering the Vhosts, I tried to run neos.demo/setup. Then I get an 500 internal server error with the message "Specified path not found”, for more information, take a look at the screenshot.
I checked the solutions for the exception code 1355480641, but nothing can solve my problem.
Thanks for your recommendations!
do you have set Neos.Flow.core.phpBinaryPathAndFilename in Configuration/Settings.yaml to the correct php.exe binary path?
This is not an actual solution, this is more of an alternative.
I was having troubles installing neos on windows 10 as well (not the same as you though), a really nice solution that I would recommend as alternative to wamp is bitnami-neos.
I got the same error in the current version of Neos CMS (v4.1). The solution to the problem was for me:
Adjust Configuration/Settings.yaml with the php.exe path (which you already did)
Launch an administrator cmd
Go to the Neos CMS directory
Run flow flow:core:compile
Run flow flow:cache:warmup
Now I could access Neos with XAMPP.

Uncheck “Contact all update sites during install to find required software” (this is causing the error message above).
Go to Windows / Preferences
Then.. Install / Update
Then..Available Update Sites
And last...
Check All Sites!!
http://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/
AND
https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/ (sometimes are unchecked and fails)
Trailing / in Available Software Sites
The No repository found containing: osgi.bundle,... problem seem to be related to many things or be the symptom to different problems.
Adding to the answer from #miguel-a-cardenete, make sure all URLs there have a '/' at the end. It worked for me in Eclipse Luna 4.4.2.

How can I install asp.net mvc 2 on IIS7?

I have developed an ASP.NET MVC 2 website, and now need to deploy it to my web server. I've overcome some hurdles already, since ASP.NET was not installed etc. but I've now got to the point where I can serve up plain content files, and if I try to hit one of my MVC URLs I get this:
Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Mvc, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Not surprising, that, as I've not installed MVC2. Problem is, I can't find any good information about how to install it!
The Microsoft Download Center lists 3 files, none of which look promising:
ASP.NET-MVC-2-RTM-Release-Notes.doc
AspNetMVC2_VS2008.exe
mvc2-ms-pl.zip
The site doesn't bother to explain what the files actually are, but I assume that the last file is the source code. That's what it looks like, anyway. The release notes are no help whatsoever, since they're all about installing on your development machine, and indeed the name of the EXE makes it clear that that's all about Visual Studio integration too.
So how do I actually deploy the darn thing?
The other option linked to from Scott Gu's blog is the Microsoft Web Platform Installer. Now, I don't want to install more than just MVC2, and I already have IIS etc. set up, so this seems a bit heavy. But it's all academic, as it refuses to run on my server, saying "your system is not supported" or words to that effect. (The server is Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2, so I really don't know what it's problem is).
Help!
[It's ridiculous that this should be so hard - or perhaps not hard at all, but certainly a well-kept secret!]
To deploy an MVC application, you just need to ensure that you set the references up to copy to your bin folder. Specifically, these DLLs will need to be in there...
System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations.dll
System.Web.Abstractions.dll
System.Web.Mvc.dll
System.Web.Routing.dll
Note: Copying a reference to your bin folder.
In practice, you do this by following these steps:
Right-click on the reference in
the "references" section of your
project
Select "Properties"
Locate the "Copy Local" property and
set it to "true"
PLEASE NOTE!
System.Web.Abstractions.dll
System.Web.Routing.dll
You only need these two if .NET 3.5 SP1 has not been installed - if you don't have SP1, you will need to include these two dlls, which are part of SP1 and are needed by MVC for routing.
The correct answer is given by Darin Dimitrov in this answer (posted here for your convenience):
You could do a server install which doesn't require Visual Studio installed:
msiexec /i AspNetMVC2.msi /l*v .\mvc.log MVC_SERVER_INSTALL="YES"
Now you are probably asking where's this AspNetMVC2.msi coming from. Actually you download AspNetMVC2_VS2008.exe from here, rename the .exe to .zip and inside you'll find what you are looking for (in the mvcruntime sub-folder).
Copy System.Web.Mvc.dll from your development machine to the application's Bin folder on the web server (or to the GAC).
This file comes from AspNetMVC2_VS2008.exe.
You do not need to put these files in the Server GAC. You can, but you don't need to.
You can simply copy these files to your /bin directory on the server. In fact, if you have Copy Local set to true when you right click on the reference, it will do just that.
You need to make sure the reference path to this file:
System.Web.Mvc.dll
is in your /bin directory.
I find running the web platform installer tool works great for getting servers and development machines running. It can be found here... http://www.microsoft.com/web/default.aspx
